Mod (subculture)
Mod is a subculture that began in 1960s Britain and spread, in varying degrees, to other countries and continues today on a smaller scale. Focused on music and fashion, the subculture has its roots in a small group of London-based stylish young men in the late 1950s who were termed modernists because they listened to modern jazz, although the subculture expanded to include women.
Significant elements of the mod subculture include fashion (often tailor-made suits); music (including soul, ska, and R&B); and motor scooters (usually Lambretta or Vespa). The original mod scene was associated with amphetamine-fuelled all-night dancing at clubs.
In England during the early to mid 1960s, mods often engaged in brawls with rockers, which led to many news articles. The mods and rockers conflict led sociologist Stanley Cohen to coin the term moral panic in his study about the two youth subcultures, which examined media coverage of the mod and rocker riots in the 1960s. In the mid-to-late 1960s, the conflicts between mods and rockers subsided, as several rock bands, including The Who and the Small Faces adopted a mod style. London became synonymous with fashion, music, and pop culture in these years, a period often referred to as "Swinging London." In turn, mod influence spread to the United States and around the world.

Mods (band)
Mods was a Norwegian rock band formed in Stavanger in 1980. The band recorded their first album Revansj! in 1981. The original members were vocalist Morten Abel, guitarist Runar Bjålid, guitarist Kurt Øyvind Olsen, bassist Torkild Viig, keyboardist Helge Hummervoll and drummer Leif Arne Bergvin Nilsen. After the first album, Bjålid and Olsen left the band and were replaced by Tor Øyvind Syvertsen. The second album Amerika was released in 1982. They recorded their last album, Time Machine, in 1984. They played some reunion concerts in 1990 in the Stavanger area. Morten Abel has on several occasions dismissed the band and their songs. Nevertheless, they are considered legends, especially in their home county Rogaland. Drummer Leif Nilsen later formed Leif & Kompisane, they sometimes play Mods songs live.
On 30 June 2012 Mods played at a very successful and well attended concert at the Viking Stavanger Football Stadium, to rapturous applause.
Abel, Hummervoll and Syvertsen later formed the band The September When in 1987, and Abel eventually went on to become a very successful solo artist in Norway.

Here is a little disclaimer for those of you thinking, wait isn’t this cheating ruining the game? First off yes this "mod" would also be called hacking, but I decided to not call it a "hack" as I am not using it to win or gain an unfair advantage, or (the definition of hacking) using it to gain of unauthorized access to data in a system or computer. This mod was not used to win/ruin lobbies. I Wouldn’t just sit behind walls and not get tagged, I would mostly use it just to jumpscare people, as you saw in the video. If I was ever in a lobby where people did not want this mod being used (basically they were actually trying to play the game normally) I would leave. Basically I only used this mod to just mess with people, not ruin games. And no I will never tell people how to get this mod or do this in anyway at all. Hope that helps clear some things up!

In the early 1960s the mod subculte emerged amongst the youth. Influenced by the Beatniks and Beat music from the US and Jamaica the Modernists danced the night away in clubs all over London. Enraging their parents with their short and colorful clothes this generation had a lot of disposable income that they eagerly spend on clothes by Mary Quant and her fellow Mod fashion designers. and welcome to "Explaining 60s Mod Fashion & Subculture"!
Join me on a trip through time back to London in the 1960s were a subculture shaped a decade.
In the early 1960s the mod subculte emerged amongst the youth. Influenced by the Beatniks and Beat music from the US and Jamaica the Modernists danced the night away in clubs all over London.
Enraging their parents with their short and colorful clothes this generation had a lot of disposable income that they eagerly spend on clothes by Mary Quant and her fellow Mod fashion designers.
A lot of women started working as shopgirls giving them a feeling of freedom and a glamourous sense of dressing up while the MOD boys rode arounf town on their scooters.
Bands like The Who and The Yardbirds emerged from this scene making music for Mods that for and all of those who wanted to be like them.
Movies like "Blow Up" or "Thank you very much" were widely successfull while the Who sang about "My Generation".
While being short lived the Mod Subculture had great influence on fashion, music and art and is still referenced in pop culture to this day. Modfashion has become a time capsule standing synonymously with London in the 1960s and a new generation of musician, artist and designers and influencing many to write and sing about. It’s well preserved in those tunes and the wonderful fashion referenced and replicated until today.

For Donnacha, Punk is;
"A rebellion against the old system, the system that we were born into and are supposed to live by but we don’t agree with today’s system so we rebel against it in our appearance, the way we dress and the way we think."
Donnacha describes on the misperceptions of punks by people who don’t understand them.
For Siobhán Corrigan, she dresses the way she does because she enjoys it and she likes to be different.
John Fiddler does not identify with any specific group.
"I wouldn’t put myself in any category at all. I’m just quite a normal person really."
Gerard Quinn describes his clean-cut image and the lifestyle of a mod.
Also on the panel is Dr Edward de Bono who does not see how these young people are that different to others as for the most part they still identify with a specific group. He says there is a dichotomy that exists between rebellion as a form of individuality or as a form of belonging to a group.

The guest are 20 year old Crumlin punk Donnacha McDonagh, 19 year old Drimnagh punk Siobhán Corrigan, 20 year old fashion student John Fiddler from Killiney, and 20 year old mod Gerard Quinn from Fatima Mansions.
For Donnacha, Punk is;
"A rebellion against the old system, the system that we were born into and are supposed to live by but we don’t agree with today’s system so we rebel against it in our appearance, the way we dress and the way we think."
Donnacha describes on the misperceptions of punks by people who don’t understand them.
For Siobhán Corrigan, she dresses the way she does because she enjoys it and she likes to be different.
John Fiddler does not identify with any specific group.
"I wouldn’t put myself in any category at all. I’m just quite a normal person really."
Gerard Quinn describes his clean-cut image and the lifestyle of a mod.
Also on the panel is Dr Edward de Bono who does not see how these young people are that different to others as for the most part they still identify with a specific group. He says there is a dichotomy that exists between rebellion as a form of individuality or as a form of belonging to a group.

Here is a little disclaimer for those of you thinking, wait isn’t this cheating ruining the game? First off yes this "mod" would also be called hacking, but I decided to not call it a "hack" as I am not using it to win or gain an unfair advantage, or (the definition of hacking) using it to gain of unauthorized access to data in a system or computer. This mod was not used to win/ruin lobbies. I Wouldn’t just sit behind walls and not get tagged, I would mostly use it just to jumpscare people, as you saw in the video. If I was ever in a lobby where people did not want this mod being used (basically they were actually trying to play the game normally) I would leave. Basically I only used this mod to just mess with people, not ruin games. And no I will never tell people how to get this mod or do this in anyway at all. Hope that helps clear some things up!

and welcome to "Explaining 60s Mod Fashion & Subculture"!
Join me on a trip through time back to London in the 1960s were a subculture shaped a decade.
In the early 1960s the mod subculte emerged amongst the youth. Influenced by the Beatniks and Beat music from the US and Jamaica the Modernists danced the night away in clubs all over London.
Enraging their parents with their short and colorful clothes this generation had a lot of disposable income that they eagerly spend on clothes by Mary Quant and her fellow Mod fashion designers.
A lot of women started working as shopgirls giving them a feeling of freedom and a glamourous sense of dressing up while the MOD boys rode arounf town on their scooters.
Bands like The Who and The Yardbirds emerged from this scene making music for Mods that for and all of those who wanted to be like them.
Movies like "Blow Up" or "Thank you very much" were widely successfull while the Who sang about "My Generation".
While being short lived the Mod Subculture had great influence on fashion, music and art and is still referenced in pop culture to this day. Modfashion has become a time capsule standing synonymously with London in the 1960s and a new generation of musician, artist and designers and influencing many to write and sing about. It’s well preserved in those tunes and the wonderful fashion referenced and replicated until today.

James Hogg reports on the mod revival currently taking place in London. He interviews Ian Page - the vocalist with the new mod group Secret Affair - and John Entwistle of mod's elder statesmen The Who. Is the mod rebirth just a flash-in-the-pan, motivated by money, or is there more to it than that?
The whole affair is regarded with some amusement in Yorkshire, where the mod scene never really went away, and where there are still several thriving scooter clubs. What do these veteran mods make of what is happening down in London?

Expressing individuality through identifying with a group. Discussing the youth subcultures of Dublin.
Gay Byrne introduces representatives from various Dublin “gangs” to find out why they identify with specific groups and dress the way they do.
Punks, Mods, Rockers, Teds, Greasers, Futuristics, New Romantics, Blitz Kids, Skinheads, Rudie Skinheads, Boot Boys, Hells Angels, Bikers and Ska Boys.
The guest are 20 year old Crumlin punk Donnacha McDonagh, 19 year old Drimnagh punk Siobhán Corrigan, 20 year old fashion student John Fiddler from Killiney, and 20 year old mod Gerard Quinn from Fatima Mansions.
For Donnacha, Punk is;
"A rebellion against the old system, the system that we were born into and are supposed to live by but we don’t agree with today’s system so we rebel against it in our appearance, the way we dress and the way we think."
Donnacha describes on the misperceptions of punks by people who don’t understand them.
For Siobhán Corrigan, she dresses the way she does because she enjoys it and she likes to be different.
John Fiddler does not identify with any specific group.
"I wouldn’t put myself in any category at all. I’m just quite a normal person really."
Gerard Quinn describes his clean-cut image and the lifestyle of a mod.
Also on the panel is Dr Edward de Bono who does not see how these young people are that different to others as for the most part they still identify with a specific group. He says there is a dichotomy that exists between rebellion as a form of individuality or as a form of belonging to a group.
This episode of ‘The Late Late Show’ was broadcast on 29 January 1983. The presenter is Gay Byrne.
