Cuba, officially the Republic of Cuba (Spanish: República de Cuba ), is a country comprising the islands of Cuba, Isla de la Juventud and several archipelagos in the Caribbean Sea. The capital and largest city Havana is 365 km (227 mi) from Miami, Florida. Geographically, Cuba is considered part of North America. Culturally, it is considered part of Latin America.
Prior to Spanish colonization in the late 15th century, Cuba was inhabited by Amerindian tribes. It remained a colony of Spain until the Spanish–American War of 1898, which led to nominal independence as a de facto U.S. protectorate in 1902. As a fragile republic, Cuba attempted to strengthen its democratic system, but mounting political radicalization and social strife culminated in the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista in 1952. Further unrest and instability led to Batista's ousting in January 1959 by the July 26 movement, which afterwards established a government under the leadership of Fidel Castro. Since 1965, the country has been governed by the Communist Party of Cuba.
The Cuban Five, also known as the Miami Five (Gerardo Hernández, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino, Fernando González, and René González), are five Cuban intelligence officers who were arrested in September 1998 and later convicted in Miami of conspiracy to commit espionage, conspiracy to commit murder, acting as an agent of a foreign government, and other illegal activities in the United States. The Five were in the United States to observe and infiltrate the Cuban-American groups Alpha 66, the F4 Commandos, the Cuban American National Foundation, and Brothers to the Rescue. They were part of La Red Avispa (the Wasp Network).
In 2001 the Cuban government acknowledged—after denying the fact for nearly 3 years—that the 5 men were intelligence agents. It said they were spying on Miami's Cuban exile community, not the US government. Cuba contends that the men were sent to South Florida in the wake of several terrorist bombings in Havana organized by anti-communist terrorist Luis Posada Carriles, a former Central Intelligence Agency operative.

Some New Zealanders wanted to change the country's flag because the current design features Britain's Union Jack and looks a lot like Australia's. Transcript: After 2.1 million votes cast, $18 million spent and a months long redesign process, New Zealand's flag will be staying exactly the same. During a two-part referendum, 57 percent of voters in New Zealand decided to keep the country's flag featuring Britain's Union Jack in the top left corner — a callback to when New Zealand was a British colony. That and the similarities to Australia's flag were part of the reason New Zealand Prime Minister John Key has been so vocal about changing the design. More than 10,000 submissions were received — some more serious than others. "How did this one not make the cut? The title, its actual title, ...
Frank Jorge is an American who was born in Guantanamo, Cuba in 1950. He immigrated to the USA in 1957 under a normal, non-refugee Visa process with his parents and sister and was raised in California where he became active as a Minuteman against illegal immigration. Jorge is a retired electronic technician and host of Frank and Friends Internet Radio Show. In this program we get Frank’s take on President Obama’s recent historical trip to Cuba and his symbolic, propaganda-filled speech that illuminated yet another merge towards the globalist agenda. Frank talks about the conditions in Cuba that prompted his parents to flee the country in its last couple of years under the dictatorial rule of Batista. We trace over the rebel uprising and Cuban revolution that propelled Fidel Castro to powe...

Jonny here, right now I'm in Havana, and in this short film I'm going to explain a little about tourism in Cuba. Most cultural holidays to Cuba will start in Havana, a city of magnificent decaying colonial architecture, monuments and parks, museums and galleries, music and bars and large old American cars. But the first thing you'll probably notice wandering around Havana is the near total lack of consumerism. Cuba is still a communist country with no commercial influence from America, and as such there's almost no evidence at all of the large multinationals we're used to in the West; you won't find any Starbucks or McDonalds here. There are no billboards advertising Coca Cola, there are no glass fronted shopping malls. Which is actually really quite refreshing. The whole city gives you ...
This travel video of Cuba is a collection of many videos taken in our holiday trip to Cuba in January/February 2015. If you ever have questions about some locations, just let me know and I will tell you. Hope you enjoy it - if you like it, like it on youtube and share it :) The song in the background is from One Republic called "Feel again". I have no rights of the song, I just used it for private reasons.
In this travel lecture, Rick Steves describes his experience traveling through Cuba as the US began easing decades of travel restrictions for American tourists. Expand your travel horizons and learn about the time-passed elegance of Havana, Cuba's classic American cars, fine $5 rum, the best Cuban cigars, and the idealistic charms of this remarkable island and its people. (Produced by Seattle's KCTS 9.)
Travel video about destination Cuba. Basking in the Caribbean sun, the island of Cuba lies between sun and socialism, rumba and revolution. Havana is the capital. In 1553, the Spanish conquerors designated Havana’s harbour as a collection point for ships loaded with gold and silver from the new Spanish colonies and named the settlement, San Cristobal De La Habana.La Bodeguita Del Medio was once Hemmingway`s local and nowhere else is the ‘Mojito’ mixed better: three year old white rum, lime juice, soda, sugar, ice and mint. Whether it be the Teatro Marti, the Old Tobacco Factory, the famous Bacardi house, or the Floridita Bar, everywhere there is a feeling of nostalgia. When the Daiquiri is served, one almost expects Fidel Castro to be sitting at the next table. Pinar Del Rio is a small but...

You say you want to feel
Everything again like it used to be
Then let's go back
Unravel all our string
Marking all our paths on the trail
So we're not lost
Let's find a new way back to your heart
To your heart
You say you want to see
Everything again like it used to be
Then hold your breath
I'll take you back in time
And show you the world that made you mine
On second thought
How 'bout we find a new way back to your heart
To your heart
How am I to say everything that I needed to
There has to be a way to make you see the same way that I do
Well I don't know how but i'll stay cause you are the one
And I'll lift up my hands to the sun
We don't have to hide
All I know is that we still have time
On second thought
Won't you come out of your shell
And show me the love you work so well
On second thought
We can find a new way back
We'll find a new way back
We can find a new way back to your heart
