Canada (i/ˈkænədə/; French: [ka.na.da]) is a country in the northern part of North America. Its ten provinces and three territories extend from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean, covering 9.98 million square kilometres (3.85 million square miles), making it the world's second-largest country by total area and the fourth-largest country by land area. Canada's border with the United States is the world's longest land border. Canada is sparsely populated, the majority of its land territory being dominated by forest and tundra and the Rocky Mountains; about four-fifths of the country's population of 35 million people live near the southern border. The majority of Canada has a cold or severely cold winter climate, but southerly areas are warm in summer.
The land now called Canada has been inhabited for millennia by various Aboriginal peoples. Beginning in the 15th century, British and French colonies were established on the Atlantic coast, with the first establishment of a region called "Canada" occurring in 1537. As a consequence of various conflicts, the United Kingdom gained and lost territories within British North America until left, in the late 18th century, with what mostly geographically comprises Canada today. Pursuant to the British North America Act, on July 1, 1867, the colonies of Canada, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia joined to form the autonomous federal Dominion of Canada. This began an accretion of provinces and territories to the self-governing Dominion to the present ten provinces and three territories forming modern Canada. In 1931, Canada achieved near total independence from the United Kingdom with the Statute of Westminster 1931, and full sovereignty was attained when the Canada Act 1982 removed the last remaining ties of legal dependence on the British parliament.
Ontario (i/ɒnˈtɛərioʊ/) is one of the ten provinces of Canada, located in east-central Canada. It is Canada's most populous province by a large margin, accounting for nearly 40 percent of all Canadians, and is the second largest province in total area. Ontario is fourth largest in total area when the territories of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut are included. It is home to the nation's capital city, Ottawa, and the nation's most populous city, Toronto.
Ontario is bordered by the province of Manitoba to the west, Hudson Bay and James Bay to the north, and Quebec to the east, and to the south by the US states of (from west to east) Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York. All of Ontario's 2,700 km (1,678 mi) border with the United States follows inland waterways: from the west at Lake of the Woods, eastward along the major rivers and lakes of the Great Lakes/Saint Lawrence River drainage system. These are the Rainy River, the Pigeon River, Lake Superior, the St. Marys River, Lake Huron, the St. Clair River, Lake St. Clair, the Detroit River, Lake Erie, the Niagara River, Lake Ontario and along the St. Lawrence River from Kingston, Ontario, to the Quebec boundary just east of Cornwall, Ontario.
Windsor (i/ˈwɪnzər/), Ontario is the southernmost city in Canada. It is located on the southern shore of the Detroit River, directly across the river from Detroit, Michigan. Windsor is a major contributor to Canada's automotive industry and has much to offer by means of a storied history and a diverse culture.
Prior to European exploration and settlement, the Windsor area was inhabited by the First Nations and American Indian people. Windsor was settled by the French in 1749 as an agricultural settlement. It is the oldest continually inhabited European settlement in Canada west of Montreal. The area was first named Petite Côte ("Little Coast" – as opposed to the longer coastline on the Detroit side of the river). Later it was called La Côte de Misère ("Poverty Coast") because of the sandy soils near LaSalle.
Windsor's French Canadian heritage is reflected in many French street names, such as Ouellette, Pelissier, François, Pierre, Langlois, Marentette, and Lauzon. The current street system of Windsor (a grid with elongated blocks) reflects the Canadien method of agricultural land division, where the farms were long and narrow, fronting along the river. Today, the north-south street name often indicates the name of the family that at one time farmed the land where the street is now located. The street system of outlying areas is consistent with the British system for granting land concessions. There is a significant French-speaking minority in Windsor and the surrounding area, particularly in the Lakeshore, Tecumseh and LaSalle areas.

It's 2012 and GCAT is at it again! Travelling through the wonderland of Canada's breadbasket -- southern and south western Ontario. Starting in Windsor, just across the river from Detroit Michigan. Windsor is quite a picturesque city. But it's also a big bustling city with terrific places to go and great things to do. We landed there just in time to join more than two million people who gathered to watch one of the most impressive fireworks we've ever seen. Not to mention a terrific carnival with Windsor Summerfest in full bloom! Windsor is really a two nation destination -- just slip across the Detroit River and visit one of America's busiest and boldest cities. Or drop in to the Windsor Caesar Casino to see if its really your lucky day. Whatever you do, don't miss out on t...

This city sucks balls! It's such a small city, full of cracked roads and Pothole Capital of Canada. The population is always 200,000 people. It's such a pity that how people live in this garbage city. from Kitchener to Windsor all those cities are garbage. Toronto is the best but many won't agree because it's busy but it's not dirty like Windsor. If you can't stand the busy city then try Hamilton instead. It's closer to Toronto and it's a larger city than this mediocre city called Windsor. Try Niagara Falls it's bigger than Windsor. Don't try to go further than that. Brampton and Mississauga are good too. but I prefer Hamilton after Toronto. Windsor has no LRT and plans not to propose. I hate how Essex county is apart of Windsor. I mean Essex! I was invited by Broken City Lab for a residency to develop a project with them that would be similar to Art is Forever. Given that I would be working with BCL which is a community focused arts organization and not an art museum it seemed fitting to have the designs of the tattoos be designed around their city of Windsor, Ontario. Over the course of the residency we worked the Arts Council of Windsor & Region to host a sketch night where we developed tattoo design ideas with members of the community. During this time we also asked for Windsorites to submit a piece of writing telling us why "Windsor is Forever". From those submissions we selected individuals to receive free tattoos in an all day event at Broken City Lab. Thanks to everyone at Broken City Lab, the sketch night participan...

They contacted us to make a promotional video in our Engagement Film style that they could use to promote their photo business. We dig that 'cause there are no rules when it comes to making cool stuff and having fun with cool people. :) So they flew in from Canada and met us at a remote location in the Sierra Mountains of California at June Lake.
