The answer to all of those questions is and will remain “no,” because (as I discussed last week here with Bob Wright) the Charlie Hebdo ritual (for most, not all) was about many agendas having nothing to do with the free expression banner under which it paraded.
In that regard, Stephen Harper is the perfect Poster Boy for how free expression is tribalistically manipulated and exploited in the West. When the views being suppressed are ones amenable to those in power (e.g., cartoons mocking Islam), free speech is venerated; attempts to suppress those kinds of ideas show that “they have declared war on any country, like ourselves, that values freedom, openness and tolerance.” We get to celebrate ourselves as superior and progressive and victimized, and how good that feels. But when ideas are advocated that upset those in power (e.g. speech by Muslims critical of Western nations and their allies), the very same people acquiesce to, or expressly endorse, full-scale suppression. Thus can the Canadian Prime Minister pompously parade around as some sort of Guardian of Enlightenment Ideals only, three months later, to act like the classic tyrant."

The Government of Canada, formally Her Majesty's Government, is the system whereby the federation of Canada is administered by a common authority; in Canadian English, the term can mean either the collective set of institutions or specifically the Queen-in-Council. In both senses, the construct was established at Confederation, through the Constitution Act, 1867, as a constitutional monarchy, wherein the Canadian Crown acts as the core, or "the most basic building block," of the kingdom's Westminster-style parliamentary democracy. In Canadian English, the word government is used to refer both to the institutions that collectively govern the country and to the reigning monarch, or her viceroy, in her current council; when used in the latter context, the word is usually capitalized to make the distinction. Thus, Canadians would say the 28th Ministry is the Government that currently administers the Canadian government. Contrasts can be drawn with the British usage — where the government is synonymous with the state — and the American usage — where the Government is synonymous with the administration.

I asked the Library of Canada for information on who Canadians pay interest to and where did they get the money. They could not answer the question. The western world owes more than $145 trillion dollars and it doesn't seem like it is Africa or South America that had the money to lend. As human beings we double our production output regularly yet the middle class is shrinking and debt is increasing. Over 1 trillion dollars has been stolen from Canadians since 1974.
Up until 1974, Canadians had the Bank of Canada which had the responsibility for creating money in Canada. Up until that point, Canada had created some of the most massive infrastructure projects on the planet benefiting the people without debt. After 1974, the Canadian government started borrowing money from a private international banking cartel, which never had the assets to back the debt. Ponzi scheme. This is the same recipe that was applied to all western nations and is the reason for the state of the world today. These private banking thieves spend their resources on creating wars to distract the people and transfer further wealth to themselves.

The Harper government's stance on the divisive issue has been questioned anew because of a Toronto court case launched by a lesbian couple seeking a divorce. The federal lawyer is contending that non-Canadian gay and lesbian couples are only considered married under this country's laws if gay marriage is also recognized in their home country or state.

Syndicated sex columnist and It Gets Better Project co-founder Dan Savage said he woke up shocked and distressed when he learned the Canadian government might now consider his husband, only his boyfriend.
Savage married his husband, Terry Miller, in Vancouver in 2005. He said he was surprised by a report Thursday that Canada's legal position was that thousands of non-resident gay and lesbian couples who married in Canada were not legally wed.
"Although we were married in Canada, what the Harper government was saying yesterday is that our marriage isn't valid in Canada because its not recognized in Washington state, which is not true because Washington state does recognize legal same-sex marriages performed in other states, other countries," he told CTV's National Affairs Thursday.
