about me

I'm Gabor Orszaczky, a freelance front-end web developer and graphic designer with back-end experience. I'm 36 years old, originally from Hungary, currently living in Phuket, Thailand. I have about 15 years of graphic and web design experience, mostly front-end development (PhotoShop, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery). Lately I've been working as a UI/UX designer, creating complex interfaces and also programming single page apps (SPAs), both front and back-end using AngularJS, NodeJS, Express, MongoDB. I also have notable PHP and MySQL background.

MY BACKGROUND

I started as a freelance graphic and webdesigner in 2001, mostly creating print designs and simple websites. My focus quickly shifted from print designs to web related work. Building websites with increasing complexity required JavaScript knowledge, and later jQuery allowed me to build feature rich interfaces.

I always believed in functional design, and I kept the user's workflow in mind while creating cutting-edge designs. Having a system view and understanding the dynamic behavior of systems allows me to create complex UI's with a focus on user experience.

I always tried to create a smooth, native-app-like behavior in the browser and I believe that Single Page Applications (SPA) are the future.

With mobile devices, tablets, and similar gadgets gaining ground faster than most can keep up, it became essential to ensure that websites are properly displayed on these devices to allow smooth user interaction. Responsive and adaptive web design techniques allow websites to be displayed on devices with different screen resolution.
While websites can be made responsive, in many cases it is more practical to create a native app for mobile devices. It is always a nice challenge to transalte a system's functionality to a mobile app's level.
