This is a short video of my trip to Spiti Valley in August 2014.
I shot this video on my Nokia Lumia 925 and also on Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Samsung Galaxy S4.
Spiti Valley is a desert mountain valley located high in the Himalaya mountains in the north-eastern part of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The name "Spiti" means "The Middle Land", i.e. the land between Tibet and India.
It wouldn't have been possible with the help of Mr.Gokal Chand (Happy Campers), Sanju and Mintoo and also my best buddies Parag Bankar, Amey Hatiskar and Parag Pardhi.

As per wikipedia : Kaza is among the coldest places in India. The temperature varies greatly in a different seasons and during a day, January is the coldest period of a year with an average temperature of -37 °C

This short patch between Hikkim village and Kaza in Spiti valley of the Indian Himalayas passes through a road carved through a cliff making it one of the world's most dangerous roads.
We drive a Toyota Innova through this patch in mid November when the temperature was already going down to -8C.
The narrow and gravelled patch of road is knowns as Rewong Phoo and is definitely not for the weak hearted.

Spiti Valley is an amazing valley and dangerous while snow is falling. Roads are pretty much dangerous we took the ride from Delhi where we can see the ashram road full packed JAM and other side merely 2 or 3 vehicle on the road after kinnaur valley is over. Temp get down below -2 in the evening and -20 in the night. So watch it before you go.

Spiti Valley
The Spiti Valley is a desert mountain valley located high in the Himalaya mountains in the north-eastern part of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. The name "Spiti" means "The Middle Land", i.e. the land between Tibet and India.
It possesses a distinctive Buddhist culture similar to that found in the nearby Tibet Autonomous Region and the Ladakh region of India. The valley and surrounding region is one of the least populated regions in India and is the gateway to the northernmost reaches of the nation. Along the northern route from Manali, Himachal Pradesh or Keylong via the Rohtang Pass or Kunzum Pass respectively, the valley lies in the North East of the Indian hill state of Himachal Pradesh, and forms part of the Lahaul and Spiti district. The sub-divisional headquarters (capital) is Kaza, Himachal Pradesh which is situated along the Spiti River at an elevation of about 12,500 feet (3,800 m) above mean sea level.
Lahaul and Spiti is surrounded by high mountain ranges. The Rohtang Pass, at 13,054 feet (3,979 m), separates Lahul and Spiti from the Kullu Valley. Lahul and Spiti are cut off from each other by the higher Kunzum Pass, at 15,059 feet (4,590 m). A road connects the two divisions, but is cut off frequently in winter and spring due to heavy snow. The valley is likewise cut off from the north up to eight months of the year by heavy snowfalls and thick icing conditions. A southern route to India proper is periodically closed for brief periods in the winter storms of November through June, but road access is usually restored a few days after storms end via Shimla and the Sutlej in the Kinnaur district.

This short patch between Hikkim village and Kaza in Spiti valley of the Indian Himalayas passes through a road carved through a cliff making it one of the world's most dangerous roads.
We drive a Toyota Innova through this patch in mid November when the temperature was already going down to -8C.
The narrow and gravelled patch of road is knowns as Rewong Phoo and is definitely not for the weak hearted.

Temp get down below -2 in the evening and -20 in the night. So watch it before you go.

The Lonely planet Spiti Valley is a desert mountain valley of himachal pradesh, located high in the Himalaya mountains. The Meaning of name "Spiti" is "The Middle Land", the land between Tibet and India.
The beautiful valley and surrounding region is one of the least populated regions in India. The northern route from Manali, Himachal Pradesh or Keylong via the Rohtang Pass or Kunzum Pass respectively, the valley lies in the North East of the Indian hill state of Himachal Pradesh, and forms part of the Lahaul and Spiti district.
Lahaul and Spiti is surrounded by high mountain ranges. The Rohtang Pass, at 13,054 feet (3,979 m), separates Lahul and Spiti from the Kullu Valley. Lahul and Spiti are cut off from each other by the higher Kunzum Pass, at 15,059 feet (4,590 m).

SPITI: The Valley of Dharma
1000 years ago Rinchen Zangpo, the Great Translator, saved Buddhism from persecutions by hiding Buddha's teachings (Dharma) in the sPiti Valley. In 1933 Giuseppe Tucci, the gret tibetologist, made an expedition to this remote valley looking for the treasures hidden by Rinchen Zangpo. He found the ancient monasteries falling in ruin. Tucci reports that the few monks left were living in extremely poor material and spiritual conditions. In 1959 Tibetan Buddhism is persecuted again, this time by Maoists: the highly educated Lamas who weren't killed fled across the Himalaya. Some of these holy men took refuge in sPiti, exactly as it happened 10 centuries earlier, bringing with them loads of knowledge.
