Owen Smith (born 2 May 1970) is a British Labour Party politician, who has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Pontypridd since 2010, replacing the previous Labour MP Kim Howells, who decided to step down. In 2012, he joined Ed Miliband's Shadow Cabinet as Shadow Secretary of State for Wales.
Smith joined the Labour Party at the age of 16, studying History and French at the University of Sussex. He worked for the BBC as a radio producer for 10 years, working on a variety of programmes in both Wales and London, including Today for BBC Radio Four and Dragon's Eye for BBC Wales.
In 2002 he left to become special advisor for Paul Murphy, then the Secretary of State for Wales. He later followed Murphy to the Northern Ireland Office. Immediately prior to be elected, Smith worked for five years in the Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals industry. He was brought up in Pontypridd, where he lives with his wife and three children.

Plot: An intertwining story of murder and mystery across two decades. In the early twentieth century, several pregnant girls meet in a country house, where they have been sent to give birth and have their children adopted. The girls are never seen by outsiders again. Almost twenty years later, two historians return to the house to research the case, and when the disturbing truth is revealed, the dark story continues.
