Drake has failed to match Bryan Adams' 1991 record for the most consecutive weeks at number one on the UK Singles Chart.

The Canadian rapper's 15-week reign at the top with One Dance has been ended by Ed Sheeran and fellow Canadian Justin Bieber.

Rock star Adams, also born in Canada, logged 16 weeks at the top with (Everything I Do) I Do It For You, from the soundtrack to Kevin Costner film Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves.

Bieber and Danish singer MO feature on Cold Water, the new number one single by US electronic act Major Lazer, which has been co-written by Sheeran and Benny Blanco.

It notched up 102,000 combined sales to take the top spot, including 5.56 million streams and 47,000 downloads, according to the Official Charts Company.

Major Lazer told OfficialCharts.com: "We can't believe we have our first number one and are amazed at the support from the UK."

Hotline Bling star Drake has fallen to number five with One Dance.

However, he secured the record for the longest-running UK number one single since legal music downloads began counting towards chart positions.

The rest of the top five is made up of Jonas Blue's Perfect Strangers at number two and, a place below them, Britain's Got Talent contestant Calum Scott up to number three with Dancing On My Own.

The Chainsmokers' Don't Let Me Down is at number four this week.

On the Official Albums Chart, rock band ELO have scored their first number one in 35 years with h its retrospective All Around The World - The Very Best Of.

A decade after its original release, the collection recently passed the million-sales mark after Jeff Lynne's ELO's performance at Glastonbury.

Lynne said: "I'm totally amazed. Thanks to everyone that made it possible."

The band last topped the album chart with Time in August 1981.

Christine & The Queens' Chaleur Humaine hits a new peak at number two, with Drake a place below with Views.

Adele's 25 is down to number four and Coldplay's A Head Full Of Dreams rounds off the top five.

Enduring favourites Abba are up seven places to number 23 with their greatest hits collection Gold.

Meanwhile, constant headlines around Taylor Swift appears to be driving music sales.

The Shake It Off singer's number one-selling album 1989 continues to climb back up the chart and is at number 27 this week.

Jazz star Gregory Porter has two studio albums in the Official Album Chart following the success of his BBC Radio 2 In Concert gig on July 21.

Recent release Take Me To The Alley and 2013's Liquid Spirit are at number 11 and number 18, respectively.
