The Nutcracker (Russian: Щелкунчик, transcribed as Schelkunchik) is a 1973 Soviet/Russian animated film from the Soyuzmultfilm studio directed by Boris Stepantsev and based partly on Pyotr Tchaikovsky's ballet The Nutcracker, but more closely on E.T.A. Hoffmann's novelette The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, the story which inspired the ballet.

Part 1 "The Nutcracker" - an animated film based on the tale of Hoffmann and Tchaikovsky's ballet watch cartoon online
1974 in Gijon (Spain ) - First Prize " Pelayo del oro "
Conditional XIX century . In a rich house on the Christmas tree attracts children from wealthy families. During their holiday watching a servant girl (whose name is not called) , reminiscent of Cosette from " Les Miserables " by Victor Hugo. After the holiday, while cleaning the room she was dancing with a broom instead of a partner, and sees an abandoned nutcracker - the toy that split nuts and nearly broke . It wakes sorry for the Nutcracker , and he comes to life and tells his story .
Once he was a prince in a fairy-tale kingdom . In honor of his birth, the king made a great reception, and he [ Prince ] gave a lot of toys. Suddenly, from deep underground to receive a three-headed queen of the mice with her son (also a three-headed ), which is unhappy that it was not invited , and does prince mocking gift - an empty candy wrapper -shaped candy to disclosure. After unsuccessful attempts to defend themselves king still kill a mouse queen, but she has time to fill before the death of the evil spell : the nutcracker turns into a prince , and all the kingdom and its inhabitants are frozen . The mouse is the heir flees , taking the crown dead mother and threatened now fixed Nutcracker Prince with his fist , even meet with him.
After telling his story , The Nutcracker discovers that the house appears mouse army . It is headed by the Mouse King - the son of the queen was destroyed , did not hide his intention to seize the Nutcracker and be done with it. His soldiers are unsuccessfully trying to fight off the girl's Nutcracker , the Mouse King and then reduces it to toy size and captivates . Nutcracker gathers an army of Christmas decorations , giving battle and frees the girl, but he is captured by the Mouse King . Girl runs in the King his wooden shoe , which knocks the crown from his head and smashes it to bits. Mouse King Without a Crown loses his powers and is bursting with all his army.
Wooden shoe girl turns into a golden slipper. Picking up her wooden nutcracker cracks and takes the real face of the prince. Wearing a shoe , the girl also transformed into a princess , and they go on a magical journey to an enchanted kingdom that when a princess comes to life , and blossoms .
In the last frame shows an empty room with a Christmas tree , which lie on the floor of the abandoned wooden shoes and cracked wooden nutcracker - as a sign that the magic really happened .
In addition to music from the ballet "The Nutcracker" is used in the cartoon " Russian Dance" ( in the dance scene with a broom ) , Rothbart's theme of "Swan Lake" and the theme of the evil fairy Carabosse from "Sleeping Beauty ."

The Nutcracker (1973 film)
The Nutcracker (Russian: Щелкунчик, transcribed as Schelkunchik) is a 1973 Soviet/Russian animated film from the Soyuzmultfilm studio directed by Boris Stepantsev and based partly on Pyotr Tchaikovsky's ballet The Nutcracker, but more closely on E.T.A. Hoffmann's novelette The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, the story which inspired the ballet.
Ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov, who himself starred in his own classic TV edition of The Nutcracker in 1977, included the 1973 animated film as part of his PBS series Stories from my Childhood, of which he was the executive producer. For the U.S. telecast, narration spoken first by Hans Conried and later by Shirley MacLaine was added as well as a version without any narration. There is no dialogue in the original film, except for a few "chipmunk"-like squeals when the mice vanish and the squeals and laughter of the children in the party sequence. The music is taken from several of Tchaikovsky's compositions aside from The Nutcracker, including The Russian Dance, Swan Lake and The Sleeping Beauty.

In the last frame shows an empty room with a Christmas tree , which lie on the floor of the abandoned wooden shoes and cracked wooden nutcracker - as a sign that the magic really happened .

1974 in Gijon (Spain ) - First Prize " Pelayo del oro "
Conditional XIX century . In a rich house on the Christmas tree attracts children from wealthy families. During their holiday watching a servant girl (whose name is not called) , reminiscent of Cosette from " Les Miserables " by Victor Hugo. After the holiday, while cleaning the room she was dancing with a broom instead of a partner, and sees an abandoned nutcracker - the toy that split nuts and nearly broke . It wakes sorry for the Nutcracker , and he comes to life and tells his story .
Once he was a prince in a fairy-tale kingdom . In honor of his birth, the king made a great reception, and he [ Prince ] gave a lot of toys. Suddenly, from deep underground to receive a three-headed queen of the mice with her son (also a three-headed ), which is unhappy that it was not invited , and does prince mocking gift - an empty candy wrapper -shaped candy to disclosure. After unsuccessful attempts to defend themselves king still kill a mouse queen, but she has time to fill before the death of the evil spell : the nutcracker turns into a prince , and all the kingdom and its inhabitants are frozen . The mouse is the heir flees , taking the crown dead mother and threatened now fixed Nutcracker Prince with his fist , even meet with him.
After telling his story , The Nutcracker discovers that the house appears mouse army . It is headed by the Mouse King - the son of the queen was destroyed , did not hide his intention to seize the Nutcracker and be done with it. His soldiers are unsuccessfully trying to fight off the girl's Nutcracker , the Mouse King and then reduces it to toy size and captivates . Nutcracker gathers an army of Christmas decorations , giving battle and frees the girl, but he is captured by the Mouse King . Girl runs in the King his wooden shoe , which knocks the crown from his head and smashes it to bits. Mouse King Without a Crown loses his powers and is bursting with all his army.
Wooden shoe girl turns into a golden slipper. Picking up her wooden nutcracker cracks and takes the real face of the prince. Wearing a shoe , the girl also transformed into a princess , and they go on a magical journey to an enchanted kingdom that when a princess comes to life , and blossoms .
In the last frame shows an empty room with a Christmas tree , which lie on the floor of the abandoned wooden shoes and cracked wooden nutcracker - as a sign that the magic really happened .
In addition to music from the ballet "The Nutcracker" is used in the cartoon " Russian Dance" ( in the dance scene with a broom ) , Rothbart's theme of "Swan Lake" and the theme of the evil fairy Carabosse from "Sleeping Beauty ."
