There are many young locals, mostly college students who serve as guides. But with or without a guide, you will find the friendliness and warmth of the Ifugao people endearing. The terraces are vastly found in the province of Ifugao and the Ifugao people have been its caretakers. Ifugao culture revolves[6] around rice and the culture displ...

http://www.makaiohana.com We left Yangshuo back to Guilin and took a two hour bus to Longsheng where we found an excellent lunch. From there we prepared to head up to the Dragon's backbone rice Terraces. We hopped on a vehicle going that direction and ended up in Dazhai. This turned out to be a good thing, no tourists and at the top of the fields which put us in the perfect position for the early morning sunrise over the fields, absolutely beautiful. Hiking through the small Yao minority villages of the area on small trails through the rice fields was amazing.
Philippines Vlog: The Batad Rice Terraces are a world heritage site, built 2000 years ago and passed on from generation to generation. While Batad is a difficult location to get to, the experience is a rewarding one. After arriving by jeepney in Banaue, we checked into the Banaue Hotel, dropped off our backpacks and headed out to the Banaue Tourist Information Center, where you can hire a guide and tricycle for about 1,200 pesos or a Jeepney for $2000 pesos. They'll drive you to Saddle Point at the top of the ridge. The trek begins there, it's a steep, rugged hike down the mountain side into the village of Batad. The trek is approximately 1 1/2 hours each way. We're visiting during the end of wet season and got caught in heavy rainfall on the trek down to the rice terraces, there were ...
Philippines Vlog: Banaue is located in the mountain province of Ifugao, Northern Luzon, Philippines. The Banaue Rice Terraces are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Getting to the Banaue Rice Terraces is much easier than the Rice Terraces of Batad. No trekking is required and for only 200 Pesos, you can hire a tricycle to drive you to the viewpoint. There are three main stops along the way, where you can get out and photograph the picturesque scenery. It was so quiet and beautiful, just gazing out into the valley of terraces creates such a calm positive energy, it's a feeling and memory that stays with you. xo, Christine

For 2,000 years, the high rice fields of the Ifugao have followed the contours of the mountains. The fruit of knowledge handed down from one generation to the next, and the expression of sacred traditions and a delicate social balance, they have helped to create a landscape of great beauty that expresses the harmony between humankind and the environment. From the video, Legacy: Philippine World Heritage Sites (with Augusto Villalon, Directed by Butch Nolasco)
