Turn On the Bright Lights is the debut studio album by American post-punk revival band Interpol, released in August 2002. The album was recorded in November 2001 at Tarquin Studios in Connecticut, and was co-produced, mixed and engineered by Peter Katis and Gareth Jones. It was released on August 19, 2002 in the United Kingdom and August 20 in the United States, through independent record label Matador Records. Upon release, the record peaked at number 101 on the UK Albums Chart. It reached number 158 on the Billboard 200 in the United States, as well as spending 73 weeks in the Billboard Independent Albums, peaking at number five.
Many have pointed out the similarities between Turn On the Bright Lights and the music of The Chameleons.[2] "PDA," "NYC," "Obstacle 1" and "Say Hello to the Angels" were the singles from Turn On the Bright Lights, and a video was shot for each with the exception of "Say Hello to the Angels."

This Providence
This Providence was a four-piece alternative rock band from Seattle, Washington. The band consisted of Dan Young (lead vocals/guitar), David Blaise (bass), Gavin Phillips (lead guitar), and Andy Horst (drums).
Band history
Formation and early history
Daniel Young, Phil Cobrea, Gavin Phillips, and Paul Benson came together to form the band in 2003. Phillips and Young were in different pop punk bands in high school and came together when each dissolved. Young is Australian and was raised in Australia.
Our Worlds Divorce (2004)
While still in high school, the band gathered a strong following locally as well as some label attention. After graduating, they released their debut full-length record, Our Worlds Divorce, produced by Casey Bates.
In September 2005, This Providence announced that drummer Paul Benson was leaving the band to pursue new career paths, eventually with Apple Inc.. The band and Benson parted on good terms and stay in contact on a regular basis. They also announced their new drummer, Ryan Tapert, and informed that he would be playing his first show with them in November at the Paradox in Seattle.

The album was certified Gold by the RIAA on August 29, 2011 for shipments of 500,000 copies.
A remastered version of the album was released in 2012 to commemorate its tenth anniversary. It featured additional material including demo recordings of several tracks, the bonus songs previously available on international releases and a DVD of live performances and music videos.

At 2600 lumens, they are incredibly bright. A lot brighter in real life than what the cameras pickup. They were perfect for shooting this video, and gave us an amazingly bright and wide spread beam of light to be able to confidently go as fast as we could down the hill. Three longboarders flex down a winding mountain face in the cold of the night, equipped with nothing but a couple headlamps to tear through the darkness. As they battle their way through each turn, they fall deeper into an un-explored realm of stoke. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • L I G H T S We used 2 "Betty" headlamps from Lupine Lighting Systems in Germany. At 2600 lumens, they are incredibly bright. A lot brighter in real life than what the cameras pickup. They were perfect for shooting this video, and gave us an amazingly bright and wide spread beam of light to be able to confidently go as fast as we could down the hill. It was released on August 19, 2002 in the United Kingdom and August 20 in the United States, through independent record label Matador Records. Upon release, the record peaked at number 101 on the UK Albums Chart. It reached number 158 on the Billboard 200 in the United States, as well as spending 73 weeks in the Billboard Independent Albums, peaking at number five.

Three longboarders flex down a winding mountain face in the cold of the night, equipped with nothing but a couple headlamps to tear through the darkness. As they battle their way through each turn, they fall deeper into an un-explored realm of stoke.

L I G H T S
We used 2 "Betty" headlamps from Lupine Lighting Systems in Germany. At 2600 lumens, they are incredibly bright. A lot brighter in real life than what the cameras pickup. They were perfect for shooting this video, and gave us an amazingly bright and wide spread beam of light to be able to confidently go as fast as we could down the hill. I wouldn't recommend doing this with a cheap headlamp.

More than 2,000 spectators witnessed a South African first night skating event with skateboarders carving through the dark dressed in special LED light suits and skateboards.
The Smoke and Mirrors presented by Arbor Skateboards and Silver Bullet Productions featured a commercial shoot for Arbor Skateboards, complete with billowing smoke, headlights and special paint dust that kicked up an
amazing display as South Africa's top skateboarders finished their carving run with a steep slide turn called a puckdown slide.
Wayne de Lange, director of Silver Bullet, set up the shoot using customised suits with strips of bright LED lights sown into legs, arms, over running helmets and even stuck on skateboards.
De Lange said that the spectacle was a South African first, not so much by virtue of the individual elements of the evening, but because "We are bringing all these elements together and doing it properly".
Red, white, blue and green neon-lined 'aliens' loomed from the smoke and dust in the dark, as camera-laden booms, vehicles and other riders whizzed down the hill in front or behind them.
The smoke billowed, the eerie lights flew down the course, and the audience lining the street cheered and hooted as music pumped from the Red Bull DJ truck halfway up the hill.
"It was quite a vibe. While we were filming, it was also an excuse for everyone to have fun. Skating in the dark. How cool was that?
The Smoke and Mirrors took just after the sun set. Part of the inaugural Jeffreys Bay Winter Festival, it lasted two hours.

An unreflecting mind is a poor roof.

Suffers in this world and the next.
In both worlds he suffers

But whoever follows the dharma
Is joyful here and joyful there.
In both worlds he rejoices

However many holy words you read,

Are you a shepherd
Who counts another man's sheep,

Know the truth and find peace.

2. Wakefulness
Wakefulness is the way to life.
The fool sleeps
As if he were already dead,
But the master is awake
And he lives forever.
He watches.
He is clear.
How happy he is!
For he sees that wakefulness is life.
How happy he is,
Following the path of the awakened.
With great perseverance
He meditates, seeking
Freedom and happiness.
So awake, reflect, watch.
Work with care and attention.
Live in the way
And the light will grow in you.
By watching and working
The master makes for himself an
island
Which the flood cannot overwhelm.
The fool is careless.
But the master guards his watching.
It is his most precious treasure.

And to master them brings happiness.
But how subtle they are,
How elusive!
The task is to quieten them,
And by ruling them to find happiness.
With single-mindedness

He finds freedom.
How can a troubled mind
Understand the way?
If a man is disturbed
He will never be filled with knowledge.
An untroubled mind,

What is right and what is wrong,

Project description:
The installation consists of 14 disc like light motives that hang horizontally above the visitors. The motives have a diameter of 2,20m and an average of 1600 light points. The design of the motive pattern varies. The project is the result of a restricted competition organised by the City Council of Munich.
The project focuses not only on the design of the light motives but especially on the atmospheric effect that will be created. The lighting deals with the public space around the market kiosks. The light motives hang like big chandeliers above the visitors and turn the mostly dark space between the kiosks and trees in the winter months into a bright access hall to the market.
The distribution of the installation can be altered in the following years or augmented with additional light motives.

Three longboarders flex down a winding mountain face in the cold of the night, equipped with nothing but a couple headlamps to tear through the darkness. As they battle their way through each turn, they fall deeper into an un-explored realm of stoke. • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • L I G H T S We used 2 "Betty" headlamps from Lupine Lighting Systems in Germany. At 2600 lumens, they are incredibly bright. A lot brighter in real life than what the cameras pickup. They were perfect for shooting this video, and gave us an amazingly bright and wide spread beam of light to be able to confidently go as fast as we could down the hill. Upon release, the record peaked at number 101 on the UK Albums Chart. It reached number 158 on the Billboard 200 in the United States, as well as spending 73 weeks in the Billboard Independent Albums, peaking at number five.

Three longboarders flex down a winding mountain face in the cold of the night, equipped with nothing but a couple headlamps to tear through the darkness. As they battle their way through each turn, they fall deeper into an un-explored realm of stoke.

L I G H T S
We used 2 "Betty" headlamps from Lupine Lighting Systems in Germany. At 2600 lumens, they are incredibly bright. A lot brighter in real life than what the cameras pickup. They were perfect for shooting this video, and gave us an amazingly bright and wide spread beam of light to be able to confidently go as fast as we could down the hill. I wouldn't recommend doing this with a cheap headlamp.

More than 2,000 spectators witnessed a South African first night skating event with skateboarders carving through the dark dressed in special LED light suits and skateboards.
The Smoke and Mirrors presented by Arbor Skateboards and Silver Bullet Productions featured a commercial shoot for Arbor Skateboards, complete with billowing smoke, headlights and special paint dust that kicked up an
amazing display as South Africa's top skateboarders finished their carving run with a steep slide turn called a puckdown slide.
Wayne de Lange, director of Silver Bullet, set up the shoot using customised suits with strips of bright LED lights sown into legs, arms, over running helmets and even stuck on skateboards.
De Lange said that the spectacle was a South African first, not so much by virtue of the individual elements of the evening, but because "We are bringing all these elements together and doing it properly".
Red, white, blue and green neon-lined 'aliens' loomed from the smoke and dust in the dark, as camera-laden booms, vehicles and other riders whizzed down the hill in front or behind them.
The smoke billowed, the eerie lights flew down the course, and the audience lining the street cheered and hooted as music pumped from the Red Bull DJ truck halfway up the hill.
"It was quite a vibe. While we were filming, it was also an excuse for everyone to have fun. Skating in the dark. How cool was that?
The Smoke and Mirrors took just after the sun set. Part of the inaugural Jeffreys Bay Winter Festival, it lasted two hours.

Wakefulness is the way to life.
The fool sleeps

But the master is awake

He watches.

For he sees that wakefulness is life.

With great perseverance
He meditates, seeking
Freedom and happiness.
So awake, reflect, watch.

How can a troubled mind
Understand the way?
If a man is disturbed

Project description:
The installation consists of 14 disc like light motives that hang horizontally above the visitors. The motives have a diameter of 2,20m and an average of 1600 light points. The design of the motive pattern varies. The project is the result of a restricted competition organised by the City Council of Munich.
The project focuses not only on the design of the light motives but especially on the atmospheric effect that will be created. The lighting deals with the public space around the market kiosks. The light motives hang like big chandeliers above the visitors and turn the mostly dark space between the kiosks and trees in the winter months into a bright access hall to the market.
The distribution of the installation can be altered in the following years or augmented with additional light motives.

Upon release, the record peaked at number 101 on the UK Albums Chart. It reached number 158 on the Billboard 200 in the United States, as well as spending 73 weeks in the Billboard Independent Albums, peaking at number five.
Many have pointed out the similarities between Turn On the Bright Lights and the music of The Chameleons.[2] "PDA," "NYC," "Obstacle 1" and "Say Hello to the Angels" were the singles from Turn On the Bright Lights, and a video was shot for each with the exception of "Say Hello to the Angels."

Turn on the Bright Lights is the debut studio album by the American rock band Interpol.
Interpol es una banda neoyorquina de Post-punk/Indie Rock formada en 1998. La crítica musical los ha etiquetado como retro-rock o revival rock. Interpol tiene un estilo de rock oscuro, de raíces claramente ochenteras, que recuerda el post punk de los ingleses Joy Division y Bauhaus. También se acercan a la vertiente más sucia del rock independiente americano de Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr y, por parte del cantante Paul Banks, de Nirvana. También podemos señalar la influencia de los Pixies en los neoyorkinos, principalmente en la manera de afrontar la creación musical.
En sus inicios, la banda fue considerada una copia del mítico grupo de Ian Curtis, Joy Division, pero con el paso de los años la banda se ha convertido en una de las pioneras y más influyentes bandas del Post Punk Revival.
Su historia comienza en 1998, cuando Greg Drudy y Daniel Kessler se conocieron en la Universidad de Nueva York, incorporándose después Carlos Dengler. Cuando necesitaron un vocalista, recurrieron a un viejo amigo británico que Kessler había conocido en París, Paul Banks. En 2000 Greg Drudy dejó la banda, y Kessler lo sustituyó por Sam Fogarino, a quien conoció en una tienda de discos local. Al final la banda quedó compuesta por Paul Banks (vocalista, guitarra, letras), Daniel Kessler (guitarra, segundas voces), Carlos Dengler ( bajo y piano) y Sam Fogarino (batería).
Tras dos años de actuaciones por el circuito alternativo de Nueva York y sus alrededores, publicaron el EP "Interpol" (2000), con la compañía Fukd, firma underground de la Chemikal. Un año después, tras asistir al famoso programa inglés de la BBC de John Peel, despegan definitivamente, firmando con el sello Matador. Con esta compañía editan a finales de 2002 un EP homónimo como adelanto de su debut en largo, "Turn On the Bright Lights" (2002, Matador) que fue considerado uno de los mejores discos de 2002. Más tarde lanzaron otro EP, "The Black" (2003), con la compañía EMI.
En el 2004 lanzan su disco "Antics" con un sonido más ligero y digerible. La banda logra nuevamente con este disco tener un éxito tanto de público como de crítica. En 2007, durante su presentación en el Festival de Coachella 2007, dan a conocer su nuevo material de producción, "Our Love to Admire", que representa una maduración por parte de la banda, con un sonido más atmosférico y diverso y con canciones experimentales.

Once upon a time, two devoted sweethearts set out on a summer afternoon to enjoy the sunshine, the warm breeze and the pleasure of each other’s company. Mickey and Minnie were so happy that they were certain everyone must feel the same. But the last joy is not found in all hearts. Where there should be the lough, kindness, there is jealousy and anger. The witch Mizrabel, had such a heart. One filled with darkness and envy. Suddenly the day was turned to night. In the brief moment that Mickey closed his eyes against the bright flash of lighting, his happiness was taken away. The evil witch Mizrabel, had kidnapped Minnie. The old Mizrabel, has always been jealous of her beauty. As Mizrabel took to the sky with his beloved Minnie, Mickey knew he had to act fast. He chased the witch through the forest and all the way to the Castle of Illusion. The castle stood out against the skyline like a shadow from a horrible nightmare. Lost and alone what was Mickey to do? A mysterious old mouse told him that the witch’s plans are truly wicked! Using a magic’s spell she intends to steal Minnie’s youth and beauty. Your sweetheart- says the old mouse, will be left as hideous as the witch is now and her heart will contain only hate and anger.
To save Minnie, the mysterious mouse said that Mickey must find the seven rainbow gems that will create the rainbow bridge. It will take him to where Minnie is being held. But he must be aware of the gem keepers. They are Mizrabel’s prime ministers of misery and won’t give up their treasures easily. Mickey didn’t take the old mouse’s words likely. He thanked him and rushed to the castle gates.
The castle of Illusion is Mizrabel’s playground. Nothing there is as it seems. During the game, Mickey visits various worlds in order to obtain seven rainbow gems that can build a rainbow bridge to the castle tower where Minnie is being held.
Be very careful and help Mickey to save his one true love! Every level ends in a boss battle against one of Mizrabel's henchmen where Mickey can earn a gem, although there are two levels where a gem is earned half-way through.
In this first part of the game your job is to help Mickey in collecting the seven rainbow gems. Good Luck!
