I am uploading this to help dispel the notion that Alzheimer's disease just makes you forgetful. It is a Fatal disease that slowly kills your brain over the course of years. There is no cure or even any treatment to slow the progression of the disease. My father clings to some the sense of doing chores, but just wanders around the house constantly doing things like this. I lost my mother to cancer nearly twenty years ago, and I think this disease is far far worse. This year will be my 5th Annual Alzheimer's Fundraiser, what I raise goes to the Alzheimer's Association NYC Chapter. Music has a major impact on people with Alzheimer's / Dementia.
If you are an artists or celebrity that would like to be a part of this please contact me.
It will be at Club Allure in Queens, NY and the date is August 8, 2014 from 10pm to 4am.
Can you image one day waking up and not knowing who your own children were, who your wife or husband was. Can you imagine having breakfast and the minute you were finished eating you start asking for food because you cant remember that you just ate.
Can you imagine all your memories being wiped away in a moment - Your wedding day - The birth of your child - Your first kiss - Your First love - Your identity!
Can you image the look on your families face and the hurt in their hearts when that moment came when you no longer know who they are and you never again will.
This is my story - This is my Dad! - This is why I have become involved with the Alzheimer's Association NYC Chapter.
This is why i FIGHT - I FIGHT for people that cant fight for themselves. I SPEAK for people that cant SPEAK.
I am trying to make a difference and help find a cure for this HORRIBLE disease but i NEED help.
Alzheimer's is the THIRD-leading cause of death in the country and the only cause of death among the top 10 in the United States that cannot be prevented, cured or even slowed. Based on mortality data from 2000-2008, death rates have declined for most major diseases while deaths from Alzheimer's disease have risen 66 percent during the same period.
In the United States, an estimated 5.4 million people are living with Alzheimer's disease, and someone develops the disease every 69 seconds. Unless something is done, as many as 16 million Americans will have Alzheimer's in 2050 and someone will develop the disease every 33 seconds !!
