Great guy. Only 30 year old, but colt started already
1023 horses (he keeps with a diary).
He has worked on cattle ranches since he was ten years old. He quickly found his love of horses. Ben had the privilege to study horsemanship under
Ronny Willis, John Hovde,
Tink Alordie and many other horsemen as well as listening to what the horses have to share with him.
Il m'a impressionné; 30 ans, déjà 1023 débourrages, dont, selon lui les premiers quelques 800 tous avec un défaut à cause de son débourrage. Il ne se considère toujours pas au niveau natural horseman. Parmi plein de geste et exercices que je pense reconnaitre de l'école de
Pat Parelli (La Cense), j'aperçois qu'il montre au cheval la direction avec son doi

Il m'a dit qu'il n'est pas un dompteur qui dresse des chevaux pour faire des figures imposées sans qu'il bouge, mais de faire les efforts ensemble, être partenaire du cheval. C'est bien cela. Finalement, il m'a parlé d'un de ses rencontres avec
Buck Brannaman.
Buck l'a vu faire du team roping, cela lui apparemment a plu, car Buck l'approchait après la séance. Buck lui a partagé son
point de vue sur le "soft feel", qu'il avait constaté lors de l'acte de roping de Ben et son cheval. En effet, les signaux devient soft, quand imprégner dans "le mémoire de la peau". Hmmm, vous connaissez ? Mon interprétation : le moindre poids sur un point d'appui ne fait plus réfléchir le cheval avant son acte, mais l'appuie est devenu reflexe, donc action direct sans délai. Ce témoignage de
30 minutes me montre clairement l'apprentissage de cette codification. Je trouve cela formidable.
