Are you living in one of the areas of Australia that are drought-stricken but would still love to have a lush, green lawn? There’s no need to give up hope as synthetic grass has come a long and now looks just as good, if not better, than the real thing.
Synthetic grass can be used in all situations, from full sun, to heavily shaded areas, where real grass will often not grow. It also works great on sloping land, around the swimming pool, and it stands up to the rigours of pets and children. It is also great for people that suffer from grass allergies.
Synthetic grass is as low maintenance as other surface as pavers, as once it’s laid; it never needs to be watered, fertilised or mowed. Not only will you be helping to save precious water supplies, you’ll be helping the environment and saving yourself money as well as time. You will be able to enjoy your garden, rather than have to spend your weekends maintaining the lawn.
When installing the grass, it does need to be laid on the correct base, usually a prepared base that is similar to that used in paving. This makes sure that the grass lays flat and looks as real as possible. Once the grass has been laid, sand and/or granulated rubber is swept in to help secure the grass and help make it feel as natural as possible.
The grass itself is made from polypropylene or polyethylene and is extremely stain resistant. However, any messes should be promptly cleaned up by scraping it off the surface, or mopping or wiping it up. It is also resistant to fading and deterioration caused by sunlight.
