I took train trip from South Bend to Chicago and return. I went on train # 504. They had less stops than other train route. I returned on train # 507. I noticed some people waiting at platform at 11th St at Michigan City for train. But train didn't stop and pick them up. They stopped at red lights for about 15 second then leave. I saw old electric locomotive and old post's stuff at Michigan City.

SCANNED FROM SUPER 8 MM FILM IN FULL 1080I HD
By the late 1970s, the Chicago, South Shore and South Bend Railroad was living out the last years as a step-child of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway. The C&O; had purchased the South Shore in 1965 as a bridge route for its freight business. A decade later, the drain on revenues from extensive passenger operations was taking its toll on the 91 mile railway running from downtown Chicago to South Bend, Indiana.
Born shortly after the dawn of the twentieth century, the South Shore had been the sturdiest of Samuel Insull's network of Midwestern electric interurban railways and it managed to survive on that strength when all the others faded away. By 1976, the paint on the cars was chipped and frayed, and the many stations were becoming, well, a little run-down.
Despite this, the South Shore rolled on in the hands of its capable employees. Join with us as we look at the 1976-1980 era South Shore through the movie camera lens of Roger M. Koenig.

As seen in this video, it's the site of at least one open air drug market and dozens of boarded-up apartment buildings and retail spaces. For South Shore to rebound in the coming years, the problems of Terror Town will have to be addressed, says Jeff Heilbrunn, a South Shore native who now works at a marketing adviser with Builders Center of Chicago, which has converted several apartment buildings in the neighborhood.

You may notice we have bicycles, I keep one there and Roxana uses my Mom's bike. We're visiting my Mom she's still in the same house i grew up in. Despite the heat, humidity and bugs we spent nearly every minute outside. Long Island may be a crowded suburb but there is still a fair amount of beautiful nature to hike in.. time links below will skip you ahead and have more details about the scenes.
After a 6am arrival at JFK we'll take the AirTrain from JFK to Jamaica Station, the Long Island Rail Road to Penn Station in Manhattan and then walked to Times Square. From there we take the Subway to Washington Square and walk awhile...

0:53 NYC High School of Economics and Finance. My father was teaching here on 9/11. They were evacuating students on the street when the second tower fell. The first tower fell while he was still inside. He had to walk several miles across a bridge to get home. His physics and chemistry background meant he was able to help with testing for contaminants so he was back at the site taking samples helping determine when it was safe for people to return to the area. Dad passed away in 2007 to unrelated issues. Before teaching he was an aeronautical engineer. "If it flies and drops bombs I probably had something to do with it" he said, plus test and design work on the apollo 11 LEM and F14.

A newly formed tropical depression is likely to strengthen into a hurricane and could pass over or near Hawaii as a tropical storm next week ... So the storm could still pass well south or north of the islands without much effect on Hawaii’s weather ... It is expected to reach hurricane strength tonight and could send surf to east shores of Hawaii next week, depending on the strength of the winds and its eventual path ... ....
