Human swimming is the self-propulsion of a person through water or another liquid, usually for recreation, sport, exercise, or survival. Locomotion is achieved through coordinated movement of the limbs, the body, or both. Humans can hold their breath underwater and undertake rudimentary locomotive swimming within weeks of birth, as an evolutionary response.
Swimming is consistently among top public recreational activities, and in some countries, swimming lessons are a compulsory part of the educational curriculum. As a formalized sport, swimming features in a range of local, national, and international competitions, including every modern summer Olympics, which takes place every four years.
Swimming relies on the natural buoyancy of the human body. On average, the body has a relative density of 0.98 compared to water, which causes the body to float. However, buoyancy varies on the basis of both body composition and the salinity of the water. Higher levels of body fat and saltier water both lower the relative density of the body and increase its buoyancy.

http://radx.ca - Wearing nothing but a speedo and a swimming cap Lewis Pugh plunges into freezing cold water. He pushes the limits both physically and mentally swimming in temperatures no human body should be able to withstand. Will he be able to break the world record and make it to the finish line or will the freezing cold temperatures win this battle of both body and mind? If Olympic athletes weren't concerned with getting the Zika virus or being mugged at nighttime, here's something else to add to the list: toxic water. Yes, the 2016 Summer Olympics are already really, really gross — and they haven't even started yet. On top of all of the Olympic village housing issues already happening, officials are telling athletes to keep their mouths closed when in Rio de Janeiro's water to avoid getting extremely sick. "This is just unreal. This water is black," a CBS reporter said. The New York Times reports Guanabara Bay, where the games' sailing and windsurfing events are set to held, is more contaminated with toxic pathogens than previously thought. A local pediatrician told the Times, "Foreign athletes will literally be swimming in human crap, and they r...
Luke Stockett improved the design of the custom designed whale-fin inspired as shown in this footage. By basing a hand fin on the hydrodynamics of a hump back whale fin it allows for reduced stalling angle because of the way it creates counter-rotating currents of water with each stroke. I've also included a built-in wrist support and the final product is extremely light-weight because it is mostly made of foam with a small amount of balsa wood embedded in the foam for added support so it doesn't break when applying force with each stroke. These hand fins allow you to maintain your maximum swimming speed at a fraction of the energy of normal swimming. Plus, since the hand alignment is identical to proper swimming it actually improves your non-augumented swimming ability because it works wi...
Oliver is my pet Sebastopol goose. He is three years old and lives indoors and wears a diaper. We go everywhere together, shopping, garage sales, school visits and we even swim together in our swimming pool. He is imprinted on me and he thinks he is human. He doesn't know that he is a goose. Unless you have a goose or a duck for a pet, you will never understand the extraordinary bond that occurs when sharing your life with one of these precious creatures. I have written three children's books about Oliver and often read my stories in classrooms, inspiring the students to read and write about what they are passionate about.
Servant Christian Rock Band: The Dance is a song recorded by the 1980's classic Christian rock band Servant on their sixth album "Swimming in a Human Ocean". Servant recorded the LP "Swimming in a Human Ocean" in the summer of 1985 in three locations: Grand Slam Studios in West Orange, New Jersey; at Quad Studios adjacent to Times Square in NYC; and using a mobile recording studio at various locations in Maryland. The LP was the last time Servant would enter into the recording studio together. It was never released on CD. The song "The Dance" was written by vocalist, Eric Odell, lead guitarist, Bruce Wright, and keyboardist, Matt Spransy, who collaborated both on the music and the lyrics. Contemporary Christian Music, Christian Rock Band, Gospel Rock, Classic Christian Rock, Vi...
Creepy creature caught on video swimming in the ocean. The bizarre creature called Ningen floats through the water before the video suddenly cuts. A mysterious 'human- like monster' has been spotted swimming in the icy water of Antarctica in bizarre footage. The giant humanoid appears to have been captured on an underwater camera and looks like it is floating through the ocean. The creature is said to be between 60 and 90 feet in length and has been described as a "blubbery, whale-like creature" whose body vaguely resembles the torso and appendages of a human. These beasts have supposedly been seen in the Pacific, Antarctic and Atlantic Oceans, and are always described as being extraordinarily large with a whitish complexion.

Known as the 'Crocodile Man', Costa Rican animal lover 'Chito' swims, plays and even feeds 'Pocho' the giant crocodile in what is one of the world's most unlikely friendships. The Man Who Swims with Crocodiles Documentary follows Chito, a Costa Rican fisherman who is one of the only men ever known to tame a crocodile with people traveling from all over the country to marvel at their bond. He nursed the animal back to health after discovering him blinded by the bullet of a hunter over 20 years ago. Feeling strongly compelled to investigate these legends first hand, Roger Horrocks visits a Costa Rican shaman, "Chito" that swims with a giant croc and even rides on the back of the ancient reptile. This and many other stories confirms Roger's belief that these giant crocodiles have the ability...
