Discovery Channel once made a tv series a long while back entitled Lonely Planet in which Justine Shapiro (Helen Shapiro Daughter) travelled into Britain (To promote GB for tourism) at Dover, went north into London experiencing all sorts of Britishness, then north again, meeting up with Brioni & I with Stokie No1 our narrow boat at Norton Junction on the Grand Union Canal, and travelling by boat down to Braunston.. Stokie was our home and business selling diesel & Coal.
Sorry, I started singing, while in the tunnel forgot the words too and when she asked how the boatmen in the old days before the diesel engine got the boats through the tunnels in those old days, I fluffed it and said They laid on the roof and legged the boats through. Of course, the working boats didn't have roofs. So I fluffed that too.. No one noticed at the time. On entering the tunnel at Braunston, the sun was shining and the day was warm. By the time we exited, everything changed. We had thunder and lightening and torrential rain. All filming stopped. Hey ho, thats life.
Great days for us both and seemingly a very long time ago. Our lives have changed immeasurably since. We sold Stokie in 2008. I've lost loads of videos from our great days and when I found a couple in a box i considered it safer to upload for safer keeping. Thank you

Waterworld. Canals UK. Braunston. Hillmorton,1998 ish. Stokie & Dale Howlett.
Way back a few years ! Carlton TV made a series titled "Waterworld" it documented people and the Canals of Britain.This episode was one that Brioni Sharman & i (John Chard) took part in with a young lad named Dale Howlett. We were moored at Hillmorton Wharf Rugby.
Dale so far as I remember was 11 years of age and had a great talent for building model boats from scratch. As a result of that , Dale created one of our "Stokie". Even though our real boat is long sold, we still have Dales model on show in our American RV. As far as we know, this is the only episode of Waterworld thats on You Tube. Timothy West did the narration. This is a very bad reproduction due to having originally recorded to VHS then to DVD. I thought I'd actually lost the copy as when we sold Stokie in 2008 we think all the VHS Tapes ended up in the dust bin by mistake. Today I stumbled across an old HDD and low and behold, this Waterworld episode was on it.
Finally, given the chance to relive our years on the canals, we certainly would, it was an amazing time. However health dictates, Nowadays, we run a small campsite called Court Farm in Gloucestershire. You can find us on Twitter @houseyankee

John Chard played by Stanley Baker while they attempt to defend themselves with 140 soldiers against 4000 Zulu warriors. Based on the battle for Rorke's Drift on the 22nd and 23rd of January 1879. The movie was shot in Africa with some 700 actual Zulu warriors and the soundtrack was so intense that it was reused by Ridley Scott in the movie "Gladiator" with the Germanic tribes crying out the Zulu warrior chants. Go and watch the first ten minutes of "Gladiator" and you will hear the Zulu warriors.

John Chard
Colonel John Rouse Merriott Chard VC (21 December 1847 – 1 November 1897) was a British Army officer who received the Victoria Cross, the highest military decoration for valour "in the face of the enemy" that can be awarded to members of the British armed forces. He earned the decoration for his role in the defence of Rorke's Drift in January 1879 where he commanded a small British garrison of 139 soldiers that successfully repulsed an assault by some 3,000 to 4,000 Zulu warriors. The battle was recreated in the film Zulu in which Chard was portrayed by Stanley Baker.
Born near Plymouth, Chard attended the Royal Military Academy in Woolwich and was commissioned into the Royal Engineers in July 1868. He was involved with the construction of naval fortifications in Bermuda and Malta before he was deployed to southern Africa at the start of the Anglo-Zulu War. At the end of the war he returned to a hero's welcome in England and was invited to an audience with Queen Victoria. After a series of overseas postings he took up his final position in Perth, Scotland. He retired from the army as a colonel in 1897 after he was diagnosed with terminal cancer and died at his brother's home in Somerset later that year.

Way back a few years ! Carlton TV made a series titled "Waterworld" it documented people and the Canals of Britain.This episode was one that Brioni Sharman & i (John Chard) took part in with a young lad named Dale Howlett. We were moored at Hillmorton Wharf Rugby.
Dale so far as I remember was 11 years of age and had a great talent for building model boats from scratch. As a result of that , Dale created one of our "Stokie". Even though our real boat is long sold, we still have Dales model on show in our American RV. As far as we know, this is the only episode of Waterworld thats on You Tube. Timothy West did the narration. This is a very bad reproduction due to having originally recorded to VHS then to DVD. I thought I'd actually lost the copy as when we sold Stokie in 2008 we think all the VHS Tapes ended up in the dust bin by mistake. Today I stumbled across an old HDD and low and behold, this Waterworld episode was on it.
Finally, given the chance to relive our years on the canals, we certainly would, it was an amazing time. However health dictates, Nowadays, we run a small campsite called Court Farm in Gloucestershire. You can find us on Twitter @houseyankee

John Chard played by Stanley Baker while they attempt to defend themselves with 140 soldiers against 4000 Zulu warriors. Based on the battle for Rorke's Drift on the 22nd and 23rd of January 1879. The movie was shot in Africa with some 700 actual Zulu warriors and the soundtrack was so intense that it was reused by Ridley Scott in the movie "Gladiator" with the Germanic tribes crying out the Zulu warrior chants. Go and watch the first ten minutes of "Gladiator" and you will hear the Zulu warriors.

Battle of Rorke's Drift
The Battle of Rorke's Drift, also known as the Defence of Rorke's Drift, was a battle in the Anglo-Zulu War. The defence of the mission station of Rorke's Drift, under the command of Lieutenant John Chard of the Royal Engineers, and Lieutenant Gonville Bromhead immediately followed the British Army's defeat at the Battle of Isandlwana on 22 January 1879, and continued into the following day, 23 January. Just over 150 British and colonial troops successfully defended the garrison against an intense assault by 3,000 to 4,000 Zulu warriors. The massive, but piecemeal, Zulu attacks on Rorke's Drift came very close to defeating the tiny garrison but were ultimately repelled. • From the 2011 Mortal Kombat game (MK9), this is the full movie edited from my playthrough of the game back in 2011. There is little gameplay because it was my first time through the Story campaign, and I was still a noob. Enjoy the movie, in preparation for Mortal Kombat X.

Mortal Kombat 9 (2011) Description:
During the events of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, both the forces of light and darkness have been annihilated, with only the thunder god Raiden and Shao Kahn remaining to represent them. A severely weakened Raiden is about to be killed by Shao Kahn, but casts a last-minute spell on his now-shattered magical amulet, directing it to contact his past self with the vague message "He must win", and the camera rewinds back to Mortal Kombat 1. The Raiden from Mortal Kombat 1 then gets the message and experiences a premonition. The game then spans Mortal Kombat 1, 2, and 3, retelling the story with an enlightened Raiden, who has changed the course of events. Eventually, everything the player has seen happen before — Liu Kang winning, Lin Kuei turning into cybernetic ninjas, has been altered. The epic story concludes with a reminder that the rules of Mortal Kombat are absolute.
