I always start a capture and stop at approximately 1,000 packets when onsite (with the client’s permission of course). I do not need a tsp, mirror/span port. Then I review the various protocols, services sent out on the wire by any network connected device. I will see packets from clients, servers, phones, printers, switches, routers, etc….
By analyzing this traffic I can make suggestions to clean up this ‘space junk’ that is floating around your network. The benefits of going through this exercise are many. For example you will have less packets to sift through when analyzing a problem, in extreme cases, I have seen standard configurations cause broadcast storms that were easily fixed by cleaning up the desktop standard configuration. In other cases, I have found misconfigured load balancing, misconfigured ip helper address, and the list goes on.
I encourage you to take a quick sample of your network traffic and give it a try. You will be surprised with what you find.
In this video, I cover STP, LLDP, CDP, NTP, LLMNR, IPv6 and SSDP, what they look like in your trace and what to do when you come across them and how to leverage the Protocol Hierarchy and Endpoint report.

Through the power of crowdfunding, SSDP will continue to roll back disastrous drug prohibition policies, and demonstrate that we are a strong grassroots movement.

IP address
An Internet Protocol address (IP address) is a numerical label assigned to each device (e.g., computer, printer) participating in a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication. An IP address serves two principal functions: host or network interface identification and location addressing. Its role has been characterized as follows: "A name indicates what we seek. An address indicates where it is. A route indicates how to get there."

LigoDLB series needs an IP address, which will be obtained from a DHCP Server. In case there is no DHCP available, the LigoDLB unit will use the IP 192.168.66/24.
The LigoDLB series supports the SSDP protocol and BONJOUR protocol (firmware v7.5 and up) which allow it to find devices without external tools or programs when the units obtain IP by DHCP.
How to enable SSDP protocol discovery on WINDOWS?
1. Choose to change advanced sharing settings under the Network And Sharing Center.
2. Turn on the network discovery.
3. Turn off and turn on the LigoDLB unit. It should appear under your network devices.
4. Right click on the device. You can see some useful information (serial number, mac address, IP address) by clicking on the properties option or getting access to the WEB GUI by selecting the option view device webpage.

I always start a capture and stop at approximately 1,000 packets when onsite (with the client’s permission of course). I do not need a tsp, mirror/span port. Then I review the various protocols, services sent out on the wire by any network connected device. I will see packets from clients, servers, phones, printers, switches, routers, etc….
By analyzing this traffic I can make suggestions to clean up this ‘space junk’ that is floating around your network. The benefits of going through this exercise are many. For example you will have less packets to sift through when analyzing a problem, in extreme cases, I have seen standard configurations cause broadcast storms that were easily fixed by cleaning up the desktop standard configuration. In other cases, I have found misconfigured load balancing, misconfigured ip helper address, and the list goes on.
I encourage you to take a quick sample of your network traffic and give it a try. You will be surprised with what you find.
In this video, I cover STP, LLDP, CDP, NTP, LLMNR, IPv6 and SSDP, what they look like in your trace and what to do when you come across them and how to leverage the Protocol Hierarchy and Endpoint report.

Issuing a circular to all 75 DEOs recently, DoE asked them to form a District Level Technical Committee to effectively implement SSDP in the districts. SSDP is a seven-year plan aimed at ensuring equitable access to quality education for all ... SSDP was endorsed by the Cabinet on October 24 ... The DLTC will support the DEOs in selecting schools and students for SSDP grants as well as in releasing grants given through the DEOs....

Education Minister Dhaniram Paudel said the ministry is was all set to implement the SSDP from the current fiscal after it was endorsed by the Cabinet on October 24. He said, “We have prepared this SSDP by evaluating past experiences, international practices, federal structure of the country, and Post Disaster Need Assessment and Post Disaster Recovery Framework after the earthquakes last year.”....
