Congressman John Lewis staged a sit-in protest on the floor of congress. The congressional Democrats want to vote on a bill to restrict suspects on the terrorist watch list from buying firearms. “Georgia congressman John Lewis deployed a strategy from his days as a civil rights activist and coupled it with social media to stage a dramatic sit-in Wednesday on the House floor with his fellow Democrats to force a vote on gun control.
"Sometimes you have to do something out of the ordinary, sometimes you have to make a way out of no way," said Lewis, one of the last living icons of the civil rights movement. "There comes a time when you have to say something, when you have to make a little noise, when you have to move your feet. This is the time. Now is the time to get in the way. The time to act is now. We will be silent no more."
Lewis and roughly 40 fellow House Democrats began by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance as a couple dozen visitors in the gallery looked on and vowing "to occupy the floor of the House until there is action."
Other Democrats began chanting: "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired!" and "No bill, no break!"

“Sen. Bernie Sanders is still talking like a guy who’s running for president. But frustrated House Democrats — who booed him at one point during a morning meeting — say it’s time to stop.
With the Democratic convention just weeks away, Sanders still hasn’t endorsed one-time rival Hillary Clinton and dodged questions about when he would during a tense meeting Wednesday morning with House Democrats.
Sanders also stunned some of the Democrats in attendance when he told them that winning elections isn’t the only thing they should focus on. While they wanted to hear about how to beat Donald Trump — and how Sanders might help them win the House back — he was talking about remaking the country.
“The goal isn’t to win elections, the goal is to transform America,” Sanders said at one point, according to multiple lawmakers and aides in the room.”

Paul Ryan
Paul Davis Ryan (born January 29, 1970) is the 54th and current Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. Ryan is a member of the Republican Party, who has served as the U.S. Representative for Wisconsin's 1st congressional district since 1999. Ryan previously served as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, from January 3 to October 29, 2015, and, before that, as Chairman of the House Budget Committee from 2011 to 2015. He was the Republican Party nominee for Vice President of the United States, running alongside Governor Mitt Romney in the 2012 election. Ryan, together with Democratic Senator Patty Murray, negotiated the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013.
On October 29, 2015, Ryan was elected to replace John Boehner as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, and named John David Hoppe as his Chief of Staff. He is the first person from Wisconsin to hold this position.
Early life and education
Ryan was born in Janesville, Wisconsin, the youngest of four children of Elizabeth A. "Betty" (née Hutter) and Paul Murray Ryan, a lawyer. A fifth-generation Wisconsinite, his father was of Irish ancestry and his mother is of German and English ancestry. One of Ryan's paternal ancestors settled in Wisconsin prior to the Civil War. His great-grandfather, Patrick William Ryan (1858–1917), founded an earthmoving company in 1884, which later became P. W. Ryan and Sons and is now known as Ryan Incorporated Central. Ryan's grandfather, Stanley M. Ryan, was appointed U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin.

"Sometimes you have to do something out of the ordinary, sometimes you have to make a way out of no way," said Lewis, one of the last living icons of the civil rights movement. "There comes a time when you have to say something, when you have to make a little noise, when you have to move your feet. This is the time. Now is the time to get in the way. The time to act is now. We will be silent no more."
Lewis and roughly 40 fellow House Democrats began by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance as a couple dozen visitors in the gallery looked on and vowing "to occupy the floor of the House until there is action."

Bernie Sanders had a meeting with congressional Democrats, and it doesn’t seem he was very well received. Reports even say he was booed by the legislators. Cenk Uygur and John Iadarola, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
“Sen. Bernie Sanders is still talking like a guy who’s running for president. But frustrated House Democrats — who booed him at one point during a morning meeting — say it’s time to stop.
With the Democratic convention just weeks away, Sanders still hasn’t endorsed one-time rival Hillary Clinton and dodged questions about when he would during a tense meeting Wednesday morning with House Democrats.
Sanders also stunned some of the Democrats in attendance when he told them that winning elections isn’t the only thing they should focus on. While they wanted to hear about how to beat Donald Trump — and how Sanders might help them win the House back — he was talking about remaking the country.
“The goal isn’t to win elections, the goal is to transform America,” Sanders said at one point, according to multiple lawmakers and aides in the room.”

Democrat Socialist Progressives have always been the political party of the Slave Owner because they are the party that who are purposely trying to make Blacks, Hispanics, Latinos, and Mexicans dependent on the handouts of an ever growing federal government. Blacks and Hispanics all over America are escaping from the Democrat plantation. Now the liberals resort to name calling as a lame attempt call Blacks and Hispanics back into the Socialist Plantation where they lose their constitutional rights and personal property.
Millions of Americans are now realizing the true history of political parties within America. Historically, blacks faced discrimination and injustice by progressives, socialists, and liberals in congress. Today these same liberal democrats and progressives falsely accuse republicans and conservatives of the very racism that Democrats have a long history of inflicting and still do today. No longer can liberals rewrite and revise Black History. Meanwhile, Liberal feminist Margaret Sanger created planned Parenthood to exterminate blacks and other minorities through abortion. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) lashed out at Senate Democrats on Thursday over a 15-hour filibuster to demand action on gun safety measures. On Wednesday, Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy (D) successfully seized control of the Senate floor from 11:21 a.m. until after 2 a.m. to force Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to allow a vote on expanded background checks and tighter gun restrictions for people on the terrorism watch list. During a floor speech on Thursday, Cruz accused Democrats of grandstanding for partisan political purposes. “In the wake of the attack, many of us predicted what would unfold,” Cruz said. “And it was sadly the same political tale we have seen over and over again. Many of us predicted that Democrats would as a matter of rigid partisan ideology refuse to even say with the words ‘radical Islamic terrorism.'” “And that even worse, they would try to use it as an excuse to go after the Second Amendment rights of law abiding citizens,” he continued. “Yesterday, we saw a political show on the Senate floor. Democrat after Democrat standing for hours incensed not at ISIS, incensed not at radical Islamic terrorism, incensed that Americans have a right to keep and bear arms.” Cruz accused Murphy of orchestrating a “political distraction” for partisan “gamesmanship.
“And I think the American people find it ridiculous,” the Texas Republican sneered. “That in response to an ISIS terror attack the Democrats go on high dungeon that we’ve got to restrict the Second Amendment rights of law abiding citizens.”
“You don’t defeat terrorism by taking away our guns,” he added. “You defeat terrorism by using our guns.”
And Cruz knows something about filibusters because in 2013 he also seized control of the Senate and shut down the government in an attempt to defund President Barack Obama’s health care reform law.
