The Hit Factory was a recording studio in New York City famous for its clientele. It closed on April 1, 2005; the original building is now the headquarters of Music Theatre International. However, other Hit Factory studio locations remained open, such as in Miami, Florida.
The New York facility was purchased from Jerry Ragovoy by Edward Germano on March 6, 1975.
From 1989 to 1993, the company also operated The Hit Factory London. This facility later became Sony's Whitfield Street Studios
In 1999, The Hit Factory purchased Criteria Recording in Miami, Florida, revamping and reopening the studios under the new name The Hit Factory Criteria Miami.
After Germano's death in 2003, the business was taken over by his wife Janice Germano.
Hit Factory was closed on April 1, 2005. The last album to be recorded there was Octavarium by Dream Theater. The business' base of operations moved to the remaining Hit Factory Criteria Miami in March 2005. The New York Daily News reported:

Hit is a verb meaning to strike someone or something.
Hit or HIT may also refer to:
A factory (previously manufactory) or manufacturing plant is an industrial site, usually consisting of buildings and machinery, or more commonly a complex having several buildings, where workers manufacture goods or operate machines processing one product into another.
Factories arose with the introduction of machinery during the Industrial Revolution when the capital and space requirements became too great for cottage industry or workshops. Early factories that contained small amounts of machinery, such as one or two spinning mules, and fewer than a dozen workers have been called "glorified workshops".
Most modern factories have large warehouses or warehouse-like facilities that contain heavy equipment used for assembly line production. Large factories tend to be located with access to multiple modes of transportation, with some having rail, highway and water loading and unloading facilities.
Factories may either make discrete products or some type of material continuously produced such as chemicals, pulp and paper, or refined oil products. Factories manufacturing chemicals are often called plants and may have most of their equipment – tanks, pressure vessels, chemical reactors, pumps and piping – outdoors and operated from control rooms. Oil refineries have most of their equipment outdoors.
The Hit may refer to:

Featuring contributions by Waterman, Simon Cowell, Sinitta, Pete Burns, Sonia, Steps and many more. Suranne Jones narrates. Originally aired on ITV1, Monday 6th August 2012.

In this installment of #MystikalMonday we follow Mystikal back to Miami to continue working on the album and begin to get a more in depth look at not only how he records but also his crew and the types of arguments they get into on the road. The video begins with him first arriving in Miami and hitting a local mall to shop where he runs into fans, then straight to the studio. There's a quick snippet of legendary hit producer KLC The Drum Major from his studio in New Orleans where he drops knowledge on the original 808 machine he still uses to this day that made a lot of his hits. You don't know how to ease my pain
You don't know...
You don't know how to ease my pain
You don't know what the sound is darlin'?
It's the sound of my tears falling
Or is it the rain?
You don't know...
You don't know how to play the game
And you cheat, you lie
You make me want to cry
You make me want to cry
Cry...
You make me want to cry!
You don't know how to ease my pain, you don't know
You don't know how to ease my pain
Don't you hear any voices crying?
That's the sound of our love dying
Here comes the rain
You don't know how to play the game
And you cheat, you lie
You don't even know how to say goodbye
You make me want to cry
You don't know...
You don't even know how to say goodbye
You make me want to cry!
You don't even know how to say goodbye
You make me want to cry!
Cry...
Cry...
Cry...
