LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities chased a suspect through freeways and surface streets in parts of Los Angeles and Orange counties before ending in a San Diego County neighborhood early Monday morning.
The pursuit originated off De Soto Avenue in Woodland Hills around 4:12 a.m. when the driver was speeding and weaving erratically, authorities said.
The female suspect got onto the 101 Freeway at some point and led authorities out to Long Beach, exiting near Ocean Boulevard. For a while, the suspect drove erratically through surface streets, but traveled about 60 mph or less. At times, the driver made stops in the middle of the road before speeding off again.
"(She) would get up to 100 mph so it was reckless. But then she would slow down so it was bizarre," said Officer Edgar Figueroa with the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officers then followed the suspect onto the 710 and 405 Freeways, heading from Long Beach out to Orange County.
The suspect continued to travel at high speeds on various freeways, eventually leading CHP officers into Oceanside in San Diego County. The driver exited the freeway onto surface streets, barely missing crashing into other cars at busy intersections.
Eventually the suspect drove through a residential area in Fallbrook. Officers attempted four pit maneuvers, but the woman was able to evade each one before she was finally stopped in a cul-de-sac.
Authorities got out of their cars, guns drawn, and took her out of the car. She was handcuffed and taken into custody.
"She might be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and they are investigating that currently," Figueroa said.
The woman's identity was not released, but authorities did say she is from Bellflower.

On March 17, 2014 a magnitude-4.4 earthquake that was centered six miles north of Beverly Hills struck around 6:25 a.m. Monday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
No major damages or injuries were reported, but the shaking was felt as far as Riverside and Ventura counties.
It was also felt quite strongly in KTLA's studios in Hollywood, sending morning anchors Chris Schauble and Megan Henderson ducking for cover underneath the anchor desk during Monday's broadcast.
"I was very proud to see the KTLA anchors going under their desk during the earthquake, that was absolutely the right thing to do," said Dr. Lucy Jones, a seismologist with the U.S. Geological Survey. "People who are laughing at them for doing it, you don't know at the beginning how big an earthquake's going to be. You might feel a little silly doing it for the small ones, but when the big one happens, it means you stay alive after the lights come crashing down."
Jones called it a "great example" that everyone should follow in the event of an earthquake.

Viewers called Chan's dress 'completely inappropriate' and said it showed 'poor judgement', according to KTLA The Los Angeles meteorologist who was told to cover up a dress deemed 'inappropriate' by viewers has come out in defense of her TV network, saying she was 'simply playing along to a joke'.
Liberte Chan was delivering the 8 a.m. weather report on Saturday for KTLA News when morning anchor Chris Burrous presented a puzzled-looking Chan with a grey cardigan and said: 'We're getting a lot of emails.'
The news station came under fire for being 'deeply misogynistic and degrading as hell' for the move, however Chan has stressed that she 'was not ordered by KTLA to put on the sweater'.
'I was simply playing along with my co-anchor’s joke, and if you’ve ever watched the morning show, you know we poke fun at each other all the time,' Chan wrote on her personal blog this week.

LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Authorities chased a suspect through freeways and surface streets in parts of Los Angeles and Orange counties before ending in a San Diego County neighborhood early Monday morning.
The pursuit originated off De Soto Avenue in Woodland Hills around 4:12 a.m. when the driver was speeding and weaving erratically, authorities said.
The female suspect got onto the 101 Freeway at some point and led authorities out to Long Beach, exiting near Ocean Boulevard. For a while, the suspect drove erratically through surface streets, but traveled about 60 mph or less. At times, the driver made stops in the middle of the road before speeding off again.
"(She) would get up to 100 mph so it was reckless. But then she would slow down so it was bizarre," said Officer Edgar Figueroa with the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officers then followed the suspect onto the 710 and 405 Freeways, heading from Long Beach out to Orange County.
The suspect continued to travel at high speeds on various freeways, eventually leading CHP officers into Oceanside in San Diego County. The driver exited the freeway onto surface streets, barely missing crashing into other cars at busy intersections.
Eventually the suspect drove through a residential area in Fallbrook. Officers attempted four pit maneuvers, but the woman was able to evade each one before she was finally stopped in a cul-de-sac.
Authorities got out of their cars, guns drawn, and took her out of the car. She was handcuffed and taken into custody.
"She might be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and they are investigating that currently," Figueroa said.
The woman's identity was not released, but authorities did say she is from Bellflower.

On March 17, 2014 a magnitude-4.4 earthquake that was centered six miles north of Beverly Hills struck around 6:25 a.m. Monday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
No major damages or injuries were reported, but the shaking was felt as far as Riverside and Ventura counties.
It was also felt quite strongly in KTLA's studios in Hollywood, sending morning anchors Chris Schauble and Megan Henderson ducking for cover underneath the anchor desk during Monday's broadcast.
"I was very proud to see the KTLA anchors going under their desk during the earthquake, that was absolutely the right thing to do," said Dr. Lucy Jones, a seismologist with the U.S. Geological Survey. "People who are laughing at them for doing it, you don't know at the beginning how big an earthquake's going to be. You might feel a little silly doing it for the small ones, but when the big one happens, it means you stay alive after the lights come crashing down."
Jones called it a "great example" that everyone should follow in the event of an earthquake.
