A Southport man had been allegedly causing a disturbance inside the Nielsens Road petrol station after being recognised by the attendant for allegedly having stolen items previously.

Two officers who were at the command centre to help search for Jocelyn Lewis arrested the 20-year-old, who was charged two counts of stealing and one count each of public nuisance and obstructing police.

His arrest was accidentally captured by a number of news outlets reporting on the five-year-old being found safe and well.

A 19-year-old woman, known to the man, was parked in a vehicle at one of the petrol bowsers and was also arrested after police found cannabis and a knife in the car.
