Secure, simple, and even more useful.

Apple Pay

Paying in stores or within apps has never been easier or safer. Gone are the days of searching for your wallet. The wasted moments finding the right card. Now you can use your credit cards, store credit cards, and rewards cards with just a touch.

Apple Pay is simple to use and works with the cards you already have on the devices you use every day. And because your card details are never shared when you use Apple Pay — in fact, they aren’t stored on your device at all — using Apple Pay on your iPhone, Apple Watch, or iPad is the safer and more private way to pay.

An easier way to pay in stores.

iPhone

One touch to pay with Touch ID. Now paying in stores happens in one natural motion — there’s no need to open an app or even wake your display thanks to the innovative Near Field Communication antenna in iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 and iPhone SE. To pay, just hold your iPhone near the contactless reader with your finger on Touch ID. Or you can double-click the Home button when your iPhone is locked to access Wallet and quickly make your purchases. Your card number is never stored on your device, and when you pay your debit or credit card numbers are never sent to merchants. Apple Pay assigns a unique number for each purchase, so your payments stay private and secure.

Coming this fall

An easier way to pay on the web.

With the release of macOS Sierra and iOS 10, Apple Pay is coming to Safari on your Mac, iPhone, and iPad. So the purchases you make on many of your favorite websites will be faster and more secure than ever.

Wallet

Setup is simple with Wallet.

Wallet already stores your boarding passes, tickets, rewards cards, and more. With Apple Pay, it can store your credit cards, debit cards, and store credit cards, too. To get started, you can add the credit or debit card from your iTunes account to Wallet simply by entering the card security code.

Add more cards on iPhone within the Wallet app. Just tap the plus sign and follow the onscreen instructions. On iPad, start by opening Settings, tap “Wallet & Apple Pay,” then tap “Add Credit or Debit Card.” For Apple Watch, open the Watch app on your iPhone, tap “Wallet & Apple Pay,” then tap “Add Credit or Debit Card.”

The safer way to pay. With your fingerprint.

Every time you hand over your credit or debit card to pay, your card number and identity are visible, and swiping your card triggers an exchange of information. With Apple Pay, instead of using your actual credit and debit card numbers when you add your card, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in the Secure Element, a dedicated chip in iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. When you make a purchase, the Device Account Number, along with a transaction-specific dynamic security code, is used to process your payment. So your actual credit or debit card numbers are never shared by Apple with merchants or transmitted with payment. And unlike credit cards, on iPhone and iPad every payment requires Touch ID or a passcode, and Apple Watch must be unlocked — so only you can make payments from your device.

Protect your accounts.
Even if you lose your device.

If your iPhone or iPad is ever lost or stolen, you can use Find My iPhone to quickly put your device in Lost Mode to suspend Apple Pay, or you can wipe your device clean completely.

You can also stop the ability to make payments from credit and debit cards on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch with iCloud. Just log in to iCloud.com and click Settings.

Keep your purchases private.

Apple doesn’t save your transaction information. With Apple Pay, your payments are private. Apple Pay doesn’t store the details of your transactions so they can’t be tied back to you. Your most recent purchases are kept in Wallet for your convenience, but that’s as far as it goes.

Leave your cards in your pocket. Since you don’t have to show your credit or debit card, you never reveal your name, card number, or security code to the cashier when you pay in a store. This additional layer of privacy helps ensure that your information stays where it belongs. With you.

Accepted in great stores and apps. With more added every day.

Apple Pay lets you use iPhone or Apple Watch to pay in over a million stores accepting contactless payments. You can also make purchases within participating apps. And more stores and apps are accepting Apple Pay every day.
