We’re building the Asian literary culture of tomorrow through our curatorial platform, which includes our New York events series and our online editorial initiatives. In a time when China and India are on the rise, when immigration is a vital electoral issue, when the detention of Muslim Americans is a matter of common practice, we believe Asian American literature is vital to interpret our post-multicultural but not post-racial age. Our curatorial take is intellectual and alternative, pop cultural and highbrow, warm and artistically innovative, and vested in New York City communities.
Our curatorial platform is premised on the idea of a big-tent Asian American cultural pluralism. We’re interested in both the New York publishing industry and ethnic studies, the South Asian diasporic novel and the Asian American story of assimilation, high culture and pop culture, Lisa Lowe and Amar Chitra Katha, avant-garde poetry and spoken word, journalism and critical race theory, Midnight’s Children and Dictee. We are against both an exclusive literary culture that believes that race does not exist and Asian American narratives that lead to self-stereotyping and limit the menu of our identity. We are for inventing the future of Asian American literary culture. STORYLINE
The Former Pakistani Prime Minister and opposition leader Nawaz Sharif arrived at his home in Raiwind on Monday morning and offered prayers at his father's grave.
Sharif is expected to file his nomination papers for the coming general election later on Monday.
Speaking to reporters outside his home, Sharif said he had come back to Pakistan to "rebuild reconciliation in the country".
He tried to re-enter the country in September but was quickly deported back to Saudi Arabia, where he spent most of his eight years in exile after being ousted by Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf in a 1999 coup.
Late on Sunday Sharif visited the Data Darbar shrine in Lahore following his return home earlier in the day.
Surrounded by enthusiastic supporters, media and tight security, Sharif stopped to offer prayers at the holy shrine.
Almost eleven hours earlier Sharif returned home to a chaotic and jubilant welcome and immediately took the fight to the man who ousted him, saying emergency conditions imposed by Musharraf were "not conducive" to free and fair elections.
Sharif told reporters at the airport that his return was not the result of a deal with Musharraf.
Sharif's arrival was a fresh challenge for Musharraf, who has grown increasingly unpopular since he declared a state of emergency on November 3, locking up thousands of opponents, purging the Supreme Court and muzzling the media.
If Sharif and other opposition parties refuse to take part in parliamentary elections slated for January, it would undermine Musharraf's claim to be taking the country toward democracy.
Equally tricky for Musharraf would be an alliance between Sharif and another recently returned prime minister, Benazir Bhutto.
Sharif indicated that his party, the Pakistan Muslim League-N, would demand a restoration of constitutional rule before it took part in the vote, but that any decision on whether to boycott would be made in conjunction with other groups.

Nawaz's statement in court
In his statement before the court, the former premier said NAB officials had visited him only once in jail and he had answered all questions he could, adding that he had not shared information which he did not have knowledge of.
Nawaz said that he had requested to meet his lawyer and alleged that he was not permitted to do so.
"The allegations being made against me are fake. NAB is conducting an investigation on declared assets," he said.
He said that NAB officials had come and stated the grounds for the arrest.
"The allegations that have been made are baseless. Our name was in 32 industries, tell us where there was corruption."
Nawaz said that he had been a minister as well as the prime minister three times and said that if corruption was proven during these time periods he would withdraw not just from the case, but from politics.
"[Former dictator retired Gen Pervez] Musharraf created NAB for me. Musharraf had only one target which was Nawaz Sharif. NAB is only being used against PML-N and the opposition."
"I am already in jail, if there is such an enmity [with me] tell me where they want to take me."
"If they think that PML-N will panic and bow [to pressure], this will never happen."
As Nawaz presented his statement, supporters chanted slogans in the courtroom. The judge told him only to speak about the case.

Take It to the Limit (Hinder album)
Take It to the Limit is the second studio album of rock band Hinder. The album has been in the works since January 2008 and was released November 4, 2008 on Universal Motown Records. The album was recorded by Jay Van Poederooyen and produced by Brian Howes at Van Howes Studios in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The record was mixed by Chris Lord-Alge at Mix LA in Tarzana, California, USA. It has a much heavier glam metal and a lesser post-grunge influence than their last album, while retaining the elements of hard rock that the band had previously used. The album has been certified Gold by the RIAA.
Release
The first single, "Use Me", was released to radio on July 7, 2008, with a digital download release on July 15, 2008. "Heaven Sent" was performed at Hinder concerts dating back to 2007; however, the song was originally called "Heaven Lost You" when it was first performed.
Background
"We're anxious to get in and get started," frontman Austin Winkler tells Billboard.com. He says that the group has "probably three or four songs that we have prepared that we could play live at this point. Everything else is just ideas. We have a little rehearsal studio we set up (backstage) every day, and we're working on new material. It's all coming along real well."

Take It to the Limit (Willie Nelson album)
Take It to the Limit is an album by Willie Nelson with Waylon Jennings, released in 1983 on Columbia Records.
Background
Take It to the Limit was the third Jennings/Nelson duet album and the second to be produced by Chips Moman. Whereas their previous album together, 1982's WWII, had contained more Waylon solo tracks, this LP includes five tracks sung solely by Willie. The title actually reads Wille Nelson with Waylon Jennings, likely the result of the LP being released on Nelson's label CBS (the previous two duet albums had been released on RCA). The title song was written by Eagles' members Randy Meisner, Don Henley and Glenn Frey and performed by the Eagles on their 1975 album, One of These Nights, while "Homeward Bound" was originally by Simon and Garfunkel. Take It to the Limit was the next-to-last collaboration between Jennings and Nelson; of the four duets albums released by the singers, 1978's Waylon & Willie achieved the greatest success. Despite the fact that neither singer was in top artistic form and Jennings' most successful days were already over, the record managed to chart, peaking at #3, as did WWII. "Why Do I Have to Choose" also reached #3, while the title track reached #8 on the singles chart.

Sharif
Sharīf Asharif or Alsharif (Arabic: شريف šarīf) or Chérif (Darija: Chorfa) is a traditional Arab title in origin, the word is an adjective meaning "noble", "highborn". The feminine singular is sharifa(h) (Arabic: شريفة šarīfah). The masculine plural is Ashraf (Arabic: اشراف ʾašrāf).
Sunnis in the Arab world reserve the term sharif for descendants of Hasan ibn Ali, while sayyid is used for descendants of Husayn ibn Ali, Hasan's younger brother. Both Hasan and Husayn are grandchildren of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, through the marriage of his cousin Ali and his daughter Fatima. However ever since the post-Hashemite era began in 1925 after the fall of the Sharif of Mecca, the term sayyid has been used to denote descendants from both Hasan and Husayn. Shiites use the terms sayyid and habib to denote descendants from both Hasan and Husayn; see also ashraf.
From 1201 until 1925, when the Hejaz was conquered by Ibn Saud, this family (the descendants of Hasan ibn Ali) held the office of the Sharīf of Mecca, often also carrying the title and office of King of Hejaz. Descendants now rule the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the name being taken from the Banu Hashim, the sub-tribe of Banu Quraish, to which Muhammad belonged.

The Former Pakistani Prime Minister and opposition leader Nawaz Sharif arrived at his home in Raiwind on Monday morning and offered prayers at his father's grave.
Sharif is expected to file his nomination papers for the coming general election later on Monday.
Speaking to reporters outside his home, Sharif said he had come back to Pakistan to "rebuild reconciliation in the country".
He tried to re-enter the country in September but was quickly deported back to Saudi Arabia, where he spent most of his eight years in exile after being ousted by Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf in a 1999 coup.
Late on Sunday Sharif visited the Data Darbar shrine in Lahore following his return home earlier in the day.
Surrounded by enthusiastic supporters, media and tight security, Sharif stopped to offer prayers at the holy shrine.
Almost eleven hours earlier Sharif returned home to a chaotic and jubilant welcome and immediately took the fight to the man who ousted him, saying emergency conditions imposed by Musharraf were "not conducive" to free and fair elections.
Sharif told reporters at the airport that his return was not the result of a deal with Musharraf.
Sharif's arrival was a fresh challenge for Musharraf, who has grown increasingly unpopular since he declared a state of emergency on November 3, locking up thousands of opponents, purging the Supreme Court and muzzling the media.
If Sharif and other opposition parties refuse to take part in parliamentary elections slated for January, it would undermine Musharraf's claim to be taking the country toward democracy.
Equally tricky for Musharraf would be an alliance between Sharif and another recently returned prime minister, Benazir Bhutto.
Sharif indicated that his party, the Pakistan Muslim League-N, would demand a restoration of constitutional rule before it took part in the vote, but that any decision on whether to boycott would be made in conjunction with other groups.

In his statement before the court, the former premier said NAB officials had visited him only once in jail and he had answered all questions he could, adding that he had not shared information which he did not have knowledge of.
Nawaz said that he had requested to meet his lawyer and alleged that he was not permitted to do so.
"The allegations being made against me are fake. NAB is conducting an investigation on declared assets," he said.
He said that NAB officials had come and stated the grounds for the arrest.
"The allegations that have been made are baseless. Our name was in 32 industries, tell us where there was corruption."
Nawaz said that he had been a minister as well as the prime minister three times and said that if corruption was proven during these time periods he would withdraw not just from the case, but from politics.
"[Former dictator retired Gen Pervez] Musharraf created NAB for me. Musharraf had only one target which was Nawaz Sharif. NAB is only being used against PML-N and the opposition."
"I am already in jail, if there is such an enmity [with me] tell me where they want to take me."
"If they think that PML-N will panic and bow [to pressure], this will never happen."
As Nawaz presented his statement, supporters chanted slogans in the courtroom. The judge told him only to speak about the case.

STORYLINE
The Former Pakistani Prime Minister and opposition leader Nawaz Sharif arrived at his home in Raiwind on Monday morning and offered prayers at his father's grave.
Sharif is expected to file his nomination papers for the coming general election later on Monday.
Speaking to reporters outside his home, Sharif said he had come back to Pakistan to "rebuild reconciliation in the country".
He tried to re-enter the country in September but was quickly deported back to Saudi Arabia, where he spent most of his eight years in exile after being ousted by Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf in a 1999 coup.
Late on Sunday Sharif visited the Data Darbar shrine in Lahore following his return home earlier in the day.
Surrounded by enthusiastic supporters, media and tight security, Sharif stopped to offer prayers at the holy shrine.
Almost eleven hours earlier Sharif returned home to a chaotic and jubilant welcome and immediately took the fight to the man who ousted him, saying emergency conditions imposed by Musharraf were "not conducive" to free and fair elections.
Sharif told reporters at the airport that his return was not the result of a deal with Musharraf.
Sharif's arrival was a fresh challenge for Musharraf, who has grown increasingly unpopular since he declared a state of emergency on November 3, locking up thousands of opponents, purging the Supreme Court and muzzling the media.
If Sharif and other opposition parties refuse to take part in parliamentary elections slated for January, it would undermine Musharraf's claim to be taking the country toward democracy.
Equally tricky for Musharraf would be an alliance between Sharif and another recently returned prime minister, Benazir Bhutto.
Sharif indicated that his party, the Pakistan Muslim League-N, would demand a restoration of constitutional rule before it took part in the vote, but that any decision on whether to boycott would be made in conjunction with other groups.

Nawaz's statement in court
In his statement before the court, the former premier said NAB officials had visited him only once in jail and he had answered all questions he could, adding that he had not shared information which he did not have knowledge of.
Nawaz said that he had requested to meet his lawyer and alleged that he was not permitted to do so.
"The allegations being made against me are fake. NAB is conducting an investigation on declared assets," he said.
He said that NAB officials had come and stated the grounds for the arrest.
"The allegations that have been made are baseless. Our name was in 32 industries, tell us where there was corruption."
Nawaz said that he had been a minister as well as the prime minister three times and said that if corruption was proven during these time periods he would withdraw not just from the case, but from politics.
"[Former dictator retired Gen Pervez] Musharraf created NAB for me. Musharraf had only one target which was Nawaz Sharif. NAB is only being used against PML-N and the opposition."
"I am already in jail, if there is such an enmity [with me] tell me where they want to take me."
"If they think that PML-N will panic and bow [to pressure], this will never happen."
As Nawaz presented his statement, supporters chanted slogans in the courtroom. The judge told him only to speak about the case.
