Born in Paris in 1834, Edgar Degas, one of the most celebrated artists associated with French Impressionism, had an immense impact on modern and contemporary art. Exploring modern life in nineteenth-century Paris, he captured scenes ranging from work and industry to ballet and the theatre, racecourses and boudoirs.
The collection coincides with The National Gallery of Victoria's exhibition, 'Degas, A New Vision', which runs until 18th September. Exhibiting more than 200 works from worldwide collections, and offering a fresh reappraisal of this legendary artist's genius.
