The Unseen is an American 1980 horror film directed by Danny Steinmann.

Plot

After a hotel reservation mix up, two sisters Karen and Jennifer, and their friend Vicki Thompson, meet a friendly, but shady character named Ernest Keller who is the owner of a small town museum. Ernest convinces the three women into accepting an invitation for cheap room and board at his large farmhouse outside of town where his wife Virginia also lives. Once there, Jennifer and Karen leave for the holiday parade fair which Jennifer, a news reporter, is reporting on. At the festival, Jennifer is met by her soon to be ex-boyfriend, Tony, who gets her to stay behind to talk about their relationship.

Meanwhile, back at the house, Vicki prepares to take a nap in her room, but is attacked by an unseen figure. The unseen eventually begins to pull Vicki into a floor vent when she tries to escape. The grate of the vent slams down on her neck, killing her. At the parade, Karen leaves Jennifer and Tony to talk, and makes her way back to the house alone—where she too is then attacked and killed by the unseen, as it attempts to pull her by her scarf through a vent into the basement. Virginia, who had been in the barn slaughtering a chicken, soon after comes inside to find the bodies of both Vicki and Karen.

The Unseen (album)

The Unseen is the debut studio album by Quasimoto, an alter ego of American hip hop musician Madlib. It was released under Stones Throw Records on June 13, 2000. It was re-released in 2005 as a deluxe edition with a bonus CD containing the instrumental version of the album.

Madlib took mushrooms while creating the album for a month. It was co-mixed by Kut Masta Kurt and Peanut Butter Wolf. The cover was designed by Jeff Jank.

Critical reception

Nathan Rabin of The A.V. Club said, "The Unseen represents a dramatic leap forward for Madlib as a producer, as he integrates left-field, found-sound samples with dexterity and wit that brings to mind Prince Paul's consistently surprising production work." Meanwhile, Michaelangelo Matos of City Pages said, "The Unseen bursts with so much found material it's tempting to think Madlib changed his name to escape litigation, pilfering everything from Augustus Pablo to Melvin Van Peebles to enough jazz artists to fill a West Village loft".

Unseen (album)

Unseen is the seventh studio album by Swedish melodic death metal band The Haunted.

Vocalist Peter Dolving has described the album as "Epic. Danceable. Groovy. And very very arty farty metal. With this next record we are going to be taking a piss in the general direction of all the crappy 99.9 percent of generic contemporary Mr. Goatse jerks out there".

The album cover and tracklist were revealed on January 28, 2011. The cover was done by Frode Sylthe, a friend of the band, who also did the cover to their 2004 album Revolver. The band has said that they "really like his design aesthetic, and he seems to come up with something unique every single time".

Background

The writing process for the album began in August 2009, a year after the release of Versus, and forty songs were written for the album prior to April 21, 2010 according to vocalist Peter Dolving. The album title was revealed by Dolving on December 30, 2010, at which time the album was finished except for some minor details. It was revealed that the title track "Unseen" was co-written by David Johansson of Coldtears.

Ugly John

Ugly John is a mutant in the Marvel Universe. The character, created by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely, first appeared in New X-Men #114 (July 2001).

Within the context of the stories, Ugly John is an Australian mutant possessed of three faces. Ugly John is rescued from the giant mutant-hunting robots known as the Sentinels by Cyclops and Wolverine of the X-Men. En route back to Westchester, the X-Men's X-Jet is shot down by more Sentinels over Central America. Captured by Cassandra Nova, the genetic twin of Professor Charles Xavier, Ugly John is to be executed but the attempt fails. To ease his suffering, Cyclops shoots John with an optic blast.

U-Go Girl

U-Go Girl (Edie Sawyer), is a mutant in the Marvel Universe, a member of X-Statix. The character, created by Peter Milligan and Mike Allred, first appeared in X-Force #116 (May 2001).

Within the context of the stories, U-Go Girl can teleport herself and others (in a radius of five feet) across the globe, although this process is physically draining. Edie becomes pregnant by a young drifter when she is fifteen, and her parents decide to raise the girl as Edie's sister rather than daughter. Edie's power of teleportation fully manifests when she first looks at her daughter's face and feels a powerful urge to "get away." She teleports to Los Angeles. Edie struggles as a waitress and an actress until she becomes smitten with X-Force leader Zeitgeist and decides to try out for the team. She perfects her "aim" with her teleportation and comes up with the codename "Tele-Girl"; she becomes U-Go Girl after she accidentally flashes a crowd during her team tryout and someone screams, "You go, girl!"

Picture (song)

"Picture" is a song by American singer Kid Rock, recorded with Sheryl Crow. The song is taken from Kid Rock's album Cocky. It was released as a single by Kid Rock featuring Allison Moorer on November 12, 2002. It was the first song for the artists to be nominated for Vocal Event of The Year at the 2003 Country Music Association awards.

Song information

Kid Rock's label, Atlantic Records, was unable to obtain permission from Crow's label, A&M Records, to release the original version as a single. Therefore Atlantic Records decided to rework the song with country singer Allison Moorer (coincidentally signed to A&M's sister label Universal South Records) instead. Moorer re-recorded Crow’s vocals for the commercial release. The CD single featuring Moorer was released commercially in the US as a single on 12 November 2002.

Even though Atlantic Records was unable to obtain rights to release Crow's version as a single, mainstream, rock/alternative, and some country radio stations disregarded this and played the original version featuring Crow, while other country music radio stations played the radio edit featuring Allison Moorer instead. Because of this, Billboard credited the song on the charts as Kid Rock featuring Sheryl Crow or Allison Moorer.

Picture (string theory)

In superstring theory, each state may be represented in many ways, depending on how the ground state is defined. Each representation is called a picture, and is denoted by a number, such as 0 picture or −1 picture.

The difference between the ground states is according to the action of the superghosts oscillators on them, and the number of the picture (plus 1/2) reflects the highest superghost oscillator which does not annihilate the ground state.
