Split (Lush album)

Split is the second album by British shoegazing act Lush, released on 4AD on June 13, 1994 in the UK and a day later in the US. Two singles were released from the album: "Desire Lines" and "Hypocrite," both released on May 30, 1994. Split was reissued by 4AD on CD in July 2001.

Reception

Select gave the album a negative review of two out of five. The review described the album as "mid-paced stuff, fitting between melancholy and listlessness." "There's nothing wrong with a dose of heavyweight introspection per se. But a pretty deft touch is needed to translate it movingly to the recording studio."

Andy Kellman, writing for Allmusic, was far more positive, giving the album 4.5 stars out of five: "Split touches on most forms of emotional turbulence. A legitimizing stunner, the record prevented the band from being lost amidst the bunker of form-over-function dream pop bands. Split shattered every negative aspect of those failed acts with flying colors. A fantastic record within any realm."

Again (1949 song)

"Again" is a popular song with music by Lionel Newman and words by Dorcas Cochran. It first appeared in the movie Road House (1948), sung by Ida Lupino An instrumental rendition was used in the movie "Pickup on South Street" (1953). By 1949, versions by Vic Damone, Doris Day, Tommy Dorsey, Gordon Jenkins, Vera Lynn, Art Mooney, and Mel Tormé all made the Billboard charts.

The recording by Doris Day was recorded in February 1949 and released by Columbia Records as catalog number 38467. The flip side was "Everywhere You Go". It first reached the Billboard magazine Best Seller chart on May 13, 1949 and lasted 19 weeks on the chart, peaking at #2.

The recording by Vic Damone was recorded in February 1949 and released by Mercury Records as catalog number 5261. The flip side was "I Love You So Much It Hurts". It first reached the Billboard magazine Best Seller chart on April 8, 1949 and lasted 15 weeks on the chart, peaking at #11. Other sources give the highest chart position as #6.

Again (film)

Again (アゲイン　28年目の甲子園, Again 28 Nenme no Koshien) is a 2015 Japanese drama film directed by Sumio Ōmori (ja), based on the baseball novel by Kiyoshi Shigematsu. It was released on January 17, 2015. This film was shot at Koshien Stadium.

17 Again (film)

17 Again is a 2009 American comedy film directed by Burr Steers. The film follows 37-year-old Mike (Matthew Perry) who becomes a 17-year-old high school student (Zac Efron) after a chance accident. The film also features Leslie Mann, Thomas Lennon and Michelle Trachtenberg in supporting roles. The film was released in the United States on April 17, 2009.

Plot

In 1989, seventeen-year-old Mike O'Donnell (Zac Efron) learns during the start of his high school championship basketball game that his girlfriend Scarlet Porter (Allison Miller) is pregnant. Moments after the game begins, he leaves the game and goes after Scarlet, abandoning his hopes of going to college and becoming a professional basketball player.

In 2009, Mike (Matthew Perry), now thirty-seven years old, finds his life stalled. Scarlet (Leslie Mann), now his wife and mother of their two children, has separated from him due to his blaming her for his regrets about abandoning his future, forcing him to move in with his geeky, yet extremely wealthy, best friend since high school, Ned Gold (Thomas Lennon). At his job, we see another reason for his frustration: due to his lack of higher education and since he is significantly older than most of his co-workers, he is passed over for a promotion he deserves in favor of a much younger worker. He quits his job and his high school-age children, Maggie (Michelle Trachtenberg) and Alex (Sterling Knight) want nothing to do with him. Later, while visiting his high school to reminisce, an encounter with a mysterious janitor (Brian Doyle-Murray) transforms Mike back into his seventeen-year-old self.

Diana (band)

DIANA is a Canadian synthpop band, whose debut album Perpetual Surrender was a longlisted nominee for the 2014 Polaris Music Prize.

Formed by Toronto musicians Joseph Shabason and Kieran Adams after another project they had planned to work on fell through, the duo later added vocalist Carmen Elle. Originally intended as a recording project which would not tour, popular interest in their early demos on SoundCloud led them to begin touring, with Paul Mathew also joining the band's live performance lineup.

Perpetual Surrender was released in August 2013 on Paper Bag Records and Jagjaguwar. They have toured extensively across Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom to support the album, both at music festivals and as an opening act for Austra.

Diana (TV series)

Diana is a British television drama series first broadcast by the BBC in 1984. It was adapted by Andrew Davies from two R. F. Delderfield novels.

It follows the intersecting but very different lives of Jan, a poor but studious young country lad and Diana, the equally single minded daughter of a rich landowner, from the 1920s through to post-war Britain. The early story revolves around the class mismatch between the pair; the besotted Jan attempts to elevate his status through hard work and the more aloof Diana attempts to keep her affections in check and pursue her own goals.

Unusually, despite a generally warm reception and a host of stars – including Jenny Seagrove, Kevin McNally and a young Patsy Kensit – it has never been repeated on the BBC and was only made available for purchase commercially in 2015.

DIANA (intermediate language)

DIANA, the Descriptive Intermediate Attributed Notation for Ada, is an intermediate language used to represent the semantics of an Ada program. It was originally designed as an interface between the front end (syntactic analysis) and middle (semantic analysis) of the compiler on the one hand and the back end (code generation and optimization) on the other. It is also used as an internal representation by other language tools.

DIANA is also used by PL/SQL, which is based on Ada.

DIANA is an abstract data type; its concrete implementations are defined using the IDL specification language.

DIANA descends from TCOL and AIDA, earlier representations of Ada programs.

The Ada-0 subset of Ada at Karlsruhe (1980) was first using AIDA, but later AIDA got replaced by DIANA. The full Karlsruhe Ada compilation system used DIANA as well and the IDL External Representation for marshalling between the middle-end and the code generating back-end.
