You get up on your little twenty-one inch screen and howl about America and democracy. There is no America. There is no democracy. There is only IBM and ITT and AT&T;, and DuPont, Dow, Union Carbide and Exxon. Those are the nations of the world today.
What do you think the Russians talk about in their Councils of State? Karl Marx? They get out their linear programming charts, statistical decision theories, mini-max solutions, and compute the price-cost probabilities of their transactions and investments, just like we do.
We no longer live in a world of nations and ideologies, Mr Beale. The world is a college of corporations, inexorably determined by the immutable bye-laws of of business. The world is a business, Mr Beale. It has been since man crawled out of the slime.
And our children will live, Mr Beale, to see that ... perfect ... world in which there is no war nor famine, oppression or brutality. One vast and ecumenical holding company for whom all men will work to serve a common profit. In which all men will hold a share of stock.

The dollar buys a nickel's worth, banks are going bust, shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it. We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, and we sit watching our TV's while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be. We know things are bad - worse than bad. They're crazy. It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out anymore. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we are living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, 'Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone.' Well, I'm not gonna leave you alone. I want you to get mad! I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot - I don't want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first you've got to get mad. You've got to say, 'I'm a HUMAN BEING, God damn it! My life has VALUE!' So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. Director David Fincher (Fight Club, Seven) teams with screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing) to explore the meaning of success in the early 21st century from the perspectives of the technological innovators who revolutionized the way we all communicate. The year was 2003. As prohibitively expensive technology became affordable to the masses and the Internet made it easy to stay in touch with people who were halfway across the world, Harvard undergrad and computer programming wizard Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) launched a website with the potential to alter the very fabric of our society. At the time, Zuckerberg was just six years away from making his first million. But his hearty payday would come at a high price, because despite all of Zuckerberg's wealth and success, his personal life began to suffer as he became mired in legal disputes, and discovered that many of the 500 million people he had friended during his rise to the top were eager to see him fall. Chief among that growing list of detractors was Zuckerberg's former college friend Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield), whose generous financial contributions to Facebook served as the seed that helped the company to sprout. And some might argue that Zuckerberg's bold venture wouldn't have evolved into the cultural juggernaut that it ultimately became had Napster founder Sean Parker (Justin Timberlake) not spread the word about Facebook to the venture capitalists from Silicon Valley. Meanwhile, the Winklevoss twins (Armie Hammer and Josh Pence) engage Zuckerberg in a fierce courtroom battle for ownership of Facebook that left many suspecting the young entrepreneur might have let his greed eclipse his better judgment. Former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson accused the network's chairman and CEO, Roger Ailes, of sexual harassment in a lawsuit filed Wednesday.
In the suit, Carlson claims Ailes "sabotaged her career because she refused his sexual advances." She also complained about "severe and pervasive sexual harassment" during her time at the news network.
She went on to accuse Ailes of "ostracizing, marginalizing and shunning" her before firing her last month. Ailes allegedly made it clear that Carlson's treatment would improve "if she had a sexual relationship with him."
The lawsuit also states that "there were no legitimate business reasons for terminating Ms. Carlson," citing her show's steadily increasing viewership into her final month.
Coincidentally, Carlson penned an essay in The Huffington Post last year where she wrote that sexual harassment wasn't just a women's issue.
Beginning her work with Fox in 2005, Carlson was a co-host on the morning show "Fox & Friends" and eventually hosted her own program, "The Real Story With Gretchen Carlson." She's an award-winning journalist who has conducted interviews with world leaders such as President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and George W. Bush.
The former Miss America, crowned in 1989, published an autobiography titled "Getting Real" last year where she encourages women to speak their minds.
Following her own advice, Carlson took to Facebook on Wednesday to announce she no longer works for Fox and asked her fans for support.
Carlson said the lawsuit was a "difficult step to take." In a statement, she wrote, "I had to stand up for myself and speak out for all women and the next generation of women in the workplace."
Ailes has not yet spoken about the claims.

Trent Reznor
Michael Trent Reznor (born May 17, 1965), known professionally as Trent Reznor, is an American singer-songwriter, record producer, and film score composer. As a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, he has led the industrial rock project Nine Inch Nails since 1988. His first release as Nine Inch Nails, the 1989 album Pretty Hate Machine, was a commercial and critical success. He has since released eight studio albums. He left Interscope Records in 2007 and was an independent recording artist until signing with Columbia Records in 2012.
Reznor was associated with the bands Option 30, The Urge, The Innocent, and Exotic Birds in the mid-1980s. Outside of Nine Inch Nails, he has contributed to the albums of artists such as Marilyn Manson and Saul Williams. He and his wife, Mariqueen Maandig, are members of the post-industrial group How to Destroy Angels, alongside Reznor's fellow composer Atticus Ross and long-time Nine Inch Nails graphic designer Rob Sheridan.
Reznor and Ross scored the David Fincher films The Social Network (2010), The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011), and Gone Girl (2014), winning the Academy Award for Best Original Score for The Social Network and the Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. In 1997, Reznor appeared in Time's list of the year's most influential people, while Spin magazine has described him as "the most vital artist in music".

Former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson accused the network's chairman and CEO, Roger Ailes, of sexual harassment in a lawsuit filed Wednesday. In the suit, Carlson claims Ailes "sabotaged her career because she refused his sexual advances." She also complained about "severe and pervasive sexual harassment" during her time at the news network. She went on to accuse Ailes of "ostracizing, marginalizing and shunning" her before firing her last month. Ailes allegedly made it clear that Carlson's treatment would improve "if she had a sexual relationship with him." At the time, Zuckerberg was just six years away from making his first million. But his hearty payday would come at a high price, because despite all of Zuckerberg's wealth and success, his personal life began to suffer as he became mired in legal disputes, and discovered that many of the 500 million people he had friended during his rise to the top were eager to see him fall. Chief among that growing list of detractors was Zuckerberg's former college friend Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield), whose generous financial contributions to Facebook served as the seed that helped the company to sprout. And some might argue that Zuckerberg's bold venture wouldn't have evolved into the cultural juggernaut that it ultimately became had Napster founder Sean Parker (Justin Timberlake) not spread the word about Facebook to the venture capitalists from Silicon Valley. Meanwhile, the Winklevoss twins (Armie Hammer and Josh Pence) engage Zuckerberg in a fierce courtroom battle for ownership of Facebook that left many suspecting the young entrepreneur might have let his greed eclipse his better judgment. The Social Network was based on the book The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich.

At the time, Zuckerberg was just six years away from making his first million. But his hearty payday would come at a high price, because despite all of Zuckerberg's wealth and success, his personal life began to suffer as he became mired in legal disputes, and discovered that many of the 500 million people he had friended during his rise to the top were eager to see him fall. Chief among that growing list of detractors was Zuckerberg's former college friend Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield), whose generous financial contributions to Facebook served as the seed that helped the company to sprout. And some might argue that Zuckerberg's bold venture wouldn't have evolved into the cultural juggernaut that it ultimately became had Napster founder Sean Parker (Justin Timberlake) not spread the word about Facebook to the venture capitalists from Silicon Valley. Meanwhile, the Winklevoss twins (Armie Hammer and Josh Pence) engage Zuckerberg in a fierce courtroom battle for ownership of Facebook that left many suspecting the young entrepreneur might have let his greed eclipse his better judgment. The Social Network was based on the book The Accidental Billionaires by Ben Mezrich.

Former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson accused the network's chairman and CEO, Roger Ailes, of sexual harassment in a lawsuit filed Wednesday.
In the suit, Carlson claims Ailes "sabotaged her career because she refused his sexual advances." She also complained about "severe and pervasive sexual harassment" during her time at the news network.
She went on to accuse Ailes of "ostracizing, marginalizing and shunning" her before firing her last month. Ailes allegedly made it clear that Carlson's treatment would improve "if she had a sexual relationship with him."
The lawsuit also states that "there were no legitimate business reasons for terminating Ms. Carlson," citing her show's steadily increasing viewership into her final month.
Coincidentally, Carlson penned an essay in The Huffington Post last year where she wrote that sexual harassment wasn't just a women's issue.
Beginning her work with Fox in 2005, Carlson was a co-host on the morning show "Fox & Friends" and eventually hosted her own program, "The Real Story With Gretchen Carlson." She's an award-winning journalist who has conducted interviews with world leaders such as President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and George W. Bush.
The former Miss America, crowned in 1989, published an autobiography titled "Getting Real" last year where she encourages women to speak their minds.
Following her own advice, Carlson took to Facebook on Wednesday to announce she no longer works for Fox and asked her fans for support.
Carlson said the lawsuit was a "difficult step to take." In a statement, she wrote, "I had to stand up for myself and speak out for all women and the next generation of women in the workplace."
Ailes has not yet spoken about the claims.
