A Visit to Lotus Temple is always marvellous and fascinating experience.
Located in Kalkaji in the south of Delhi, it is lotus shaped and has rightly been given the name. It is made of marble, cement, dolomite and sand. It is open to all faiths and is an ideal place for meditation and obtaining peace and tranquility.
The Lotus Temple is a Bahá'í House of Worship, situated in South Delhi and shaped like a lotus. It was built by the Bahá'í community.
The building was commissioned in the year 1980 to an Iranian architect named Fariburz Sabha and was completed in the year 1986. It was opened for the general public in the same year.

Lotus Temple
The Lotus Temple, located in New Delhi, India, is a Bahá'í House of Worship completed in 1986. Notable for its flowerlike shape, it serves as the Mother Temple of the Indian subcontinent and has become a prominent attraction in the city. The Lotus Temple has won numerous architectural awards and been featured in hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles.
Worship
Like all other Bahá'í Houses of Worship, the Lotus Temple is open to all, regardless of religion, or any other distinction, as emphasized in Bahá'í texts. The Bahá'í laws emphasize that the spirit of the House of Worship be that it is a gathering place where people of all religions may worship God without denominational restrictions. The Bahá'í laws also stipulate that not only the holy scriptures of the Bahá'í Faith but also those of other religions can be read and/or chanted inside the House of Worship regardless of language; while readings and prayers can be set to music by choirs, no musical instruments can be played inside. Furthermore, no sermons can be delivered, and there can be no ritualistic ceremonies practised.

The design of the Bahai House of Worship ( Lotus Temple) in New Delhi is inspired by the lotus, the exquisitely beautiful flower and symbol of purity that is inseparably associated with worship and religion of India. The House of the Worship is surrounded by nine large pools of water that not only in enhance the beauty of the Lotus Temple but also play a significant role in the natural cooling system of the prayer hall. An adjunct of the main building is its ancillary building which houses offices, conference hall,library and audio-visual room.
The common characteristic of the Baha'i' Houses of Worship is that they are all nine- sided. Nine is the highest digit and symbolizes comprehensiveness , oneness and unity.

-From Floor to top of building -- 34.27 meters

- The House of Worship was built by voluntary contribution received from Indian Baha'i' Community as well as Bahais around the world.

Flying over the Bahai temple or the Lotus temple, a magnificent tourist attraction for its flower-like shape in Delhi. Delhi metro construction is in progress in Nehru Place and Kalkaji area. Delhi metro already connects Nehru Place and Kalkaji through Violet Line.
The Lotus Temple, located in New Delhi, India, is a Bahá'í House of Worship completed in 1986. Notable for its flowerlike shape, it serves as the Mother Temple of the Indian subcontinent and has become a prominent attraction in the city. The Lotus Temple has won numerous architectural awards and been featured in hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles. Like all Bahá'í Houses of Worship, the Lotus Temple is open to all, regardless of religion or any other qualification. The building is composed of 27 free-standing marble-clad "petals" arranged in clusters of three to form nine sides, with nine doors opening onto a central hall with height of slightly over 40 metres and a capacity of 2,500 people.
