Harlem World is the critically acclaimed multi-platinum debut album by American hip hop recording artist Mase, released October 28, 1997. The album was nominated at the 41st Grammy Awards for Best Rap Album.
Seen as Puff Daddy's new protégé since the passing of The Notorious B.I.G., Mase rose to fame after being a member of Children of the Corn with fellow Harlem rappers Big L and Cam'ron. After the death of Bloodshed and the subsequent disbanding of the group, Mase was signed to Bad Boy, catching the public eye when appearing on the track "Mo Money, Mo Problems" from Biggie's 1997 album Life After Death. Puff Daddy began to promote Mase as the new premier act of Bad Boy and within a year had released "Harlem World", a successful album spawning hits such as "Feel So Good" (U.S. #5), "What You Want" (U.S. #6), and "Lookin' at Me" (U.S. #8).
Mase released his first solo LP, Harlem World, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Pop and R&B LP charts selling over 270,000 copies in the U.S. its first week of release; it has since gone on to sell 3.3 million copies in the United States. Joining Mase on his solo LP was a long list of rap elite including Jay-Z, Lil' Kim, Busta Rhymes, The Lox, Total, and his close friend DMX. The album featured production by Combs, Steven "Stevie J" Jordan, Jermaine Dupri, Deric "D-Dot" Angelettie, and (then unknowns) The Neptunes. Mase told MTV about his first solo effort: "Well, basically what I'm trying to establish is a strong identity and foundation for Mase so a lot of people could know that Mase is his own person and Mase can do other things besides rap and music and things in that nature."

Harlem is a large neighborhood in the northern section of the New York City borough of Manhattan. Since the 1920s, Harlem has been known as a major African-American residential, cultural and business center. Originally a Dutch village, formally organized in 1658, it is named after the city of Haarlem in the Netherlands. Harlem's history has been defined by a series of economic boom-and-bust cycles, with significant population shifts accompanying each cycle.
African-American residents began to arrive en masse in 1905, with numbers fed by the Great Migration. In the 1920s and 1930s, Central and West Harlem were the focus of the "Harlem Renaissance", an outpouring of artistic work without precedent in the American black community. However, with job losses in the time of the Great Depression and the deindustrialization of New York City after World War II, rates of crime and poverty increased significantly. Harlem's black population peaked in the 1950s. In 2008, the United States Census found that for the first time since the 1930s, less than half of residents were black, and black residents only counted for 40% of the population.
World is a common name for the whole of human civilization, specifically human experience, history, or the human condition in general, worldwide, i.e. anywhere on Earth or pertaining to anywhere on Earth.
In a philosophical context it may refer to:
In a theological context, world usually refers to the material or the profane sphere, as opposed to the celestial, spiritual, transcendent or sacred. The "end of the world" refers to scenarios of the final end of human history, often in religious contexts.
World history is commonly understood as spanning the major geopolitical developments of about five millennia, from the first civilizations to the present.
World population is the sum of all human populations at any time; similarly, world economy is the sum of the economies of all societies (all countries), especially in the context of globalization. Terms like world championship, gross world product, world flags etc. also imply the sum or combination of all current-day sovereign states.

"I Really Like It" was the lead single from rap group Harlem World's debut album, The Movement. It featured the groups mentor Mase and R&B singer, Kelly Price and was produced by Mase, Supa Sam and Just Blaze. the track contains a sample of Popcorn Love, as well as performed by New Edition and contains an interpolation of I Like It performed by DeBarge. "I Really Like It" managed to make it to 3 different Billboard charts having peaked at 61 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks, 31 on the Hot Rap Singles and 18 on the Rhythmic Top 40.

With his eponymous store on 125th Street in Harlem, Dapper Dan pioneered streetwear in the early 1980s by co-opting luxury branding from the likes of Louis Vuitton and MCM and designing original menswear with high-end detail—including exquisite leathers, furs, and skins. First drawing neighborhood hustlers and friends, Dan eventually outfitted rappers and other celebs of the time, such as Eric B & Rakim and Mike Tyson, to name a few. Now, nearly thirty years after entering the clothing game, Dan is plotting his return to the public eye. The reclusive designer recently sat down with Life+Times to discuss his career—alongside childhood friend Pee Wee Kirkland—retracing Harlem history in the process. If you are a fan and would like to catch up on the latest MA$E news, head on over to http://www.maseisthegoat.com Harlem World was Rapper Mase's First studio album released under the watchful eye of Puff Daddy and Bad Boy Records. His first being the commercially popular HARLEM WORLD. This album dropped in 1997 after Diddy had him appear on a few Bad Boy anthems in the year prior. Consumers were anxiously waiting for the smooth-flowing clever young cat to drop an album of his own. He did deliver the goods, and Harlem World is considered to be a Classic rap album by all. Fans or rapper Mase or not. My favourite song on the album would have to be ‘Do you wanna get $?’
This is an EP released in 1998. It contains 5 tracks. The last 2 being instrumentals. The songs were from Mase's 1997 "Harlem World" Please enjoy!
The Streets of Harlem...How Black Men in The Streets Adapt to Structural Violence, is a video street ethnography that documents how Harlem-based street identified Black men, across generations, frame notions of resilience in relation to structural inequality. Dr. Yasser Arafat Payne, Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at the University of Delaware has organized this project with music producer/video director Scott 'Kasper' Gaddy. Johan Galtung (1969) created structural violence theory and he specifically argued that structural systems and institutions through policy and laws, worked to prevent individuals, groups and local communities from “meeting their basic needs”. In other words, according to Galtung (1969), many other scholars and many community l...

Yo, now hum all you want to and all the simple hits
Move, Cuda love, straight out the tenements
Drop the joint with Puff Dad just finished it
Would have did more without censorship?
Talk to plenty chicks, on to many flicks
Love when a girl say they wanna skinny-dip
Call room service, tell 'em to send it quick
Want gritz, don't forget, put cheetoes in my
Chill with the fellas that I came in it with
Buy 'em all minks before December hit
Player like Mase revoke your membership
Cuz this a balla club that come with benefits
They'll reminisce when lady used to dis
Now everywhere we go all the hoes generous
They must think Mase is on the rush limited
Dusty denim tip, is still the main chick
1 - Ooh Mase I love you so
Never, ever, ever gonna let you go
I can't keep my eyes off you
Ooh Mase I love you so
Never, ever, ever gonna let you go
I hope you feel the same way too
Uh, uh, now ladies say he has this
Tendency to B.S.'s for girls who put key scratches
On brand new coups or E-classes
Jet for ya'll, before I do a federal charge
Name incorporated, no problem gettin' cars
Whole entourage in the Mount Airy Lodge
When you very large, never spend cheddar, you charge
Get my daily menage , Halle Berre massage
Different color Benz in every garage
Who would've thought? '95, earth spinned twice
Mase be Billboard's hot merchandise
Player like me must deserve this life
Every girl a trick kid, if you work her right
My click bubble, why you wish me trouble, so aight
Bad Boy gonna have to shit you double
Repeat 1
Yo, if you never had a man than why try me?
Niggas outta town wanna learn my G
Understand me, the baller I be
Need about three pages and caller ID
When I come around, all the waiters get jippo
Wanna serve Poppy, him a big tipper
Leave the restroom about six strippers
Don't watch me, flip up your zipper
I'mma good fellow, mellow
Though I puff trees my teeth never yellow
Hello, in the club jingle like I'm Jello
With the kids, big as Tickle Me Elmo
Next summer, stretch Hummer for the whole state
Anything, buy no cake hold no weight
I you ain't really seen Mase in the gold 8
I really think it's time that you relocate
