The Simpsons will feature both Pokémon Go and Adventure Time in the new season

Season 28 also sees the show hit 600 episodes (and counting).

South Park won't be covering the Pokémon Go craze but that other long-running animated TV comedy you might have heard of will.

The creators of The Simpsons revealed at Comic-Con that they have an entire episode based on the smartphone game taking the world by storm.

There is already an online clip of Homer playing the game and ignoring his kids, but the episode is set to follow a different plot, with producer Al Jean describing the basic storyline as "Homer and Lisa are playing all the time and they're wasting all the money".

As for whether or not Pokémon Go will still be a global phenomenon by the time the episode airs, Jean isn't too worried about it, later telling EW that he's "fully confident it's still going to be a big thing".

The opening credits of The Simpsons and Adventure Time are going to crossover, with a Simpsonised version of the Adventure Time song being performed by Pendleton Ward, who is the creator of the latter show.

There's going to be another 'Treehouse of Horror' episode. It will be the 27th (!) one and will double as the show's 600th (!!) episode.
