Please, Please

"Please, Please" is a song by McFly from their third album Motion in the Ocean, released as a double A-side single with their cover version of the Queen song "Don't Stop Me Now". It was premiered on BBC Radio 1 on 7 June 2006.

The single entered the UK Singles Chart on 23 July 2006 at number one, knocking "Smile" by Lily Allen off the top spot. It was the 1038th UK number one single. It reached number 15 in Ireland.

Song information

"Please, Please" was written by all of McFly, Julian Emery and Jason Perry. The song is about a redhead, assumed to be the actress Lindsay Lohan because the lyrics mention a girl named Lindsay with red hair and green eyes, just like Lohan, and the nurse in the video is named Lindsay Allbright while, in the film Just My Luck, Lindsay's on-screen character is called Ashley Allbright. Also, a recurring line in the song is Please, please, Lindsay, please. (While filming the movie Just My Luck, tabloids published articles reporting that McFly drummer Harry Judd had a romantic relationship with her.) Danny Jones wasn't so sure though; "He had a dream about it but thought it actually happened!" Tom revealed on the DVD single that it was the most fun video shoot other than "5 Colours in Her Hair".

Please Please Me

Please Please Me is the debut studio album by the English rock band the Beatles. Parlophone rush-released the album on 22 March 1963 in the United Kingdom to capitalise on the success of the singles "Please Please Me" (No. 1 on most lists but only No. 2 on Record Retailer) and "Love Me Do" (No. 17).

Of the album's 14 songs, eight were written by Lennon–McCartney (originally credited "McCartney–Lennon"), early evidence of what Rolling Stone later called "[their invention of] the idea of the self-contained rock band, writing their own hits and playing their own instruments." In 2012, Please Please Me was voted 39th on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time."

The norm for British 12" vinyl pop albums in 1963 was to have seven songs on each side (American albums usually had five or six songs per side) leaving producer George Martin needing only ten more tracks if he were to include the four sides of the group's first two singles: “I asked them what they had which we could record quickly, and the answer was their stage act” Martin said. He had at first contemplated recording the album live at the Cavern Club in front of the group's home audience and visited the Liverpool club on 9 December 1962 to consider the technicalities (or, as more recent scholarship indicates, on 12 December 1962.) But when time constraints intervened, he decided to book them at EMI Studios in Abbey Road and record them live there instead. Martin said, "It was a straightforward performance of their stage repertoire—a broadcast, more or less."

Please (You Got That ...)

"Please (You Got That ...)" is the second single from the 1993 album Full Moon, Dirty Hearts, by Australian rock band INXS. The song was written by Andrew Farriss and Michael Hutchence and featured guest vocals from legendary American R&B Artist Ray Charles.

When Ray Charles arrived to sing his part, Hutchence was there in the studio to teach him how to produce the Hutchencesque vocal style. "Mr. Charles," Michael respectfully addressed him, "... it (the melody) goes like this ... (Michael sings the line and Ray Charles attempts to imitate it). After many attempts Charles says, "Sir (Michael), I know I will eventually get it right" ... and of course he did.

B-sides

The B-sides on the first of two UK CD Single releases include a remixes of Please (You Got That ...), an extended mix of Freedom Deep from the "Full Moon, Dirty Hearts" album and a live performance of "Communication" from "Welcome to Wherever You Are", which was recorded in Santa Monica, California on the "Get Out of The House" tour.

Lynn (civil parish)

Lynn (Irish: Lainn) is a civil parish in County Westmeath, Ireland. It is located about 4.31 kilometres (3 mi) south–south–east of Mullingar.

Lynn is one of 10 civil parishes in the barony of Fartullagh in the Province of Leinster. The civil parish covers 4,905.3 acres (19.851 km²).

Lynn civil parish comprises 12 townlands: Ardillon, Burnellstown, Catherinestown, Clonmoyle, Lynn, Gainestown, Glendevine, Gorteen, Lynn, Tornanstown. Tullanisky and Vilanstown.

The neighbouring civil parishes are: Mullingar to the north, Killucan (barony of Farbill), to the east and Enniscoffey and Moylisker to the south.

Lynn is a city in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 90,329 at the 2010 census. An old industrial center, Lynn is home to Lynn Beach and Lynn Heritage State Park and is about 10 miles (16 km) north of downtown Boston. It is the largest city in Essex County.

History

17th century

The area known as Lynn was first settled in 1629 by Edmund Ingalls (d. 1648), followed by John Tarbox of Lancashire in 1631, whose descendants still reside in New England. The city was incorporated in 1631 as Saugus, the Nipmuck name for the area. The name Lynn was given to the area after King's Lynn, Norfolk, England, in honor of Samuel Whiting. A noteworthy colonist, Thomas Halsey left Lynn to settle the eastern end of Long Island and founded the town of Southampton New York. The Halsey House is the oldest frame house in the state of New York (1648), and along with the homestead it is open to the public and managed by the Southampton Colonial Society.

After Lynn's resettlement, many of its areas gradually separated into independent towns. Reading was created in 1644, Lynnfield in 1782, Saugus in 1815, Swampscott in 1852, and Nahant in 1853. Lynn was incorporated as a city in 1850.
