The arts
The arts represent an outlet of expression, that is usually influenced by culture and which in turn helps to change culture. As such, the arts are a physical manifestation of the internal creative impulse. Major constituents of the arts include literature – including poetry, novels and short stories, and epics; performing arts – among them music, dance, and theatre; culinary arts such as baking, chocolatiering, and winemaking; media arts like photography and cinematography, and visual arts – including drawing, painting, ceramics, and sculpting. Some art forms combine a visual element with performance (e.g. film) and the written word (e.g. comics).
From prehistoric cave paintings to modern day films, art serves as a vessel for storytelling and conveying mankind's relationship with its environment.
Definitions
In its most basic abstract definition, art is a documented expression of a sentient being through or on an accessible medium so that anyone can view, hear or experience it. The act itself of producing an expression can also be referred to as a certain art, or as art in general.

Catherine Lara (born Catherine Bodet; 29 May 1945) is a French violinist, composer and singer. She played and composed for famous singers before starting to sing herself. Her first album, Ad libitum was released in 1972. Since her 1979 album Coup d'feel, her songs are more influenced by rock music. The 1983 album La Rockeuse de diamant provided a major success with the single "La Rockeuse de diamant", and a daring song with "Autonome", in which she says : "[I'm] free to love a woman or a man". In 1986, she made a breakthrough with the single "Nuit magique" written by Luc Plamondon, her biggest hit that brought her fame and made her win a Victoires de la Musique (French Grammy Awards) for best female singer of the year. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honour, for his contribution towards Indian Art. He was made Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Government in 2005.
Indian classical music is the art music of the Indian subcontinent. The origins of Indian classical music can be found in the Vedas, which are the oldest scriptures in the Hindu tradition. The Samaveda was derived from the Rig Veda so that its hymns could be sung as Samagana. Indian classical music is both elaborate and expressive.

He won the Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance four years in a row from 1999 to 2002, breaking the record for most wins in that category as well as setting the record for most consecutive wins in one category by a male. He has been nominated for and won other awards, including American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, Radio Music Awards, BRIT Awards and Blockbuster Entertainment Awards. On December 1, 2011, Kravitz was made an Officer of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. He plays the role of Cinna in the Hunger Games film series.

He won the Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance four years in a row from 1999 to 2002, breaking the record for most wins in that category as well as setting the record for most consecutive wins in one category by a male. He has been nominated for and won other awards, including American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, Radio Music Awards, BRIT Awards and Blockbuster Entertainment Awards. On December 1, 2011, Kravitz was made an Officer of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. He plays the role of Cinna in the Hunger Games film series.

Andrei Gabriel Pleșu (n. 23 august 1948, București) este un scriitor și eseist român, estetician și istoric al artei, un stilist distins al limbii române. A fost ministrul Culturii (28 decembrie 1989 - 16 octombrie 1991) în Guvernul Petre Roman și ministrul Afacerilor Externe în Guvernul Radu Vasile (29 decembrie 1997 - 22 decembrie 1999). În tinerete, la vârsta de 20 de ani (în 1968), a intrat în Partidul Comunist Român, pentru ca în ultimii ani ai regimului comunist să fie unul dintre intelectualii opozanți, neremarcându-se totuși prin gesturi deschise de disidență.
Absolvent al Liceului „Spiru Haret" și al Facultății de Arte Plastice (la Secția de istoria și teoria artei), ca șef de promoție, a participat la Școala de la Păltiniș, fiind alături de Gabriel Liiceanu unul dintre cei mai importanți discipoli ai filosofului Constantin Noica. A ajuns persona non grata în urma scandalului „Meditației Transcedentale", pierzându-și locul de muncă și fiind nevoit să petreacă o lungă perioadă de timp „în exil" la Tescani. Deși i-a fost permis să părăsească țara încă înainte de 1989, întâlnind figuri de primă mână ale exilului, precum cuplul Virgil Ierunca-Monica Lovinescu, a ales să nu rămână în străinătate.
Doctor honoris causa al Universității „Albert Ludwig" din Freiburg (2000) și al Universității „Humboldt" din Berlin (2001), Commandeur des Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, Grand Officier de la Légion d'honneur și autor de succes, a fost și puternic contestat în ultimii ani, fiind asimilat alături de Gabriel Liiceanu și Horia Roman Patapievici unui grup de interese care ar acapara viața intelectuală și culturală a României. Andrei Pleșu a fost de asemenea aspru criticat ca susținător al președintelui Traian Băsescu, deși își depusese încă din 2005 demisia din fucția de consilier prezidențial.
A fondat revista culturală Dilema (mai târziu redenumită Dilema Veche) în care publică un editorial săptămânal. Pleșu a realizat împreună cu Gabriel Liiceanu câteva emisiuni de televiziune, printre care 50 de minute cu Pleșu și Liiceanu (2011).
S-a născut la București, ca fiu al chirurgului Radu Pleșu și al soției acestuia, Zoe Rădulescu. În 1955 a început școala primară la Sinaia însă după numai un an a urmat școala la Pârscov, județul Buzău (1956-1957) și a încheiat-o la București (1959).[1]
A absolvit Liceul "Spiru Haret" din București în 1966, apoi a urmat cursurile Facultății de Arte Plastice, secția istoria și teoria artei. În 1980 a obținut titlul de doctor în istoria artei cu teza "Sentimentul naturii în cultura europeană". Între 1975-1977 a fost bursier Humboldt la Universitatea din Bonn și în perioada 1983-1984 bursier la Universitatea din Heidelberg.

The 1983 album La Rockeuse de diamant provided a major success with the single "La Rockeuse de diamant", and a daring song with "Autonome", in which she says : "[I'm] free to love a woman or a man". In 1986, she made a breakthrough with the single "Nuit magique" written by Luc Plamondon, her biggest hit that brought her fame and made her win a Victoires de la Musique (French Grammy Awards) for best female singer of the year. She published her autobiography in 1987, L'Aventurière de l'archet perdu. She was named Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture in 1990.
