Kentucky

Kentucky (ⁱ/kənˈtʌki/, kən-TU-kee), officially the Commonwealth of Kentucky, is a state located in the east south-central region of the United States. Kentucky is one of four U.S. states constituted as a commonwealth (the others being Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts). Originally a part of Virginia, in 1792 Kentucky became the 15th state to join the Union. Kentucky is the 37th most extensive and the 26th most populous of the 50 United States.

Kentucky is known as the "Bluegrass State", a nickname based on the bluegrass found in many of its pastures due to the fertile soil. One of the major regions in Kentucky is the Bluegrass Region in central Kentucky which houses two of its major cities, Louisville and Lexington. It is a land with diverse environments and abundant resources, including the world's longest cave system, Mammoth Cave National Park, the greatest length of navigable waterways and streams in the contiguous United States, and the two largest man-made lakes east of the Mississippi River.

Kentucky Rain

"Kentucky Rain" was a 1970 hit song for Elvis Presley. Featuring pianist Ronnie Milsap and written by Eddie Rabbitt and Dick Heard, the single peaked at number 16 on the pop charts. It was recorded at American Sound Studio.

Released as a single on January 29, 1970, "Kentucky Rain" was one of the early hits in 70s for Elvis, though the song was not included on an album until the compilation package Worldwide 50 Gold Award Hits Vol. 1 (LPM-6401); while the track does appear on the 2000 re-release of From Elvis in Memphis, it was not included on the original 1969 album. During Elvis' February 1970 engagement, he performed this at every show, introducing it as a new song "out about a week." Live versions are available on the box sets Elvis Aaron Presley and Live in Las Vegas. The song depicts an anxious lover in search of his love as he walks down through the Kentucky rain.

Justin Wells

Justin Wells (born January 16, 1988) is an American football guard who is currently a free agent.

Background

Wells was born and grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated in 2006 from the Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. While at Poly he played football and threw the shot on the school's track team.

College career

Wells was the starting right guard and a key member of an offensive that set St. Augustine College's single season records for points (28.3) and total offensive yards (318.5) in 2010. That season, the Falcons won the Pioneer Bowl, defeating nationally ranked Fort Valley State 20-9. It was the first bowl win in school history.

Inn 2010, Wells was selected to play in two postseason all-star games: the Dixie Gridiron Classic and HBCU Classic.

Wells graduated with a degree in political science from St. Augustine's University.

Professional career

On August 8, 2012, Wells was signed by the Carolina Panthers. On August 24, 2013, he was waived by the Panthers.

Elvis Presley

Elvis Aaron Presley (January 8, 1935 – August 16, 1977) was an American singer and actor. Regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, he is often referred to as "the King of Rock and Roll", or simply, "the King".

Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, as a twinless twin, and when he was 13 years old, he and his family relocated to Memphis, Tennessee. His music career began there in 1954, when he recorded a song with producer Sam Phillips at Sun Records. Accompanied by guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black, Presley was an early popularizer of rockabilly, an uptempo, backbeat-driven fusion of country music and rhythm and blues. RCA Victor acquired his contract in a deal arranged by Colonel Tom Parker, who managed the singer for more than two decades. Presley's first RCA single, "Heartbreak Hotel", was released in January 1956 and became a number-one hit in the United States. He was regarded as the leading figure of rock and roll after a series of successful network television appearances and chart-topping records. His energized interpretations of songs and sexually provocative performance style, combined with a singularly potent mix of influences across color lines that coincided with the dawn of the Civil Rights Movement, made him enormously popular—and controversial.

Rain

Rain is liquid water in the form of droplets that have condensed from atmospheric water vapor and then precipitated—that is, become heavy enough to fall under gravity. Rain is a major component of the water cycle and is responsible for depositing most of the fresh water on the Earth. It provides suitable conditions for many types of ecosystems, as well as water for hydroelectric power plants and crop irrigation.

The major cause of rain production is moisture moving along three-dimensional zones of temperature and moisture contrasts known as weather fronts. If enough moisture and upward motion is present, precipitation falls from convective clouds (those with strong upward vertical motion) such as cumulonimbus (thunder clouds) which can organize into narrow rainbands. In mountainous areas, heavy precipitation is possible where upslope flow is maximized within windward sides of the terrain at elevation which forces moist air to condense and fall out as rainfall along the sides of mountains. On the leeward side of mountains, desert climates can exist due to the dry air caused by downslope flow which causes heating and drying of the air mass. The movement of the monsoon trough, or intertropical convergence zone, brings rainy seasons to savannah climes.
