My clutch slave cylinder failed so i thought i would make a quick video of how to replace it. This is on a 1997 Jeep Cherokee xj but works on other models and makes such as Toyota equipped with a hydraulic clutch system.

1989 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer 4.0L I6 AW4 4X4 Command-Trac Renix
Time to tackle another upgrade. Today that pesky pressure bottle is gonna go cause problems elsewhere because it's time to upgrade the old closed cooling system to something a bit more reliable.
The process was fairly simple and cheap the way that I did it. I've seen other versions that are more complicated than they need to be. The whole process boils down to getting a newer year radiator with a Rad cap on it, then replacing the pressure bottle with an overflow bottle and capping the old lines.
The first issue people have is If you order a rad without the fan switch hole then you have to rig up something to activate the aux fan. The second issue is that the heater control valve will get removed which allows hot coolant to run through the heater core all the time. That might be an issue if you like your A/C but otherwise shouldn't cause a problem.

BRAKE FLUID WILL DESTROY YOUR PAINT, WASH IT OFF IF YOU HAVE SPILLED ASAP.
ALWAYS use a new bottle of Brake Fluid (I personally use the Yellow Bottle that is Synthetic Dot 4 in my DOT 3 system). If you have a bottle that has been opened for more than 1-2 months you should buy a new one. Brake fluid is Hydroscopic which means it will absorb moisture over time. This moisture causes brake lines to rust and also causes brake fluid to boil at a lower boiling point. It will also eventually cause air to form in the brake system.
Bleeding and/or flushing your brake system shouldn't be a chore. I was always taught that you have one person sitting in the drivers seat and the other down at the wheel doing the bleeding, but have taken a lesson or two since then. This video shows how simple it is to bleed/flush your brake system with one person. Just be sure the tubing you use is tight enough to not come off when you press the pedal and/or let air back into the system. When in doubt you can use the gravity bleed to remove the air. Once you've bleed through the line, remove the hose and let fluid come out. As long as it's not burping air and are just seeing fluid, it should be good. Make sure to wash off any brake fluid that has gotten on your paint or tires as the tire rotates the rotating will force the brake fluid on your paint.
MAKE SURE THE MASTER CYLINDER NEVER RUNS OUT OF FLUID. I usually pump a maximum of 10 pumps on the pedal, then check and top off the fluid. This will assure that your not pumping air into the system.
Intervals:
Non Anti-Lock Brakes: every 50,000 miles
ABS (Anti-Lock Brakes: every 30,000 miles
More often in Dusty/ High Humidity areas.
Most rear wheel drive vehicles: 1st Rear Passenger, 2nd Rear Driver, 3rd Front Passenger, Last Front Driver. This bleeding is applicable for Front Rear Split systems. Other type of braking systems will vary.
Some Front Wheel Drive vehicles: 1st Rear Passenger, 2nd Front Driver, 3rd Rear Driver, Last Front Passenger. This is on a Diagonally split braking system and could be just the opposite from what is posted here.
Look in a repair manual for your specific vehicle and the way it should be bled.

Comanche

MAKE SURE THE MASTER CYLINDER NEVER RUNS OUT OF FLUID. I usually pump a maximum of 10 pumps on the pedal, then check and top off the fluid. This will assure that your not pumping air into the system. Intervals: Non Anti-Lock Brakes: every 50,000 miles ABS (Anti-Lock Brakes: every 30,000 miles More often in Dusty/ High Humidity areas. Most rear wheel drive vehicles: 1st Rear Passenger, 2nd Rear Driver, 3rd Front Passenger, Last Front Driver. This bleeding is applicable for Front Rear Split systems. Other type of braking systems will vary. Some Front Wheel Drive vehicles: 1st Rear Passenger, 2nd Front Driver, 3rd Rear Driver, Last Front Passenger. This is on a Diagonally split braking system and could be just the opposite from what is posted here. Look in a repair manual for your specific vehicle and the way it should be bled. 89 Cherokee Closed to Open Cooling System Conversion
1989 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer 4.0L I6 AW4 4X4 Command-Trac Renix Time to tackle another upgrade. Today that pesky pressure bottle is gonna go cause problems elsewhere because it's time to upgrade the old closed cooling system to something a bit more reliable. The process was fairly simple and cheap the way that I did it. I've seen other versions that are more complicated than they need to be. The whole process boils down to getting a newer year radiator with a Rad cap on it, then replacing the pressure bottle with an overflow bottle and capping the old lines. The first issue people have is If you order a rad without the fan switch hole then you have to rig up something to activate the aux fan. How to Bleed Brakes with one person (1985 Jeep Cherokee / Mini Wagoneer shown)
BRAKE FLUID WILL DESTROY YOUR PAINT, WASH IT OFF IF YOU HAVE SPILLED ASAP. ALWAYS use a new bottle of Brake Fluid (I personally use the Yellow Bottle that is Synthetic Dot 4 in my DOT 3 system). If you have a bottle that has been opened for more than 1-2 months you should buy a new one. Brake fluid is Hydroscopic which means it will absorb moisture over time. This moisture causes brake lines to rust and also causes brake fluid to boil at a lower boiling point. It will also eventually cause air to form in the brake system. Bleeding and/or flushing your brake system shouldn't be a chore. I was always taught that you have one person sitting in the drivers seat and the other down at the wheel doing the bleeding, but have taken a lesson or two since then. Time to tackle another upgrade. Today that pesky pressure bottle is gonna go cause problems elsewhere because it's time to upgrade the old closed cooling system to something a bit more reliable.

That might be an issue if you like your A/C but otherwise shouldn't cause a problem.

The process was fairly simple and cheap the way that I did it. I've seen other versions that are more complicated than they need to be. The whole process boils down to getting a newer year radiator with a Rad cap on it, then replacing the pressure bottle with an overflow bottle and capping the old lines.
The first issue people have is If you order a rad without the fan switch hole then you have to rig up something to activate the aux fan. The second issue is that the heater control valve will get removed which allows hot coolant to run through the heater core all the time. That might be an issue if you like your A/C but otherwise shouldn't cause a problem.

BRAKE FLUID WILL DESTROY YOUR PAINT, WASH IT OFF IF YOU HAVE SPILLED ASAP.
ALWAYS use a new bottle of Brake Fluid (I personally use the Yellow Bottle that is Synthetic Dot 4 in my DOT 3 system). If you have a bottle that has been opened for more than 1-2 months you should buy a new one. Brake fluid is Hydroscopic which means it will absorb moisture over time. This moisture causes brake lines to rust and also causes brake fluid to boil at a lower boiling point. It will also eventually cause air to form in the brake system.
Bleeding and/or flushing your brake system shouldn't be a chore. I was always taught that you have one person sitting in the drivers seat and the other down at the wheel doing the bleeding, but have taken a lesson or two since then. This video shows how simple it is to bleed/flush your brake system with one person. Just be sure the tubing you use is tight enough to not come off when you press the pedal and/or let air back into the system. When in doubt you can use the gravity bleed to remove the air. Once you've bleed through the line, remove the hose and let fluid come out. As long as it's not burping air and are just seeing fluid, it should be good. Make sure to wash off any brake fluid that has gotten on your paint or tires as the tire rotates the rotating will force the brake fluid on your paint.
MAKE SURE THE MASTER CYLINDER NEVER RUNS OUT OF FLUID. I usually pump a maximum of 10 pumps on the pedal, then check and top off the fluid. This will assure that your not pumping air into the system.
Intervals:
Non Anti-Lock Brakes: every 50,000 miles
ABS (Anti-Lock Brakes: every 30,000 miles
More often in Dusty/ High Humidity areas.
Most rear wheel drive vehicles: 1st Rear Passenger, 2nd Rear Driver, 3rd Front Passenger, Last Front Driver. This bleeding is applicable for Front Rear Split systems. Other type of braking systems will vary.
Some Front Wheel Drive vehicles: 1st Rear Passenger, 2nd Front Driver, 3rd Rear Driver, Last Front Passenger. This is on a Diagonally split braking system and could be just the opposite from what is posted here.
Look in a repair manual for your specific vehicle and the way it should be bled.
