The country covers an area 5,128 square kilometres (1,980 sq mi) and consists of two main islands, Trinidad and Tobago, and numerous smaller landforms. Trinidad is the larger and more populous of the main islands, comprising about 94% of the total area and 96% of the total population of the country. The nation lies outside the hurricane belt.
The island of Trinidad was a Spanish colony from the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1498 to the capitulation of the Spanish Governor, Don José Maria Chacón, on the arrival of a British fleet of 18 warships on 18 February 1797. During the same period, the island of Tobago changed hands between Spanish, British, French, Dutch and Courlander colonizers. Trinidad and Tobago was ceded to Britain in 1802 under the Treaty of Amiens. The country obtained independence in 1962, becoming a republic in 1976. Unlike most of the English-speaking Caribbean, Trinidad and Tobago's economy is primarily industrial, with an emphasis on petroleum and petrochemicals.
Tobago has a land area of 300 km² (116 mi²), and is approximately 42 km (26 mi) long and 10 km (6.2 mi) wide. It is located at latitude 11° 9' N, longitude 60° 40' W, slightly north of Trinidad. The population is 54,084 (2000). The capital is Scarborough which has a population of about 17,000. While Trinidad is multiethnic, the population of Tobago is primarily of African descent, although with a growing proportion of Trinidadians of East Indian descent and Europeans (predominantly Germans and Scandinavians). Between 1990 and 2000, the population of Tobago grew by 11.28 percent, making it one of the fastest growing areas of the country.

The Diamond Standard is the National Standard for Excellence in Citizen Service in the Public Service of Trinidad and Tobago.
Congratulating them on their achievement, Prime Minister, The Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, emphasized that “the Public Sector is the implementation arm of the Government and if it does not serve, we cannot serve. You are the ones who hold the influence to make it easier for support to reach people, for businesses to achieve efficiency, for young professionals to grow and indeed, for our desire for growth and development to be achieved. Your successes to date prove that change is not only possible, but that it is a process in motion.”
Thirty- four (34) services were involved from the start of the programme in June 2013 however only twenty of these services registered to be assessed for the Diamond Standard Certification.
Minister of Public Administration, the Honourable Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan honoured the accomplishments of all the services who participated in the programme saying, “There was great buy-in from all levels of staff striving for the Diamond Standard in their operations, as well as from the members of the public accessing those services. Nicky Minaj Vs Mordecai
Onika Tanya Maraj (born December 8, 1982),[1][2] better known by her stage name Nicki Minaj (/mɪˈnɑːʒ/), is an American rapper, singer and songwriter. Born in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago and raised in Jamaica, Queens, New York, Minaj earned public attention after releasing three mixtapes between 2007–2009. She signed a recording contract with Young Money Entertainment in 2009.
Minaj's debut studio album, Pink Friday (2010), peaked at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 and spawned the top-three single "Super Bass". During that time, Minaj became the first female solo artist to have seven singles simultaneously charting on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Her second studio album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (2012), also topped the chart and its lead single, "Starships", peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100. Minaj's third studio album, The Pinkprint (2014), was preceded by its second single, "Anaconda", which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and is her highest-charting single in the United States to date. Minaj made her film debut in the 2012 animated film Ice Age: Continental Drift, and also starred in the 2014 film The Other Woman. In 2013, she was a main judge on the twelfth season of American Idol.
Regular Show is an American adult animated sitcom created by J. G. Quintel for Cartoon Network that premiered on September 6, 2010. The series revolves around the lives of two friends, a blue jay named Mordecai and a raccoon named Rigby—both employed as groundskeepers at a local park. Their regular attempts to slack off usually lead to surreal, extreme, and often supernatural misadventures. During these misadventures, they interact with the show's other main characters: Benson, Pops, Muscle Man, Hi-Five Ghost, Skips, Thomas, Margaret and Eileen.
The series revolves around the daily lives of two 23-year-old friends, Mordecai—a blue jay, and Rigby—a raccoon. They work as groundskeepers at a park and spend their days trying to avoid work and entertain themselves by any means.[3]This is much to the chagrin of their manager/boss Benson—a gumball machine and their coworker Skips—a yeti, but to the delight of their (other) manager/boss Pops—a man with a lollipop for a head. Other coworkers include an overweight green man called Muscle Man, a ghost called Hi-Five Ghost, and an intern goat called Thomas.[4] Mordecai often visits a local coffee house to talk to the waitress, a red breasted robin called Margaret–upon whom he has a crush.

The musical traditions of the Caribbean run as deep as the cultures that settled here, and the rhythms of calypso and reggae can be felt throughout the islands. Nowhere is calypso more pervasive than in its birthplace of Trinidad.
Here, in Trinidad, West African slaves mixed their rhythms with those of the Spanish colonizers to create the Afro-Caribbean blend that is synonymous with dancing and improvisation. Calypso is impromptu story telling and social commentary set to i

This is a a whole day boat trip tour of the Island of Tobago which is part of the country of Trinidad and Tobago. We do several different things on this tour. This is an all day trip from 10A to 5P. The first part of the video is a bit shaky as we travel at a high rate of speed over the waves. Our first stop is at 3:19 into the video and is called Mount Irvine Bay. It was a nice calm beach. At 5:50 we pick up some fish which they will cook for us later on no mans island. At 6:55 we are by another beach. At 7:21 pass by Stone Haven Village and Le Grand Courland Resort and Stonehaven Bay. At 8:30 we pass close to rocks. At 9:10 we are at

Around the main square the most beautiful palaces stand in rows and are an impressive indicator of the colonial lifestyle enjoyed by the former sugar aristocracy. The slave trade and the cultivation of sugar cane made the island’s inhabitants incredibly wealthy and Trinidad became the most important cultural and trade centre in the whole of Cuba. The former palace of the Cantero sugar barons now houses the Museo De Historia, an impressive building in the Calle Bolivar in which visitors can marvel at old timepieces, porcelain, furniture and valuable crystal chandeliers. The seven storey Torre De Iznaga rises menacingly into the sky, the bells of which once summoned the plantation slaves to work while watchmen surveyed the valley from above because of the fears of the plantation owners who believed that one day the slaves would rebel against them. Splendid exotic beauty in a land situated between sun and socialism, sugar and cigars, rumba and revolution. In Trinidad it is as though everything is in a state of suspended animation waiting to be kissed awake.

The beauty of the nature of Tobago once inspired Daniel Defoe to let his famous castaway Robinson Crusoe land there. The island appeared to the hero as a planted Garden of Eden, and it is still impressive today. The rainforest of Tobago is the oldest virgin rainforest in the western hemisphere.
Arawak people were the first settlers on the island (1st century). Later the Caribs came from South America. The name chistopher columbus gave the island in 1498 was Bellaforma, later it became the name Tobago from Tobacco, which was growm on the island. Tobago was colnised by the British Empire. With the colonization different plants come to the island, such as coco plams and sugar cane. Plantations of these plants were driven with the labour force of slaves until the abolishment of slavery in 1833.
The island state Trinidad and Tobago belongs geographycally to South America, because of its nature. At the end of the last ice age melting glaciers caused the sea level to raise turning Trinindad and Tobago into island.
Ian Flemming, the author of the famous James Bond films, wrote some of the James Bond adventures here.
The documentation shows also the different fishing methods of the tobagonians. Some still fish in a very traditional manner by throwing the fishing nets into the sea and pull them back on the beach. The locals sell the fish at the market in Scarborough.
Liming ist the tobagonian art of doing nothing. People get together, drink and play cards. And of course music plays an important role on the village. Every Sunday the village of baku holds its Sunday school, a huge street party featuring bands playing the steelpan.

Transcript:
The musical traditions of the Caribbean run as deep as the cultures that settled here, and the rhythms of calypso and reggae can be felt throughout the islands. Nowhere is calypso more pervasive than in its birthplace of Trinidad.
Here, in Trinidad, West African slaves mixed their rhythms with those of the Spanish colonizers to create the Afro-Caribbean blend that is synonymous with dancing and improvisation. Calypso is impromptu story telling and social commentary set to infectious rhythms.
The people of Trinidad's irrepressible urge to make music is probably best reflected in the steel drum. Originally fashioned from discarded oil barrels, the steel drum is now one of the most popular instruments in the Caribbean. Their sound is unmistakable, and the steel band is an important part of everyday life.
Building and tuning these instruments is a painstaking tradition that is passed down from one generation to the next. In some cases, drum tuning has even entered the computer age...
Every drum has a different pitch, and when several are played together the steel band comes alive.
Calypso achieves its highest expression in the visual and musical spectacle of Carnival.
Carnival is celebrated more lavishly in Trinidad than anywhere else in the Caribbean. It is a non-stop party for two days before Ash Wednesday, and the locals plan for it all year.
The festivity is carefully organized, with 15 to 20 clubs competing for the best costumes. Bands represent each club, and the people parade in costumes ranging from African tribal attire to serpents to dazzling butterflies. It is a sensual and high-spirited celebration of life.

Trinidad & Tobago Travel - The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is an archipelagic state in the southern Caribbean, lying northeast of the South American country of Venezuela and south of Grenada in the Lesser Antilles. It shares maritime boundaries with other nations including Barbados to the northeast, Guyana to the southeast, and Venezuela to the south and west.
The country covers an area of 5,128 square kilometres (1,980 sq mi)[6] and consists of two main islands, Trinidad and Tobago, and numerous smaller landforms. Trinidad is the larger and more populous of the main islands; Tobago is much smaller, comprising about 6% of the total area and 4% of the entire population which is estimated at 1.3 million (2005). The nation lies outside the hurricane belt.
Trinidad and Tobago was a Spanish colony from the times of Christopher Columbus to 1802, when it was ceded to Britain. The country obtained independence in 1962. Unlike most of the English-speaking Caribbean, Trinidad and Tobagos economy is primarily industrial with an emphasis on petroleum and petrochemicals. Trinidad and Tobago has a sound macroeconomic framework and a long tradition of institutional stability. It scores relatively well in many of the 10 economic freedoms, and its economy has grown at an average rate of close to 7 percent over the past five years. The government has tried to diversify the economic base, and the country has evolved into a key financial center in the Caribbean region.
Trinidad and Tobago is known for its Carnival and is the birthplace of steelpan, calypso, soca, and limbo.

At 9:10 we are at the Great Courland Bay aka Turtle Beach and the Turtle Beach by Rex Resorts. At 12:45 we hit some big waves. At 14:15 we reach Cotton Bay (Paradise Bay) which is a secluded beach only reachable by boat. This is the first stop where we can get out. Better views start at 15:05. BEAUTIFUL!!! At 16:20 you will see people snorkeling. At 17:11 we are at beach called Jurassic Park Bay or Celery Bay. At 18:39 we pass by a waterfall. At 19:24 we are at a small village on the beach. At 19:50 we go snorkeling in some beautiful water with LOTS of fish underneath. at 20:50 you will see how clear the water is!!!! At 22:30 I show you all all the drinks in the cooler. They provide all the drinks and food. At 23:50 we go fishing for our lunch and get some tuna. It was some of the best fish I ever at. It is all fresh. Nothing like freshly caught fish!!!! At 26:00 we caught a fish! At 27:12 we reach no man lands.

This ceremony is a tangible way of recognizing the important contributions”

Travel video about destination Trinidad.
Located to the south of the Caribbean island of Cuba, Trinidad was founded by the Spaniard, Velazquez and in the 18th century the city experienced great wealth and recognition through the cultivation of sugar cane. The exclusive palaces and villas of the sugar barons still leave their mark on the city with tall wooden gates, barred windows and original roof tiles that characterise the style of bygone days. The Palacio Padron is located on the Plaza Mayor, the centre of the city. A few years ago the palace was lovingly restored in painstaking detail and transformed into an archaeological museum.

Tobago (travel-documentary from the season "Caribbean Moments")

This ceremony is a tangible way of recognizing the important contributions”
