I talk about what you need to know about Pokemon Go and how to get yourself started. Q: Where can I download it from? A: Android or iOS --- The basics --- When you boot up Pokemon Go for the first time, you customise your trainer by giving them a name etc. Similar to Pokemon on Nintendo. You then select your starter Pokemon. Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle or Pikachu. Once you've caught your first Pokemon, your journey begins. A map loads up from your current location (similar to Google maps) On the map, you'll be able to see landmarks, Pokestops and Gyms. To access them, you need to be close to their destination. Gyms require a certain level. You can also find Pokemon in rustling grass and Pokemon might appear for you to catch. Each Pokemon has zero to three footprints to show you the distance they are from your location. As a trainer, you gain experience as you travel and catch Pokemon --- Catching Pokemon --- It's very simple. You throw a Poke ball and you wait to see if you catch it. There are a few factors which decide if you catch the Pokemon. The CP level of the Pokemon, the Poke Ball used and your throwing technique. Also, to note. Some Pokemon may run away if you don't act fast enough. When throwing the ball, you'll see a ring inside a circle where the Pokemon is. Once it's green, that's the best time to throw. More chance of catching it. There's a "nearby" feature which shows you Pokemon nearby. --- Pokemon Traits --- Pokemon have "CP" which stands for Command Points which is above their name which indicates how strong they are. The higher your trainers level, the higher rated Pokemon will appear. --- Leveling Up/Evolution --- If you want to level up your Pokemon, then you use Stardust which you get from capturing Pokemon. Evolving Pokemon involves the transfer step with the Professor along with specific candies. --- Pokestops --- Pokestops give you items and eggs. --- Eggs --- Once you have an egg, to hatch them you have to walk around a certain distance. You need a Incubator to hatch eggs. You get one when you start but to have more, you need to purchase more. --- Items --- In PokeStops, you can purchase items with real life money or in game currency. You can buy more Pokeballs etc. --- Battling and Gyms --- Once your trainer, reaches level 5. You can join a team. Red, Blue or Yellow. You can then start gym battles. Once you join a team, you can assign a Pokemon in which you've caught to open a Gym or where a team member has placed one of their Pokemon. Only one Pokemon per player will be set a particular gym. If the gym prestige is reduced to zero (goes lower by defeating Pokemon at the gym), the defending team loses control of that gym. --- Healing and Reviving --- To heal your Pokemon, you have to use special items. Pokemon don't heal automatically and there are no Pokemon Centers.
