TAFTA: vers la plus grande zone de libre-échange au monde
Le Traité transatlantique est discuté depuis plus de deux ans entre l'Europe et les États-Unis. Il pourrait rebattre les cartes du commerce mondial.
Les enjeux du TAFTA sont colossaux. Les dirigeants des États-Unis et de l'Europe négocient depuis plus de deux ans dans le plus grand secret. L'objectif : +dessiner une gigantesque zone de libre-échange.
Aujourd'hui, l'Atlantique est un océan encore difficile à franchir pour les marchandises. Il faut payer des droits de douane, remplir des dizaines de formulaires et surtout respecter les nombreuses réglementations qui sont différentes entre les États-Unis et l'Europe. Exemple, en Europe, les voitures doivent avoir des phares de lumière blanche. Washington exige des phares de lumière ambrée. Un fabricant de voitures en Europe n'a donc aucune chance d'exporter.
Objectif 2016 ou 2017
Si toutes les normes étaient harmonisées entre les deux continents, des millions de produits pourraient circuler librement entre l'Europe et les États-Unis. La Commission européenne est enthousiaste. Selon elle, ce traité apportera croissance et emploi. Mais beaucoup ne croient pas ces promesses. 3,3 millions d'Européens ont signé une pétition contre. Ils craignent que les États-Unis imposent leurs lois. Pour eux, cette logique "libérale" est inacceptable.
Les services culturels et les produits financiers sont exclus des négociations. La signature du traité n'aura pas lieu avant 2016 ou 2017. Il devra être approuvé par les 28 pays européens.

A Transatlantic Free Trade Area (TAFTA) is a proposal to create a trans-atlantic free-trade area covering Europe and North America. Such proposals have been made since the 1990s and since 2013 an agreement between the United States and the European Union has been under negotiation: the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. Once complete, if combined with free trade agreements with Canada, Mexico and the European Free Trade Association, it could form a free trade area covering a large portion of the two continents.

TTIP, the US/EU Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (called TAFTA -- Transatlantic Free Trade Agreement in the US) is a 'free trade' agreement between the world two biggest economies. It is in fact a corporate coup that will take us to a 'corporatocracy', a corporate-run world. It is being promoted by transnational corporations, for the benefit of transnational corporations, and mainly transnational financial service corporations -- the banks and other financial service firms that caused the financial crisis that has resulted in welfare cuts and other hardships for ordinary people. This deal will mean: - Regulation that protects us from transnational corporations, 'harmonised' between the US and the EU -- in fact downgraded to the lowest level, to suit corporations. Where regulation can't be 'harmonised' in this way, a process of 'mutual recognition' will allow transnational corporations to choose the weakest form of regulation. The UK NHS has already been 'harmonised' with US corporate-benefit public healthcare with the passing of the UK Health and Social Care Act (2012). - A permanent supra-national committee will be set up to continue this 'harmonising' work after the TTIP is signed up, called the Regulatory Co-operation Committee. Having this ongoing mechanism as part of TTIP in place will allow for a fast completion of the trade deal, before people realise what is being hidden behind the feelgood facade of 'trade'. With 'harmonisation' the first priority for all new regulation, and with corporations involved from the very earliest stages, this committee will in effect override governments' policy-making with what coporations want, and thus override democracy. - 'Investor State Dispute Settlement' (ISDS) in TTIP will allow transnational corporations to sue governments for any loss of future profits resulting from any government action, such as the introduction of new laws to protect the public or the environment. Where ISDS provision is in place in trade deals elsewhere, it is resulting in big payments of public money to transnational corporations or, even more seriously, legislation being abandoned for fear of such pay-outs. - It is intended that corporate-benefit 'global trade rules' will be established via TTIP that the rest of the world, including developing countries, will then be forced to accept. This is what you are not being told about the TTIP, while the spin is that it's about 'jobs and growth'. The negotiations and what is being offered on your behalf are being kept secret until the deal is signed up. Information is coming from leaked documents. Once the deal is in place, those commitments made in secret will be effectively permanent, for us and for future generations. The NHS, 'harmonised'through the national Health and Social Care Act legislation, now has enforced competitive tendering which is open to transnational corporations. When this liberalised provision in the Act becomes part of the TTIP it will all become irreversible, however disastrous the effects of competitive tendering prove to be. Aujourd'hui, l'Atlantique est un océan encore difficile à franchir pour les marchandises. Il faut payer des droits de douane, remplir des dizaines de formulaires et surtout respecter les nombreuses réglementations qui sont différentes entre les États-Unis et l'Europe. Exemple, en Europe, les voitures doivent avoir des phares de lumière blanche. Washington exige des phares de lumière ambrée. Un fabricant de voitures en Europe n'a donc aucune chance d'exporter.
Objectif 2016 ou 2017
Si toutes les normes étaient harmonisées entre les deux continents, des millions de produits pourraient circuler librement entre l'Europe et les États-Unis. La Commission européenne est enthousiaste. Selon elle, ce traité apportera croissance et emploi. Mais beaucoup ne croient pas ces promesses. 3,3 millions d'Européens ont signé une pétition contre. Ils craignent que les États-Unis imposent leurs lois. Pour eux, cette logique "libérale" est inacceptable.
Les services culturels et les produits financiers sont exclus des négociations. La signature du traité n'aura pas lieu avant 2016 ou 2017. Il devra être approuvé par les 28 pays européens.

However TTIP is not about trade. It is in fact a corporate coup that will take us to a 'corporatocracy', a corporate-run world.
It is being promoted by transnational corporations, for the benefit of transnational corporations, and mainly transnational financial service corporations -- the banks and other financial service firms that caused the financial crisis that has resulted in welfare cuts and other hardships for ordinary people.
This deal will mean:
- Regulation that protects us from transnational corporations, 'harmonised' between the US and the EU -- in fact downgraded to the lowest level, to suit corporations.
Where regulation can't be 'harmonised' in this way, a process of 'mutual recognition' will allow transnational corporations to choose the weakest form of regulation.
The UK NHS has already been 'harmonised' with US corporate-benefit public healthcare with the passing of the UK Health and Social Care Act (2012).
- A permanent supra-national committee will be set up to continue this 'harmonising' work after the TTIP is signed up, called the Regulatory Co-operation Committee.
Having this ongoing mechanism as part of TTIP in place will allow for a fast completion of the trade deal, before people realise what is being hidden behind the feelgood facade of 'trade'.
With 'harmonisation' the first priority for all new regulation, and with corporations involved from the very earliest stages, this committee will in effect override governments' policy-making with what coporations want, and thus override democracy.
- 'Investor State Dispute Settlement' (ISDS) in TTIP will allow transnational corporations to sue governments for any loss of future profits resulting from any government action, such as the introduction of new laws to protect the public or the environment.
Where ISDS provision is in place in trade deals elsewhere, it is resulting in big payments of public money to transnational corporations or, even more seriously, legislation being abandoned for fear of such pay-outs.
- It is intended that corporate-benefit 'global trade rules' will be established via TTIP that the rest of the world, including developing countries, will then be forced to accept.
This is what you are not being told about the TTIP, while the spin is that it's about 'jobs and growth'.
The negotiations and what is being offered on your behalf are being kept secret until the deal is signed up. Information is coming from leaked documents.
Once the deal is in place, those commitments made in secret will be effectively permanent, for us and for future generations.
The NHS, 'harmonised'through the national Health and Social Care Act legislation, now has enforced competitive tendering which is open to transnational corporations. When this liberalised provision in the Act becomes part of the TTIP it will all become irreversible, however disastrous the effects of competitive tendering prove to be.

American Cruise Lines Adding 2nd River Cruise Ship to Line Aida Orders New LNG Powered Ship. With Carnival's Aida Cruise Lines ordering a new 180,000 ton LNG Powered cruise ship it will mean that Carnival will have 20 new ships on order for the 10 different brands they operate worldwide. Carnival operates 103 ships today and is the largest operator of cruise ships in the world. American Cruise Lines will take delivery of their second brand new river cruise ship in 2020. The ship will carry 65 crew and 200 passangers along rivers in the USA. The cruising schedule and departure locations will be released later this year along with pricing.

With Carnival's Aida Cruise Lines ordering a new 180,000 ton LNG Powered cruise ship it will mean that Carnival will have 20 new ships on order for the 10 different brands they operate worldwide. Carnival operates 103 ships today and is the largest operator of cruise ships in the world. American Cruise Lines will take delivery of their second brand new river cruise ship in 2020. The ship will carry 65 crew and 200 passangers along rivers in the USA. The cruising schedule and departure locations will be released later this year along with pricing.
