Reamonn

Reamonn is a German pop rock band. They have recorded six albums.

History

The 1990s

In 1997, Rea Garvey left his band The Reckless Pedestrians and home town of Tralee, Ireland to go to Germany with not a lot of money and a demo CD in his pocket. He put an ad into local paper Stockacher Anzeiger stating, "Singer requires band for recording and live shows". Mike Gommeringer (Gomezz) saw this ad and accurately assumed it must have been Garvey, whose original band he had once seen play live. The two met up and subsequently recruited Uwe, Sebi and Phil. Their first gig was played on New Year's Eve 1998 in Stockach. "Reamonn" is the Irish for "Raymond".

In order to secure a recording contract, they set up a showcase at Logo, a small club in Hamburg, in front of 16 representatives from various record labels in 1999. The band was quickly offered several contracts, settling on signing with Virgin Records Germany. As of 2006, they are now releasing their music through Universal Music.

Early history

Universal Music was once the music company attached to film studio Universal Pictures. Its origins go back to the formation of the American branch of Decca Records in 1934. The Decca Record Co. Ltd. of England spun American Decca off in 1939.MCA Inc. merged with American Decca in 1962. The present organization was formed when its parent company Seagram purchased PolyGram in May 1998 and merged it with Universal Music Group in early 1999. However, the name had first appeared in 1996 when MCA Music Entertainment Group was renamed Universal Music Group. The PolyGram acquisition included Deutsche Grammophon which traces its ancestry to Berliner Gramophone making Deutsche Grammophon UMG's oldest unit. UMG's Canadian unit traces its ancestry to a Berliner Gramophone breakaway firm the Compo Company.

Stay with Me (Kumi Koda song)

"Stay with Me" (stylized as stay with me) is the forty-second single by Kumi Koda. It is described as a "winter love ballad" by her official site. Limited editions of the single featured an orgel version of stay with me, a poster and a draw card, much how her previous single, TABOO, did. The fan club editions also included a poster, but also gave the buyers the option of a mirror or mousepad with the fan club CD picture on it.

The single debuted at #1 on Oricon and charted for nine weeks, making it her sixth number-one single and the first time in her career she had two number-one singles back-to-back (TABOO also charted at #1).

The single is certified Gold by RIAJ for shipment of 100,000 copies.

Music video

A music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic purposes. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. There are also cases where songs are used in tie in marketing campaigns that allow them to become more than just a song. Consequentially, YouTube has been converted into a social media platform for celebrities and artists to market themselves to their fans and audiences.
