The logistics and warehouse sector plays a critical role in commercial and retail business. Logistic jobs refer to the actual transporting, shipping and distribution of goods while warehousing jobs refer to the packaging, preparing and storage of these goods. Working in either logistics or warehousing means you are closely involved with the process of preparation and storage logistics, transport to offset points and chains of commercial or retail locations. The sector bears a high level of safety standards and as worker in either logistics or warehousing, you need to be fully aware of safety standards along the chain of logistic activities.

The golden thread of job responsibilities in the logistics and warehouse industry is management and organising. Without good management and organising abilities, your daily job will be hardly successful. Working in the logistics and warehouse sector requires excellent teamwork – large teams work together to deliver the logistic task without the smallest glitch along the way. Whether you occupy a staff, manager or supervisor role, working in logistics and warehousing means long hours and usually shift hours. The ability to perform physical work, especially for logistic jobs, is usually a requirement. The sector does however offer some office-based work in contrast to the logistics and warehouse work environments, for which office, administration and computer skills will be necessary.

• Grade 12 Matriculation
• Tertiary qualification / certificate / diploma in Logistics Operation / Warehouse Management / Logistics, Supply & Transport
