Geraldton

Located in the mid-west area of Western Australia, Geraldton is a port city. In 2011, it was recorded that the population was 26, 872. Geraldton is a vial service point for the surrounding regions which largely operate in the fishing, mining, agricultural and tourism sectors.

Water sports are very popular in Geraldton and include windsurfing, kitesurfing, fishing, surfing, swimming and diving. It is also home to the superb HMAS Sydney II memorial that was completed in the year 2001. During World War Two, 645 Australian soldiers were killed off the coast of Western Australia as a result of a battle with German attacker HSK Kormoran. The memorial is a significant site for honoring these fallen soldiers.

Geraldton is also a gateway to the enigmatic, Houtman Abrolhos Islands. The islands boats an incredible viewing of marine life and are also the site of the infamous Batavia mutiny of 1629.
