ARPANET

Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET) ishte një rrjet i hershëm packet switching (ndërrimit të paketave) dhe rrjeti i parë që implementojë paketën e protokollit TCP/IP. Të dy teknologjitë u bën themeli teknik i Internetit. ARPANET u financuar fillimisht nga Agjencia e Projekteve Hulumtuese të Avancuara (ARPA) e Departamentit të Mbrojtjes së Shteteve të Bashkuara.[1][2][3][4][5]
