http://www.dslrfilmnoob.com/2012/08/20/rokinon-35mm-f1-4-impressions/ The Rokinon 35mm f1.4 lens can be found under the name Samyang as well as Bower and Vivitar. Basically all of these lenses have the component parts with slightly different branding.
But regardless of which brand you pick, this 35mm f1.4 lens was designed as a less expensive alternative to other 35mm offerings on the market. At a price range of between $400 to $500 the Rokinon 35mm f1.4 lens is less then half the price of Canon's 35mm f1.4 L lens and a 3rd the price of Nikon's 35mm f1.4 G lens offering. Making it an attractive option if you're on a budget.
The Rokinon 35mm f1.4 is a manual focus lens, with absolutely no electronics, so it might not be the best choice for photographing fast moving objects in low light, but if you're willing to be patient and manually focus your shots you can achieve some very good results.
This lens is pretty sharp wide open, doesn't exhibit much lens flare, and has a nice and smooth focus ring. Out of the 3 lenses I think the Rokinon 35mm f1.4 would be the most useful when used with a follow focus system.
If you're willing to take the lens apart you can de-click the the aperture ring which makes this lens pretty much identical to the Samyang 35mm T1.5 Cine Lens just released. Overall the Rokinon 35mm f1.4 lens is a good value as long as you don't mind manual focus. You get similar optical performance to the Canon 35mm f1.4 for less then half the price. If you want auto focus in the same price range the closest alliterative is the Sigma 30mm f1.4 for a crop sensor body or the Canon 28mm f1.8 for a full frame body (I have nothing good to say about the Canon 35mm f2).

Rokinon started with manual photo lenses, then added Focus gears, Iris Gears, and a de-clicked iris called the Rokinon Cine. Later they standardized the Focus and Iris Gear positions and called this the Cine DS line. The Cine DS Line also had better coatings and a more expanded line of lenses (not available in Cine). The XEEN Cine Lenses are now their most professional line which includes standard Lens Diameters, Standard Focus and Iris Gear positions, Better Housings, better tolerances (less breathing), and higher optical coatings. The XEEN Lenses also have an 11 blade iris where the Cine and Cine DS lenses only have 8.

In this video we're going to review the Rokinon 12mm full-frame fisheye lens. We're going to compare it to the Nikon 16mm f/2.8 fisheye as well as the Rokinon 14mm non-fisheye.
You'll definitely want to click through to our site and read the full written review, with image samples and sharpness crops etc. however simply put, this lens is amazing. For anyone who finds themselves shooting in confined spaces, whether urbex photography, spelunking, (caving) or simple interior real-estate photography, having an extra few mm on the wide end is always a good thing.
This lens is significantly wider than the Nikon 16mm f/2.8 fisheye, and when de-fisheye'd in Photoshop using a plugin like Fisheye Hemi, it is jaw-droppingly wider than the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8.
Also, it is much sharper than the Nikon fisheye, (therefore making it as sharp as or sharper than all other full-frame fisheye lenses on the market!) ...and is marginally sharper than the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 even when de-fisheye'd.

Samyang Optics
Samyang Optics Company Limited is a Korean company founded in 1972, manufacturing optical equipment, CCTV and photographic accessories. All Samyang lenses are produced in the company's plant in Masan, South Korea. Samyang is known for producing varifocal and monofocal lenses, autoiris and fixed iris lenses, interchangeable lenses that are compatible with the cameras produced by other companies.
In 2004 it was merged with the Japanese CCTV optical devices maker Seikou.
Samyang produces lenses to fit cameras from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Pentax, Samsung, Yashica, Olympus and Panasonic, plus a wide range of T-mount lenses.

Rokinon Cine DS Lenses: http://goo.gl/ErOrwS Rokinon XEEN Cinema Primes: http://goo.gl/VoDXSe Rokinon started with manual photo lenses, then added Focus gears, Iris Gears, and a de-clicked iris called the Rokinon Cine. Later they standardized the Focus and Iris Gear positions and called this the Cine DS line. The Cine DS Line also had better coatings and a more expanded line of lenses (not available in Cine). The XEEN Cine Lenses are now their most professional line which includes standard Lens Diameters, Standard Focus and Iris Gear positions, Better Housings, better tolerances (less breathing), and higher optical coatings. The XEEN Lenses also have an 11 blade iris where the Cine and Cine DS lenses only have 8.

The Rokinon 35mm f1.4 is a manual focus lens, with absolutely no electronics, so it might not be the best choice for photographing fast moving objects in low light, but if you're willing to be patient and manually focus your shots you can achieve some very good results.
This lens is pretty sharp wide open, doesn't exhibit much lens flare, and has a nice and smooth focus ring. Out of the 3 lenses I think the Rokinon 35mm f1.4 would be the most useful when used with a follow focus system.
If you're willing to take the lens apart you can de-click the the aperture ring which makes this lens pretty much identical to the Samyang 35mm T1.5 Cine Lens just released. I purchased the lens you see above (Canon 5D MKII + Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 + Schneider Cinelux 2x Anamorphic) for $135 on eBay, and attached it to an 85mm portrait lens with a special clamp made by Vid Atlantic ...
