A public hero and a social media superstar, NMMC’s civic chief Tukaram Mundhe has done it again. While citizens were applauding him for showing the doors to NMMC three most allegedly corrupt officers, the Commissioner has not stopped at just that. In order to bring the guilty to book and send a strong message to officials in NMMC of serving citizens with honesty and integrity, Tukaram Mundhe has sought an Anti Corruption enquiry against NMMC officials Prakash Kulkarni, Jagannath Sinnarkar and Dr. Sanjay Pattiwar. Prakash Kulkarni held the reins of NMMC’s property tax dept for 9 years before being suspended on charges of shielding major defaulters and indulging in corrupt practices. Soon after, Tukaram Mundhe took action against Jagannath Sinnarkar and Dr. Sanjay Pattiwar by demoting them and the duo took VRS from NMMC. Sources reveal that it has come to the knowledge of Tukaram Mundhe that Kulkarni, Sinnarkar and Pattiwar have misused their positions, indulged in corrupt practices and have disproportionate wealth. For nearly a decade now, there were allegations in the corridors of NMMC against the three officers. Kulkarni allegedly never took action against major property tax defaulters who were robbing the NMMC treasury of Crores of taxes. It was then that the unexpected and unfortunate happened and the mike that Dashrath Bhagat was hurling hit the Mayor Sagar Naik on his arm.The moment the ruling corporators saw that the first citizen of the city was hit during the entire violent drama of Manoj Haldankar and Dashrath Bhagat, they got angry.
