Solomon (Arabic سليمان Sulaymān) was, according to the Qur'an, a king of ancient Israel as well as the son of David. The Qur'an recognizes Solomon as a prophet and a divinely-appointed monarch. Islamic tradition generally holds that Solomon was the third king of Israel and was a just and wise ruler for the nation. Islam views Solomon as one of the elect of God, who was bestowed upon with many God-given gifts, including the ability to speak to animals and control jinn.
Muslims further maintain that Solomon remained faithful to a one and only God throughout his life; constructed the Temple of Solomon, which became one of the key houses of worship; reigned justly over the whole of the Kingdom of Israel; was blessed with a level of kingship which was given to none after him; and fulfilled all of his commandments, being promised nearness to God in Heaven at the end of his life. Solomon remains one of the most commemorated and popular holy figures in Islam. Muslim tradition further maintains that, along with David (Dāwūd) and Dhul-Qarnayn, Solomon was one of three great monarchs of all time.

Plot: Umut, who is a young man in his twenties, is accepted to study in Istanbul University. He finds two flatmates and a flat on a billboard at his University's café. Umut is a son of a middle class Turkish family, who has an apolitical view of the world at the very beginning of his university days. He and his other two flatmates discover mystical, as well as supernatural events happening in the house that they live in. These experiences affect Umut in an unusual way by encouraging him (indirectly) to be close to Islam as a way of finding answers. Umut enjoys this new life style of Islam at first. Everything goes perfect for him. However, new life brings new friends and new environment with it. His new environment pushes him to a more political religious world; as a result of this; Umut's religious life is not just limited by the holy book or the religion's pure requirements. His religious life becomes politicized. In other words, he becomes a fundamentalist. This transfiguration forces him to get away from his lover, old friends and family. Umut becomes a violent and irresponsible man after becoming a fundamentalist. Spite and hate now fulfills his veins. This ideology and a wrecked soul take Umut to become a suicide activist. One Turkish national celebration morning Umut puts on a bomb device and takes it with him to a touristic place. He ends his life by activating the bomb inside a bus that is full of innocent tourists. What we understand at the end of the movie is that...

Plot: A half century of history in the Balkans is dramatized in this 4 part miniseries of 360 minutes total duration. Episode 1 takes us from the 1890s to 1914. In 1892, the Ottoman Empire is being threatened by patriotic nationalists. In Goricka, the lord of the region celebrates the birth of his heir, Zufikar, receiving the name of the prestigious family's founder. The boy is brought up regally, and graduates from the University of Salonika (at the time Turkish). There he befriends a young Greeek, Takis. Zufikar then returns home, where he again meets Esma, the mill owner's daughter, a childhood acquaintance. Passion erupts between "Z" and Esma. Disagreeing over Esma's sense of virtue, "Z" leaves her without knowing she is carrying his child. Alone and abandoned, Esma marries the coach driver Mustafa, to avoid the disgrace of being a single mother. "Z", in an attempt to forget Esma marries Myriam, a Jewish refugee from Salonika In Episode 2, World War II erupts in the Balkans, then extends all over Europe. In the Balkans however, War continues until the early 20's, when Turkey definitely loses its European territories, and Albania, Yugoslavia and a new larger Greece are all created, including Salonika whose Turkish (Muslim) population is resettled in Turkey proper. Now in Albania (and in Episode 3), "Z", a follower of Zog, the Prime Minister, is elected Deputy of Albania. Esma and Hikmet live near him. "Z" and his son (with Esma) still don't know about their bond. Meanwhile, Suleyman decides to live in Goricka, with Hikmet. Years pass and Zog proclaims himself King of Albania, while young Rasit becomes an active communist. In Goricka, Suleyman marries Pembé, Hikmet's daughter. Then in 1939, Mussolini invades Albania and "Z" is arrested for refusing to collaborate with the Fascist occupation. Rasit again joins other communists and partisans in the underground struggle against the Fascist Italians and Germans. Then in 1940, certain of an easy victory, Italy attacks Greece. This leads us on to Episode 4 which covers 1943 to 1950. In Albania, "Z" and Esma have gone underground. Hikmet is killed, while Suleyman and his young daughter are deported to a German camp. In Goricka, Pembé -persuaded she would never again see her husband and daughter, falls in love with Dimitri, a young partisan with whom she shares a passionate relationship. Escaping from the Germans, "Z" finds refuge with a former mistress. But, for his refusal to her advances, she betrays him revealing the whereabouts of the refugees to the enemy. When "Z" comes back to Bilisté, he finds devastation. Additionally, communists have seized power in Albania and "Z"'s lands and holdings have all been confiscated. He himself is sent away to "Re-education" in a collective farm. Suleyman makes it back to Goricka to discover the fate of his family members. Soviet-supported communism takes hold of all the Balkans, not counting Greece which rid itself of communist threats after a bloody civil war.

Plot: Stan Meijer is by nature a good boy, but grows up frustrated in Venlo, a boring provincial town in the Catholic Dutch South, feeling neglected by his gold-digger mother who remarried a dentist and abandoned by his biological father, a friendly macho trucker who stood the pre-teen up for reasons unknown when he planned to move in with him, never to be heard off until reading dad's obituary. So instead of joining the minor socialite life, Stan hooks up with junkies Maikel (dialect pronunciation-spelling for Michael) Verheije, a hot-head small criminal, and Sef, his lieutenant, who drag him along in small crime as an adolescent. When the bumbling trio gets arrested red-handed, the police sends both ruffians to jail but releases Stan as implausible suspect. He's too nice to accept when Maikel's girl-friend offers herself to him, and on Mikail's release joins him in a hold-up which goes bad, as the nervous amateurs needlessly kill the victim, a shopkeeper and secret weed-grower, rather then extort his illegal money as planned; the trio fears his Turkish crime boss Osman's gang will come after them, but instead are recruited as sort of a death squad in a gang war they don't even care to learn the nature of...
