Jupiter is a town located in Palm Beach County, Florida. According to the 2014 Census Bureau estimate, the town had a total population of 60,681. It is one of the northernmost suburbs of the Miami metropolitan area. It was rated as the 9th Happiest Seaside Town in America by Coastal Living in 2012.
The area where the town now sits was originally named for the Hobe Indian tribe which lived at the mouth of the Loxahatchee River, and whose name is also preserved in the name of nearby Hobe Sound. A mapmaker misunderstood the Spanish spelling "Jobe" of the Indian name "Hobe" and recorded it as "Jove". Subsequent mapmakers further misunderstood this to be the Latin translation of the god Jupiter, and they anglicized the name from Jove to "Jupiter". The Roman god Jupiter (or Zeus in the Greek mythology) is the chief Roman god, and god of light, of the sky and weather, and of the state and its welfare and its laws. Jupiter's consort was Juno, inspiring a neighboring town to name itself "Juno Beach".
Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest in the Solar System. It is a giant planet with a mass one-thousandth that of the Sun, but two and a half times that of all the other planets in the Solar System combined. Jupiter is a gas giant, along with Saturn. (Uranus and Neptune are ice giants.) Jupiter was known to astronomers of ancient times. The Romans named it after their god Jupiter. When viewed from Earth, Jupiter can reach an apparent magnitude of −2.94, bright enough for its reflected light to cast shadows, and making it on average the third-brightest object in the night sky after the Moon and Venus.
Jupiter is primarily composed of hydrogen with a quarter of its mass being helium, though helium comprises only about a tenth of the number of molecules. It may also have a rocky core of heavier elements, but like the other giant planets, Jupiter lacks a well-defined solid surface. Because of its rapid rotation, the planet's shape is that of an oblate spheroid (it has a slight but noticeable bulge around the equator). The outer atmosphere is visibly segregated into several bands at different latitudes, resulting in turbulence and storms along their interacting boundaries. A prominent result is the Great Red Spot, a giant storm that is known to have existed since at least the 17th century when it was first seen by telescope. Surrounding Jupiter is a faint planetary ring system and a powerful magnetosphere. Jupiter has at least 67 moons, including the four large Galilean moons discovered by Galileo Galilei in 1610. Ganymede, the largest of these, has a diameter greater than that of the planet Mercury.

I made the drive up to Jupiter Inlet to check it out and see what boat action was up there. One thing that I did notice that was very different about Jupiter Inlet compared to Haulover, all the small children were wearing life vests. Video never shows how sporty it really is but, here is a 44' Duffy operated by Samana Expert Fishing Charters coming in Jupiter Inlet on 4/16/16. Sea report for the day was 6 to 9' with Northeast winds 15 to 20knts building to 8 to 11' and 20 to 25knts. That boat looks right at home in those conditions.
Incredible boats in rough weather This video was filmed by whitewaterfishing at the Jupiter Inlet in Jupiter, Florida. The Jupiter inlet can be harsh and unforgiving but on this day a few boats were willing to brave it out and it made for some great footage. Hope you enjoy.

The red-brick lighthouse stands 105 feet into the sky, atop a 46-foot hill overlooking Jupiter Inlet. Climb up to see the Atlantic Ocean coastline or boats cruising the Intracoastal Waterway. Back on the ground, Riverbend Park welcomes you to hike where Seminole Indian War battles once waged. This is the jumping-off point to traverse the Wild and Scenic Loxahatchee River – one of only two such nationally designated rivers in Florida. From there, go on...

If you have ever been down to the Florida Keys for the opening of lobster season, then you know how passionate people get for catching lobster. (And for any of you northerners, these are "Spiny Lobster", not the Maine or New England lobster you might be used to seeing.) Anglers from all of over the state and beyond travel down to the warm and clear waters of the Florida Keys for lobster season because it's the best place in the southern US for catching lobster in a family environment. The reason for this is because in the Keys, there are tons of lobster in the 3 to 10 ft depth range so anyone who can somewhat hold their breath and swim has a shot at catching them. And the added bonus is that their tails are delicious... my personal favorite is butterflying the tails and grilling them.....
