A high school (also secondary school, senior school, secondary college) is a school that provides adolescents with part or all of their secondary education. It may come after primary school or middle school and be followed by higher education or vocational training.
The term "high school" originated in Scotland, with the world's oldest high school being Edinburgh's Royal High School from 1505. The Royal High School was used as a model for the first public high school in the United States, Boston Latin School founded in Boston, Massachusetts.
The precise stage of schooling provided by a high school differs from country to country, and may vary within the same jurisdiction. In all of New Zealand and Malaysia, along with most of Britain and parts of Australia, Bangladesh and Canada, high school means the same thing as secondary school, but instead of starting in 9th grade, these "secondary schools" begin at ages 11 or 12.
In Australia, high school is a secondary school, from Year 7 or Year 8 through to Year 12, varying from state to state. High school immediately follows primary (elementary) school; therefore, a Year-7 Australian high-school student is sometimes as young as 12. In Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory, the term "high school" generally refers to Years 7–10, whereas the term "College" is used for Years 11–12. In Victoria the term "secondary college" has largely replaced the term "high school" following the reforms of the Labor Government in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Some schools have retained the name "high school" (such as Melbourne High School) and many have now dropped the "secondary" and are simply known as "college".

ROBERTSDALE, Ala. (WPMI) The city of Robertsdale is projecting more than $1 million in sales tax revenue, the lion share from the new Walmart that's set to open Wednesday, September 24 and Walmart is projecting sales to be upwards of $11 million in the first year and the city plans to cash in. The paint IS not even dry and already a new Walmart in the center of Robertsdale along State Highway 59 is a sure fire bet for the city. "The real hey day with sales tax was back in 2007 when we did about $2.2 million and then the following year it dropped to about $1.5," said Robertsdale Mayor Charles Murphy. Now with Walmart opening in two weeks sales taxes in the general fund budget are expected to increase from $1.8 million in 2014 to $2.5 million in 2015. That hey day could be back. ...

Tim Cook, Apple CEO and one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People, addressed the George Washington University’s Class of 2015 at Commencement on the National Mall. In a speech about his influences and the responsibility of a person to follow his or her values, Mr. Cook told the new graduates, “The sidelines are not where you want to live your life. The world needs you in the arena.”
In a conversation with Richard Gingras, Senior Director of News & Social Products, former Wall Street Journal technology reporter Yukari Iwatani Kane delves deep inside Apple in the two years since Steve Jobs's death, revealing the tensions and challenges CEO Tim Cook and his team face as they try to sustain Jobs's vision and keep the company moving forward. Steve Jobs's death raised one of the most pressing questions in the tech and business worlds: Could Apple stay great without its iconic leader? Many inside the company were eager to prove that Apple could be just as innovative as it had been under Jobs. Others were painfully aware of the immense challenge ahead. As its business has become more complex and global, Apple has come under intense scrutiny, much of it critical. Maintaining ...
