The San Dieguito River is a major river in Southern California, USA. Its headwaters rise on the southern slope of the Volcan Mountains in San Diego County and the river flows generally southwest for 23.8 miles (38.3 km), draining 346 square miles (900 km2) before emptying into the Pacific Ocean 20 miles (32 km) north of San Diego.
Course
The river officially begins at the confluence of two streams, Santa Ysabel Creek and Santa Maria Creek, near the town of San Pasqual. Santa Ysabel Creek rises in the northeastern corner of the San Dieguito River watershed and flows west, creating Lake Sutherland. It then flows out of the lake's dam and westwards for the rest of its course. Its total length is about 11 miles (18 km). Santa Maria Creek, the smaller of the two streams, begins near the city of Ramona and flows northwards about 7 miles (11 km) through the Ramona Grasslands and Bandy Canyon. A third fork, Temescal Creek, rises in the Cleveland National Forest near Lake Henshaw and flows south about 9 miles (14 km) into Santa Ysabel Creek.

San Diego
San Diego /ˌsæn diːˈeɪɡoʊ/ (Spanish for "Saint Didacus") is a major city in California, on the coast of the Pacific Ocean in Southern California, approximately 120 miles (190 km) south of Los Angeles and immediately adjacent to the border with Mexico.
With an estimated population of 1,381,069 as of July 1, 2014, San Diego is the eighth-largest city in the United States and second-largest in California. San Diego is the birthplace of California and is known for its mild year-round climate, natural deep-water harbor, extensive beaches, long association with the U.S. Navy, and recent emergence as a healthcare and biotechnology development center.
Historically home to the Kumeyaay people, San Diego was the first site visited by Europeans on what is now the West Coast of the United States. Upon landing in San Diego Bay in 1542, Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo claimed the entire area for Spain, forming the basis for the settlement of Alta California 200 years later. The Presidio and Mission of San Diego, founded in 1769, formed the first European settlement in what is now California. In 1821, San Diego became part of newly independent Mexico, and in 1850, became part of the United States following the Mexican–American War and the admission of California to the union.

San Diego River
The San Diego River is a river in San Diego County, California. It originates in the Cuyamaca Mountains northwest of the town of Julian, then flows to the southwest until it reaches the El Capitan Reservoir, the largest reservoir in the river's watershed at 112,800 acre feet (139,100,000 m3). Below El Capitan Dam, the river runs west through the cities of Santee and San Diego. While passing through Tierrasanta it goes through Mission Trails Regional Park, one of the largest urban parks in America. The river discharges into the Pacific Ocean near the entrance to Mission Bay, forming an estuary.
History
The river has changed its course several times in recorded history. When the first European settlers arrived in the late 18th century it emptied into False Bay, the present day Mission Bay. At some point in the 1820s it altered course and began to empty into San Diego Bay, which continued for nearly 50 years. Because of fears that the harbor would silt up, the river was diverted to its present course in 1877 by a dam and the straightening of the channel to the ocean.

River
A river is a natural flowing watercourse, usually freshwater, flowing towards an ocean, sea, lake or another river. In some cases a river flows into the ground and becomes dry at the end of its course without reaching another body of water. Small rivers can be referred to using names such as stream, creek, brook, rivulet, and rill. There are no official definitions for the generic term river as applied to geographic features, although in some countries or communities a stream is defined by its size. Many names for small rivers are specific to geographic location; examples are "run" in some parts of the United States, "burn" in Scotland and northeast England, and "beck" in northern England. Sometimes a river is defined as being larger than a creek, but not always: the language is vague.
Rivers are part of the hydrological cycle. Water generally collects in a river from precipitation through a drainage basin from surface runoff and other sources such as groundwater recharge, springs, and the release of stored water in natural ice and snowpacks (e.g. from glaciers). Potamology is the scientific study of rivers while limnology is the study of inland waters in general.

Moscow is a city of creativity and innovation, but is also very much aware of its own history; as such, a haunting part of any Moscow sightseeing is a visit to the Fallen Monument Park. After the fall of the Soviet Union, countless statues and monuments were removed from their pedestals and moved to this park. Over the years, more modern artwork and sculptures have been added, turning the park into a strange, yet peaceful graveyard of former icons.

Start your day by reserving an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet alongside Shamu's tank and then catch the first showing of Believe, the most popular attraction at the park. During this spectacular show, you'll see Shamu slide onto the stage, jump through the air, and splash guests. You're almost guaranteed to get soaked in the first 15 rows.
Next, grab about $20 from the ATM outside the Skytower and head over to Rocky Point Preserve, where you can lightly touch and feed the dolphins. It's one of the most memorable attractions at the park. Each tray of anchovies is $5 (cash only)
For more dolphin fun, don't miss the Dolphin Discovery Show where you'll see Dolly and her friends jump and fly through the air in an amazing acrobatic display. As with all stadium shows, arrive 15 minutes early to get front-row seats.
When you're ready to beat the heat, Sea World's two water rides are worth the wait. Drop down a 60-foot waterfall on Journey to Atlantis, or bounce down the river in a 9-person inner tube on Shipwreck Rapids. Minimum height is 42 inches.
In 2008, Sea World celebrated the 25th year of Penguin Encounter, where you can cool off on a moving walkway while enjoying a show of more than 350 antarctic birds jumping, swimming and playing in a snowy environment.
Another great draw is Shark Encounter, a dark maze of over-water and under-water viewing tanks filled with every type of shark imaginable. A tankful of vicious piranhas awaits you next door in the freshwater aquarium.

The Carlsbad Sea Life Aquarium, located next door to Legoland California, is a Lego themed aquarium that's divided into 14 different regional zones, including San Francisco Harbor, California Coast, Southern California Tide Pools, the Surf Break and Gold Rush River.
You can touch sea stars and other coastal creatures in the Discovery Zone Touch Pool, or check the Shark Talk puppet show, held at noon and 3 p.m. daily. A highlight is the Lost City of Atlantis, a 200,000-gallon saltwater tank that's filled with tropical fish, sharks, stingrays and a Lego submarine. At 11 a.m., a diver jumps in the tank to interact with the audience!
Sea Life Aquarium tickets are $20 adults; $13 kids. Special park-hoppers that include Legoland tickets are $79 adults and $69 kids.

Vacationing in San Diego? You must visit some of the free places that locals visit regularly. One of my favorites is Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, home of the rarest pine in the United States. Here, you walk 300 feet above the Pacific Ocean shore, see passing whales in season, wildlife, plants and humanity. Choose to travel the beach trail to the shorline or stroll along the unusual landscape of the clifffs.
Torrey Pines has been known as an unusual place for a long time. Spanish sailors in the 1500's saw trees growing on a high bluff and marked it on their charts as Punta de los Arboles or Wooded Point - a good reference point on a dry coast where trees are common only along streams or in the mountains many miles inland. California gray whales migrate from northern waters past Torrey Pines to the lagoons of Baja California each winter, bring your binoculars!
