HIV
The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a lentivirus (a subgroup of retrovirus) that causes HIV infection and over time acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). AIDS is a condition in humans in which progressive failure of the immune system allows life-threatening opportunistic infections and cancers to thrive. Without treatment, average survival time after infection with HIV is estimated to be 9 to 11 years, depending on the HIV subtype. Infection with HIV occurs by the transfer of blood, semen, vaginal fluid, pre-ejaculate, or breast milk. Within these bodily fluids, HIV is present as both free virus particles and virus within infected immune cells.
HIV infects vital cells in the human immune system such as helper T cells (specifically CD4+ T cells), macrophages, and dendritic cells. HIV infection leads to low levels of CD4+ T cells through a number of mechanisms, including pyroptosis of abortively infected T cells,apoptosis of uninfected bystander cells, direct viral killing of infected cells, and killing of infected CD4+ T cells by CD8 cytotoxic lymphocytes that recognize infected cells. When CD4+ T cell numbers decline below a critical level, cell-mediated immunity is lost, and the body becomes progressively more susceptible to opportunistic infections.

Charlie Sheen
Carlos Irwin Estévez (born September 3, 1965), best known by his stage name Charlie Sheen, is an American actor. Sheen rose to fame after a series of successful films such as Platoon (1986), Wall Street (1987), Young Guns (1988), Eight Men Out (1988), Major League (1989), Hot Shots! (1991), and The Three Musketeers (1993).
In the 2000s, Sheen became best known for his television roles. He replaced Michael J. Fox in Spin City and his performance earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Musical or Comedy and then starred in Two and a Half Men which earned him several Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominations. He most recently starred in the FX comedy series Anger Management, which concluded its 100-episode run in 2014. In 2010, Sheen was the highest paid actor on television and earned US$1.8 million per episode of Two and a Half Men.
Sheen's personal life has made headlines, including reports of alcohol and drug abuse and marital problems, as well as allegations of domestic violence. His contract for Two and a Half Men was terminated by CBS and Warner Bros. in March 2011. Sheen subsequently went on tour. On November 17, 2015, Sheen publicly revealed that he was HIV positive, having been diagnosed about four years earlier.

Stephen Fry
Stephen John Fry (born 24 August 1957) is an English comedian, actor, writer, presenter and activist.
After a troubled childhood and adolescence, during which he was expelled from two schools and spent three months in prison for credit card fraud, Fry secured a place at Queens' College, Cambridge, where he studied English literature. While at university, he became involved with the Cambridge Footlights, where he met his long-time collaborator Hugh Laurie. As half of the comic double act Fry and Laurie, he co-wrote and co-starred in A Bit of Fry & Laurie and also took the role of Jeeves (with Laurie playing Wooster) in Jeeves and Wooster.
Fry's acting roles include a Golden Globe Award–nominated lead performance in the film Wilde, Melchett in the BBC television series Blackadder, the title character in the television series Kingdom, a recurring guest role as Dr Gordon Wyatt on the crime series Bones, and as Gordon Deitrich in the dystopian thriller V for Vendetta. He has also written and presented several documentary series, including the Emmy Award–winning Stephen Fry: The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive, which saw him explore his bipolar disorder, and the travel series Stephen Fry in America. He is also the long-time host of the BBC television quiz show QI.

Transmission and Prevention of HIV
The modes of transmission of HIV are numerous. This animation describes the common and less common ways in which HIV can be transmitted from one person to another. More than three decades on from its first outbreak, HIV/AIDS remains a prevalent killer, even in the developed world, and a pressing scientific challenge to understand and treat. The rate of infection, especially among young people, is increasing, and in parts of Africa in particular, it remains an epidemic-scale killer. Yet a cure could be just around the corner, and scientists are optimistic that the virus’ days might be numbered. Is HIV here to stay, or will it be consigned to history like Smallpox?

Infelizmente, muitas pessoas pensam que só poderão contrair o vírus da AIDS se forem usuários de drogas, se tiverem o hábito de ter vários parceiros sexuais ou a condição de homossexual. E a realidade não é essa.
Ao mesmo tempo, há aqueles que acreditam que poderão se contaminar por sentar na mesma cadeira de um portador do vírus ou através de um beijo. Outros acreditam que a imunodeficiência já tem cura e, por isso, cuidam-se menos, o que faz o número de infectados aumentar.
Diante desse cenário, buscamos esclarecer os reais riscos e mostrar a realidade de pessoas que apesar de infectadas continuam vivendo, trabalhando, amando, sendo amadas -- e transando.
Testemunhos, relatos e orientações de profissionais da saúde e entrevistas comoventes com pessoas que contam como se contaminaram, como lidam com a doença e o impacto que a imunodeficiência teve sobre suas vidas e relacionamentos. O HIV pode afetar qualquer um, inclusive eu, inclusive você.

An African-American man says he no longer feels safe living in his neighborhood after an Oregon man allegedly threatened him, according to a Raw Story report Thursday quoting local TV station KEZI.
