Malwa
Malwa is a natural region in west-central India occupying a plateau of volcanic origin. Geologically, the Malwa Plateau generally refers to the volcanic upland north of the Vindhya Range. Politically and administratively, the historical Malwa region includes districts of western Madhya Pradesh and parts of south-eastern Rajasthan. The definition of Malwa is sometimes extended to include the Nimar region north of the Vindhyas.
The Malwa region had been a separate political unit from the time of the ancient Malava Kingdom. It has been ruled by several kingdoms and dynasties, including the Avanti Kingdom, the Mauryans, the Malavas, the Guptas, the Parmaras, the Malwa sultans, the Mughals and the Marathas. Malwa continued to be an administrative division until 1947, when the Malwa Agency of British India was merged into Madhya Bharat (also known as Malwa Union) state of independent India.
Although its political borders have fluctuated throughout history, the region has developed its own distinct culture, influenced by the Rajasthani, Marathi and Gujarati cultures. Several prominent people in the history of India have hailed from Malwa, including the poet and dramatist Kalidasa, the author Bhartrihari, the mathematicians and astronomers Varahamihira and Brahmagupta, and the polymath king Bhoja. Ujjain had been the political, economic, and cultural capital of the region in ancient times, and Indore is now the largest city and commercial centre.

Dewas is the most beautiful and ancient town situated near Indore, it is around 40 km in Northeast from Indore and on the level plains of the Malwa Plateau, to the South. The beauty of Dewas, it is surround by hills, and on the hills as every where in India there is also a Hindu Temple on it. In Dewas there is not only temples on the hills but with the latest technology there are winds farm also situated, so if view Dewas from the top of the hills you will enjoy both the technology and the India culture.
Dewas is a small town but it is also have administrative center of Dewas District, and was formerly the seat of two "15 Gun Salute" princely states during the British Raj, Dewas Junior State and Dewas Senior State, ruled by the royal Maratha "Puar" or Pawar. And one more most interesting thing about Dewas is that it has Houses Government's Bank Note Press.
The main hill in the Dewas known as Tekri these days but the actual name of this hill is the Devi Vaishini hill. This hill has number of temples of Deity Devi Tulja Bhawani, Chamunda Mata and Kalika Mata.The word Dewas is also believed to be a sandhi of Dev deity and Vas Msrathi for abode. thus Dewas means abode of the Deity or God.
Bhavani was the tutelary Deity of the Maratha leader Shivaji, in whose veneration, he dedicated his sword, Bhavani Talwar. A temple to Bhavani at Tuljapur in Maharashtra, dates back to the 12th century.

Jhalawar is a city in southeastern Rajasthan. It was the capital of the former princely state of Jhalawar, and is the administrative headquarters of Jhalawar District. Jhalawar was once known as Brijnagar.
The city of Jhalawar was founded by Jhala Zalim Singh,[1] who was the then Dewan of Kota State (1791 A.D.). He established this township, then known as Chaoni Umedpura, as a cantonment. The township was at the time surrounded by dense forests and wildlife.
Jhala Zalim Singh often came here for hunting and he liked the place so much that he wanted to develop it as a township. The objective to develop this place as a military cantonment was due to the fact that Maratha invaders passed through this central place from Malwa towards Kota to capture Hadoti states.
Jhala Zalim Singh recognized the importance of this place and started to develop it as a military cantonment and township, so that he could use this place to attack and stop Maratha invaders before they can reach to Kota State. Chaoni Umedpura got developed as a cantonment and township around 1803-04 A.D. Colonel Todd, who visited the region in December, 1821 described this area as the cantonment established by Jhala Zalim Singh plus a well-established township with large houses, havelis, and surrounding walls.
In 1838 A.D., English rulers separated Jhalawar state from Kota state and gave it to Jhala Madan Singh, the grandson of Jhala Zalim Singh. He developed his administration services to develop the state of Jhalawar. He resided in Jhalara Patan for a long time and started to build The Garh Palace (1840 - 1845 A.D). He was the first ruler of Jhalawar state and made a significant contribution in the history of Jhalawar. Jhala Madan Singh ruled Jhalawar from 1838 to 1845. After his death, Jhala Prithvi Singh became the ruler of Jhalawar, and ruled for around 30 years.
Rana Bhawani Singh Ji, who ruled Jhalawar state from 1899 to 1929 A.D., did remarkable work in the development of Jhalawar state. His active involvement was in the fields of social activities, public works (construction), education and administration.
The chief town of Jhalawar, also known as Patan or Jhalara Patan was the centre of trade for the eponymous princely state, the chief exports of the which were opium, oil-seeds and cotton. The palace is four miles (6 km) north of the town. An extensive ruin near the town is the site of the ancient city of Chandrawati, said to have been destroyed in the reign of Aurangzeb. The finest feature of its remains is the temple of Sitaleswar Mahadeva (c. 600).

The Queen of the Malwa kingdom (Indore, MP referenced in the video), Ahilyabai Holkar, donated 22x40 kilos of gold for Viswanath Temple, which is just a bit off the ghats in Varanasi. In fact, besides this, Ahilyabai has worked and contributed to well over two dozens temples and ghats all across India. She was also known as the "philoshper's queen'.
You also see the mention of Munsi Ghat from Maharaja of Nagpur. You also see Darbhanga Ghat, donated by Maharaja of Darbhanga, Bihar.
He suspects that though I speak the local Bhojpuri dialect, I do not reside in Varanasi. He suspects that my English accent is not local, which is a fact. :) These guys know their stuff. Even an x-local can not fool'em. :)
